ALPHA17
Will be interesting how they bind controls on the PS4 controller or would you need a joystick from the get go.

ALPHA17
Alpha you play this a lot on the PC right ? How is it ? Decently fun, if you are a aviation buff. A few trees (and aircrafts) are almost over-powered but that is how it is (even historically). Game does not feel P2W, although some will allege the same. Graphics are good and most older machines can play the game on high settings (minus AA). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEdQ0rQLBog You can even ask MoonstruckHorrors about it as well. He has been playing it for longer.
MoonStruckHorrors
This game is super fun. I've logged around 200 hours & am still addicted to it. I haven't played much of anything else since I started playing this. For those of you want to know, it's both a flight simulator & arcade with Army and Navy to be added soon. You can either play the: Arcade- WWII scenarios with free country selection & a lenient flight model. Only a portion of the maps is used, although you're free to leave it. Historical Battles- WWII scenarios with strict country selection(Axis vs Allies) & a more realistic flight model & no respawns. Huge 32x32km or 24x24km maps. More rewards. Full Real Battles- Fully realistic & punishing flight model. Joystick & skill needed for even getting off the ground. You are forced to use the cockpit, limited HUD. More rewards. Why am I praising it? Graphics - stunning. They even have a super low mode which is "designed to work on toasters". Very detailed Airplane models & cockpits. 5 countries with more than 100 planes to choose from. More planes to be added soon. No concept of HP for the planes as whole, you lose the tail you live without it. Lose the pilot, well.. Squad system with completely functional Voice chat. Unlike BF3, squad system actually works quite well here. (Alpha17 is a bad squadmate ) Nice & mature playerbase while playing Historical battles. Game and every single patch available as a torrent too if you're not a big fan of launchers. Premium/Gold just helps you rank up faster. Definitely not Pay-2-Win. Soundtrack from Jeremy Soule. Engine, guns & other sound effects recorded from actual aircrafts. Greenlit, coming to Steam. What I don't like about it? Economy is currently messed up if you're a big fan of Jets or Flying Fortress'. Unfinished flight models: Some planes are currently flying on placeholder flight models. Even in beta this game has more content than released AAA titles. If you're even slightly interested about WWII air combat, get it.

MoonStruckHorrors
No joystick here, so won't get. You don't need a joystick. It's required only in Full Real Battles which, at any given time, has 1% for the total players. In modes other than FRB, mouse users even have a distinct advantage over the Joystick users since they can pull off kickass moves with ease, thanks to the instructor. Instructor: Mouse users fly using the instructor. You basically point you mouse to the direction you want to move & the instructor starts making rudder/ailerons/elevator adjustments. It also safeguards you from crashing/stalling by making automatic adjustments to the engine & flaps.

Heaven Angel
What's the size of the game? Also, it'll be F2P or one time payment?
ALPHA17
What's the size of the game? Model is like that of TF2, apart that you have an economy in 'Silver' Lions and 'Golden' Eagles to purchase aircraft (tanks and ships later) and ammunition types. You can buy Golden Eagles regularly or a one time starter pack but that is not a 100% pre-requisite to start playing. Just download (they have an official torrent) the game files and you are good to go in the OPEN-BETA.
MoonStruckHorrors
I am grinding the American tree, invite me next time you see me. Switched to Germans completely after hitting rank 14 in US. B-17 are a pain to repair & there aren't enough variants of P-51 Mustang to give Germans a fair fight. What's the size of the game? Also, it'll be F2P or one time payment? Around 6-7GB. Silver Lions- Earned through the game & are used to buy and repair airplanes in the country's tech tree. Also used to buy stuff for the plane(Engine, Pylons, etc). Golden Eagles- Cannot be earned by playing. They are used to buy: Premium account ( 2x XP and lions ) Convert XP Premium planes - Which are basically normal planes from other country's tech tree. About 5-6 for each country. You can also get one of starter packs which give you limited premium account, usually a plane & some Golden Eagles. Although I don't recommend getting anything before you try it. MoonStruckHorrors
Dedicated bombers are mostly useless unless you are a Yer-2 and the opposing team is lax. Are not even the P63 variants enough to keep pace with the higher tier German planes? Don't even get me started on Yer-2. The threads on official forums about Yer-2 are growing each day. How can a bomber which wasn't even used that much has a better payload than the glorious B-17 with nearly 10% of the repair cost of B-17. Although the payload is historically accurate since it was the overloaded version but then why doesn't B-17 carries its overloaded version. Either that's something they overlooked or RUSSIAN BIAS LOL OMG And P63 is fine in Arcade but in HB Germans outturn, outclimb & outrun it.
ALPHA17
And P63 is fine in Arcade but in HB Germans outturn, outclimb & outrun it. How are the British aircraft in Historical Battle MODE? Actually a lot of Western sources overlooked the Russian equipment of WW2; including aircraft. The Pe-2 (Petlyakov-2 / 3) were some of the best medium type bombers of the war. So was the IL-2 / 4 'Sturmovik'. Although I do agree on the repair cost bias for the plane, that is a serious oversight / BIAS on the companies part. Although Allies are some serious treehuggers. Axis almost always dominate. Many Russian planes were fine no doubt, specially the legendary ILs. But in Russia, even the legit sources tend to overstate their abilities - or atleast that's what the theory is. And due to the NDA developers can't comment on the actual source/stats - or atleast that's what they say.

Yes, I agree that the facts were substituted with more colourful versions of the truth because of the administration. Although the Russian's did drive quite a few firsts, such as -- sloped armour plating in tanks heavy calibre auto-cannons on their aircraft (37mm standard, only the German Panzer-knacker Hs 129 came above them with a 7.5 cm cannon mounted in its nose) first all stressed metal heavy-bomber (SB 2M) and medium-bomber (Pe-2 / 3) aircraft Also a lot of Russian pilots liked the American Aircobra's that were sent to them in the lend lease programme. spindoctor
So is the Steam starter pack worth the price? It says it has 2 single player campaigns which sounds tempting.
