It’s been a while since I’ve been active on IVG — I think around August 2024 — mainly due to downtime and some login/access issues back then. I’m not fully sure how things have been lately, but it’s good to be back for this. World Cup time is always special here, especially with the prediction contest. Some of the best tournament memories on IVG have come from tracking scores, points, and leaderboard drama match by match 😄 So I wanted to bring it back again this year and keep the tradition going. We ran the EURO 2024 contest on WhatsApp because of frequent and long outages on IVG. I personally prefer hosting it here, but many regular participants had login issues (some were resolved, others persisted), so we shifted to WhatsApp. This time, we’ll try running it here alongside WhatsApp to make sure things go smoothly without interruptions. Participants from IVG are absolutely welcome to join through this thread, and I’m hoping IVG stays stable throughout the tournament. Whether you’re on WhatsApp or IVG, it’s all part of the same contest — I’ll keep everything aligned so we all follow one leaderboard and enjoy the tournament together. I just want to keep everyone engaged during the World Cup. Nothing too complicated — just football, predictions, and a bit of friendly competition like always ⚽🔥 -------------------------------------------------------------- Simple game, simple rules... RULES: 1. Participants will submit their scoreline predictions for each Matchday. 2. The deadline for submitting predictions for a Matchday will be before the start of the first match of that Matchday. 3. While posting predictions, please do not interchange the Home and Away teams. 4. Participants are free to post predictions for the entire tournament at once, but it will be more fun if we predict results on a daily basis (or even weekly basis if you are too busy) . 5. Participants are NOT allowed to edit their predictions after submission. If, for any reason, a participant wishes to change a prediction before the deadline, they should strike through the original prediction and post the updated prediction in a new post while quoting the original one. 6. Participants who miss a Matchday deadline may still submit predictions for any matches that have not yet started. For example, if a Matchday consists of four matches and a participant misses the deadline for the first two matches, they may still submit predictions for the third and fourth matches, provided those matches have not kicked off. Any match that has already started at the time the prediction is submitted will be treated as a Missed Prediction (MP). So, predictions must be submitted before kickoff of each individual match to be valid. 7. Missing a prediction will result in a penalty. Missed Prediction (MP) penalty applies when no valid prediction is submitted before kickoff. ------------------------------- KNOCKOUT STAGE RULES: 1. If a match is level after 90 minutes, the scoreline (and outcome) after Extra Time [120' + added/injury time] will be considered correct for the purpose of this contest. 2. This means all three outcomes (Win, Draw and Loss) will still be possible during the Knockout Stage. 3. Goals scored during a Penalty Shootout will not count. 4. Retired Yeh kya poochh liya bhai ... Our FIFA journey ended with the last iteration of FIFA i.e. FIFA23. I thoroughly enjoyed every season of FIFA since joining the IVG, 14 years. Danny bhai @TheDribbler used to host tourneys back then. There were a couple of seasons when we had more than 50 different FIFA players in our IVG tourneys. I still have data of all FIFA tourneys [from 2010-present] and I might calculate and make an all-time table, would be interesting to to see the number of games we have played We had a lot of active FIFA players between FIFA10 - FIFA13. Most guys were still teenagers so they had plenty of time for gaming. And, then once they started working, their gaming activity was cut down drastically. Numbers started to go down after FIFA13, I was also not around for a 2-3 years after the birth of my son, not that I was breastfeeding him but still it was hard to find time and energy for gaming. Once he grew up and I came back, I found very few active players. And, the IVG had seen a decline in general as well. I tried my best to keep the scene active to bring people back to IVG the way I could. Nothing can survive for long without reproducing and the FIFA community didn't produce enough new players. I must say that the login issues didn't help either. I started organising those prediction contests and the FPL just to give people another reason to come back (or stick) to the IVG. It's just my way of contributing towards helping the IVG grow (or sustain ). The contests/tourneys I organise here, making & updating tables, they take a lot of time, but I am happy to do it if it can help bringing even 2 people back to the IVG. I don't know many people on the IVG outside of the FIFA circle, but I love this place. I actually thought it was gone for good when it was down for 3 months. I hope it keeps floating...
