Processor:: Intel E7400 2.8 GHz 3mb cache Rs 5675
Motherboard:: Asus P5KPL AM IN microATX G31 Rs 2265
Ram:: 2gb ddr2 800MHz Rs 1200
PSU:: corsair 450w vx450 Rs 4000
Dvd burner + HDD Rs3000 (pick the ones tht fit this budget -- u can do it)
GPU :: sapphire HD 4670 1gb Rs 5550 or palit 9800gt 1gb Rs 7750
case:: A good mini ATX case :: CM elite 330 Rs 2100( 330 is a mid ATX though --- isn't it?)
If u take 9800gt Its 26k total
If u take 4670 Its 24k total
A 17" LCD will be around 5k ( 17" 'coz ur GPU freaks @higher res)
Altec lansing 2.1 entry level speakers around 1k
Logitech G1 gaming desktop @1.5k
so totals to 33.5k
I've seen 4670 give playable framerates in crysis gamer res(on youtube) but 9800gt gives waaaay better performance for the extra 2k..
cons of the system::
-mobo supports 4gb max ram
-cpu bottlenecks if u upgrade GPU later
-there is NO FUTURE though will run great for 2yrs minimum
-micro ATX hinders expandability
pros of the system::
-the psu is pretty good one
-can spend remaining money to buy games
Suggested upgrades::
-add another 2gb ram down the road (when u just cant do with 2gb)
-CPU upgrade :: go for a good quad-core one when u upgrade your GPU.
-A gigabyte p35 mobo (GA-P35-S3G) costs 4.5k i.e 2k more than the current one....but it eradicates the expandability problems since its an ATX mobo and can support upto 8gb ram and also supports 1066Mhz
Aman and afty modify this to make it cheaper plz.....
and also some suggestions..
edit:: prices from @www.theitwares.com ... I guess they charge upto 200 extra on almost everything.. so u can save upto 1.5k buying locally

he gets playable frames... @ 1152x864 2X AA highsettings on crysis with HD 4670 on 17" LCD
also ... GTA 4
so I guess u will still do better if u go for 9800gt 1gb
edit:: this system (with 9800gt) gets 40fps+ in far cry 2 very high settings

Play "boom boom pow" in the background for better results...
After quite a while of exile period and creating a bunch of utter-flop processors AMD now jumped back into the race,back in its favorite mid-range budget segment.
No matter what, AMD has been ruling the mid-range segment, and there is no wonder if this will continue.
Now, this configuration is budget based futureproof gaming PC.
Right at the site of futureproof u'd jump out of ur chair and say intel i7 is most futereproof than any other proc in the world. True.
But, we aren't making servers or research lab equipment here, We're making a GAMING RIG and thts in budget.
As I said earlier, AMD recovered from athlon x2 and phenom x2 , x4 flops, their phenom II series brought them back to a more than winning position in the midrange segment.
At the price of a core 2 duo PII X3's and x4's outperformed their intel core 2 quad counterparts.
So, tht clarifies why i chose to go for a completely AMD-ATI Rig....

Gentlemen meet...
THE ROGUE
The config....
CPU :: AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE 2.8Ghz 6mb cache Rs7700
Motherboard:: Asus M4a78t-E Am3 motherboard ATX 790gx Rs 9635
Ram:: Patriot low latency edition PSD34G1333K 1333 Mhz DDR3 Rs 5000
GPU:: ATI Radeon HD 4890 1gb DDR5 Rs 17000
PSU:: Tagan Modular BZ600 600w Rs 6050
Case:: NZXT Tempest Rs6000
HDD +Dvd drive:: Rs 4000
Total @ 55.5k approx
So, @55.5k u can max out any game till-date and keep maxing out in future too
Recommended peripherals::
Samsung 2233sw Full HD 16:9 --10.5k
Logitech G1 gaming desktop -- 1.5k
Altec Lansing ATP3 speakers-- 4k
Totals to 72.5k approx
Cons of the system::
-apparantly none...but price is more than mid-range .. prices in india are too high ..
pros of the system::
-As futureproof as the i7, coz AMD confirmed that the future am3+/am4 families along with am3, i7 and i5 killers will be compatible with the current am3 motherboard.
-DDR3 ram -- fast and future proof
-overclocks like hell.. thnx to AMD overdrive and ASUS OC features
-GPU is also powerful
-Lots of expandability
-Case has top fan and lots of cooling
-tricore has the advantages of both worlds ... affordable like dual cores and effective like quad-cores..
Compared to its peers::
-Beats both e8400 and Q8200 which fall in the same segment
This is a totally balanced system so ..there wont be any bottleneck issues.
U can hook up another GPU.. just make sure its ATI... 'coz theres no point in have=ing a gtx 275 running in a board with onboard ATI graphics and supports only crossfire..
The least GPU I recommend is HD 4850 512mb
This rig justifies the notion...
Future is Fusion

Next time will post an intel alternative.

Though i7 920 looks good with a 15k price tag on it competing with any other extreme quadcore proccy... It has hidden costs of X58 mobo and DDR3 ram....
but If u want to make a good futureproof rig... there is no choice except i7 rite now...
So here is the cheapest i7 u can ever make....@65k
CPU:: i7 920 Rs 15500/-

Mobo:: MSI X58 pro Rs 13500/-

Ram:: Patriot low latency PSD34G1333K 4gb 1333Mhz DDR3 Rs5000/-
PSU:: Tagan Modular 800w BZ800w modular Rs8000/-
HDD+DVD:: Rs 4000/-
Case:: 6k Nzxt tempest shuld do the trick

GPU::Here are some options...
-ATI Radeon HD 4870 1gb Rs 13000/- usually...
-but rite now there is a galaxy GTX 275 OC version @ 13,500/- at techenclave
-Manli brand HD 4890 (reference card model) 13k also @ techenclave
crysis warhead GPU performances...

total @65k approx
pros::
-u are getting i7 experience for 65k
-gr8 value I must say..
cons::
-a lot of compromises
-6gb ram can make hell lot of difference
-inferior GPU than THE ROGUE ( considering 4870)
-if u get a gtx 275.. this board aint sli enabled but crossfire...
suggested upgrades:
-as I said 6gb can bring a LOT of difference..
-add another 5k to budget and get a good gfx card like gtx 285 or 4890 OC (keep checking ebay and techenclave .. with dollar value so less.. it aint a bad idea to import a better card)
- get a monster cooler like v8 or v10( if u have the money) and OC to atleast 3.2Ghz ( u can go upto 4.2 on air!!)...
future:: 4yrs max without touching a thing... 8-10yrs upgrading ram and GPU down the road...
my thoughts::
65k is slightly less (by 5k) to higer midrange segment and far away( by 15k) from actual midrange segment .... so it is well in budget and faaar away(35k) from enthusiast segment(the segment to which i7 belongs to!!!)
There is no doubt tht i7 is the best out there... clubbed with a gtx 275 ( if u take advantage of tht deal) it will certainly outperform THE ROGUE and costs only 10k more...

Just one question - the sub25k pc, it will run Photoshop cs2 also if not properly, then at least decently right...?
Also I hope diablo 3 which is coming and Warcraft will run without any problems!
DS Lite: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Lost Magic, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest IV

Hi guys,
what are your thoughts/comments on the below config ? Planning to run with Win 7 OS. Will be using for AV encoding/photoshopping/gaming/watching HD movies etc
Intel core i7 920 – 14800
Gigabyte X58UD3R – 14500
Transcend 2 x 2GB DDR2 800MHz – 2.2k
Cabinet: CoolerMaster HAF 922 - 6.5k
SMPS: Corsair TX 650W - 7k
Seagate 7200.12 500GB SATAII - 2.8k
Palit GTX 260 Core 216 Sonic - 11k
Benq 24" G2412HD - 11.6k
Can you help me improve or help decrease the cost, in case there's a cheaper/better option available ? How is phenom II compared to i7 ? I read that they give similar performance when it comes to gaming, and its a tad cheaper than i7
