Those wascally wabbids are back again in another mischief-filled outing on the Nintendo Wii. However, this time around, the newly launched Wii Balance Board will be aiding and abetting their evil plans to hijack TV schedules.

Rayman Raving Rabbids TV party preview from IGN

we're referring to backside calibration. Yes, in order to play one of the 49 different mini-games featured in the title, you must plant your rump on the Wii Balance Board and "stop squirming" so that title might accurately measure your -- ahem, posture.

you take control of a Rabbid as he snowboards down a mountainside. In order to steer the critter, you simply lean to the left and right with your rear end, rotating pressure between one cheek and the other. We know such an undertaking sounds a bit ridiculous, and it is -- intentionally so -- but we have to admit that it works. Sliding from left to right between ski posts feels good and you can also add a quick speed boost by leaning backward with your backside. Jumps and ramps are scattered about the level and you can catch some big air.

In another mini-game, the object is to go sky surfing. To play, you plant both feet on the Balance Board as though you might be riding a skateboard. (You'll need to position the Wiibo sideways to play.) Then, you lean inward and outward to steer left and right and shift forward and backward to make the rabbit's sky-surfboard dive downward or ascend upward respectively. The goal of the game is to surf very quickly through a series of rings. It's a pretty psychedelic experience and it controls well.

Rabbids TV Party features a full-blown TV theme. It includes seven unique channels of programming and takes place across seven virtual days. Filling the gaps will be a series of "commercials" -- 2D animations meant to add humor to the experience. During a mini-game load-screen, we were treated to one such cinematic, which showcased a screaming rabbid.

All things considered, Rabbids TV Party appears to be shaping up nicely, but we'll want to see more of the title's remaining 46 minis before we're completely on board.

I quite enjoyed the first Rayman raving rabbids. Although by now i think these mini game collections have become a little stale.
