Typing from the updated PS3 browser. It now feels more smooth, and renders everthing correctly. Google is way better now, Gmail is also opening in its advanced HTML form now. It now also opens yahoo but doesn't support the latest version of yahoo mail. Youtube support is stil upto 240p unfortunately. It seems that it can rival modern browsers after just a little more tweaking by Sony.Any specific details?????? I use the PS3's browser a lot.....

This minor firmware improves certain aspects of system software, and is not mandatory to connect to PSN.
This update is optional in the US and Canada

Anyhow, I downloaded the complete update file from the US PSN link and updated, it worked. But this is the first time I've seen an incremental patch-style update, and I really like the idea coz downloading the complete file each time takes long.

Enjoy what you do!

That's true , it's always advisable to dload from ps3As far as know, downloading from links(via PC) always give you a complete update file. Its only via PSN update that you get an incremental patch as the system knows the latest version your PS3 have.

System software update (v4.20) will improve sidetone audio performance by giving you the option to select one out of five levels for microphone audio, or turn the feature off completely. For those of you who use the Wireless Stereo Headset to watch Blu-ray or DVD movies on your PS3, this system software update will also enable virtual surround sound functionality, giving you a superior audio experience. This update will also allow you to set the amount of time that the system will wait before turning itself off automatically for [Video/TV/Music/Photo] and for [Game/Other Features].
Additionally, saved data management has been improved. You will now be able to select multiple saved data items and delete or copy them as a group.

Sony has just revealed on official US Playstation Blog that upcoming PS3 firmware 4.25 will bring a whooping 1GB Cloud Storage to Playstation Plus.
Sony further revealed that this firmware 4.25 will arrive in Europe tomorrow.
Here is an important NOTE for PS3 gamers from Sony related to PS3 firmware 4.25
After you’ve installed the update, simply go to the Saved Data Utility under the Game column of the XMB."
"From there you can access the Online Storage folder and find any existing game saves already uploaded, as well as the increase in space to 1GB. So set your automatic download to upload every game save for every compatible game you play and enjoy the additional breathing room. You can also continue to use this feature to selectively upload game saves you specify."

I decide to use PSN Download Manager and it only showed an incremental update (the ~40MB one). All done and dusted, it connected to PSN but I disconnected from the proxy so I could have a direct connection to Internet.
It gave me another popup for 4.25 and refused to connect to PSN.
I logged in through the proxy again, and it logged in to PSN just fine, I was able to play BF3 online. But if I connect directly (without proxy), it prompts me for an update.
Super lolz

Enjoy what you do!

The latest firmware update allows PS3 users to view the trophies you have earned on your PlayStation Vita on your PlayStation 3 Trophy List -- the Trophy List icon is now located under PlayStation Network on the PS3 XMB.
While the new PS3 system update brings a new feature, it also brings the closure of another as “Life with PlayStation” comes to a close. The service brought featured channels that would provide updates on weather, cloud date, news, and live camera feeds of cities.
