500 years have passed since the unification of the realm of Ardania. During this time, many celebrated kings ruled, and foes of old were vanquished. Into this world was born King Leonard, who became worried over his place in history, as there were no great enemies left to conquer. The weight of his royal ancestry led him to summon a most powerful demon in an attempt to banish it. His attempt to garner a name for himself failed when the demon killed the king and usurped his throne.

In the days of the demon's rule, Ardania crumbled and fell back to its chaotic past. Many had vied for the throne, but it appeared the true heir to Ardania had finally been found.

^^ its definately not like AOE ... its more like u manage everything indirectly .. u cant directly order a hero / soldier to move to a position and attack a particular enemy .. u need to place a bounty on the enemy to motivate the hero to fight him ... and that sort of stuff .. try playing the original majesty once ... its still loads of fun

So looking forward to this!

Afty, Majesty is unlike any other strategy game. In addition to what reaper said I would say that it plays like a mix of Age Of Empires and Caesar. The first one was highly addictive.

^^ Let us know if its worth getting. I loved Anno and if this is anything similar it should be worth a punt.

anno is more like a city building / economy sim if im right ... this one is almost the same with a huge twist .. :)

Afty, this is a very very unique strategy game. Unlike other RTS games you don't directly control your army. You must influence them enough to fight. It sounds kinda frustrating in the beginning but it soon becomes very addictive. Plus it has a rather unique style with some cool voice-overs and stuff.

reapha, it cost me $40. Not sure what the final download size would be though. But I'm guessing it shouldn't be more than 5gig. Gold edition 56% downloaded...

HOLY CRAP! This game is all kinds of awesome!

For those who have played the original Majesty... it's more like an enhanced version of the same game with 3D graphics and a brand new user interface. Heck, even most of the unit responses and musical themes are the same. The visuals may not hold up well with the latest games but are quite pretty and the game should run decently on most mid range computers. It looks like a mix of WarCraft III and Age Of Mythology. The game is also pretty lightweight (took me just about an hour to download via Steam).

Sadly I only managed to play for an hour and a half before I had to leave for work but I can already tell I'm gonna be spending a lot of time with it.

Alright, until reaper-san is back looks like I'm gonna be the only one who cares about this game. Almost at the last few missions of the campaign and here's a few more impressions...

- Game is really good but needs a patch.... badly!

- Campaign Missions may tend to feel repetitive at times. But they're still fun and you have plenty of options as far as available heroes etc goes. You can also promote leveled up heroes to "Lords" so you can use them in subsequent missions. They retain all XP, upgrades and equipment and can becomes quite deadly as the game progresses. Some of my heroes can kill powerful enemies in a single hit.

- Feels more fast paced and action-oriented than the first game. Not sure if this is such a good thing.

- Voiceovers are awesome and quite funny. The humor is in the vein of Fable or Overlord.

- Music is really nice and will get stuck in your head. Some of the themes however are very reminiscent of LOTR or Pirates of the Caribbean.... :naughty:

- The lack of a "free play" mode or custom games is really disappointing.

- Building isn't intuitive. Sometimes your buildings just don't get placed in certain areas for no apparent reason causing you to randomly move the mouse around until you find a spot you can place it. There's no logic behind this.

- Hero AI surely needs some tweaking.

- Haven't tried the MP yet.

Overall, it's a pretty decent game. You'll love it even more if you haven't played the first game mainly because of the unique concept. I really hope the devs come up with a patch to address some of the issues. And I'm looking forward to an expansion pack that could potentially enable a custom game mode.
