Double Fine Adventure likely to be a 2D game

Double Fine Studio’s Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert have revealed that the upcoming Kickstarter project will be a 2D affair.

In a 35 minute interview with Kickstarter, the game’s co-creators spoke a lot about their upcoming crowd-funded game. The studio’s latest game has been able to raise a startling $2 million through their Kickstarter campaign after hoping to achieve a $400,000 target in 34 days.

“One of the things I missed about the 2D graphic adventures is that you would be able to have a great artist expressing themselves directly on the screen; not having to go through 3D shaders or any other complicated technology that might change or alter their vision.” said Tim Schafer.

“I think it should be all 2D. Old school,” Gilbert added in agreement.

The studio also updated the rewards for those who pledge in:

  • Pledge $30 or more and you’ll get the game documentary’s soundtrack.
  • Pledge $60 and get a digital copy of the game’s art book.
  • Pledge $100 and get a special edition box set containing both the game and a DVD or Blu-Ray of the documentary.
  • Pledge $500 to get a special edition box set along with a Double Fine Adventure Book (filled with 100+ full color pages of concept art, original photos, developer bios, excerpts from the game’s script, deep dark secrets, and more!) .

There are more rewards for pledging other different amounts. Check out the full interview below.
