How important was that innings in view of the current state of the match. Â Usually in Tests the strike rate of a batsman is around the 50 mark. Dhawan managed an SR of 107. Basically he didn't waste any time. Any other batsman would've taken 25-30 overs more just to make those runs. So in a way, he saved that much time (which in a 4-day test, is making its effect felt). Â Had he batted normally, India would've been ~80 runs shorter than we ended up, in the same amount of time. India should have easily been 125+ if not have finished the match. Â Had Aussies been in this situation, they would have completed the final rites about 40 mins back.
