Rockstar delays Max Payne 3 to May (June for PC)

Rockstar Games, in typical fashion, has delayed the release of Max Payne 3 by another two months from March to May. PC gamers will have to wait till early June. It has been almost ten years since the last Max Payne game came out, and so Rockstar and Take-Two want to do everything to make sure that Max’s return is of the highest quality. “We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our company,” said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two. Max Payne 3 is now scheduled for May 18 on Xbox 360 and PS3, while PC gamers will have to wait till June 1.

Meanwhile, Max Payne creator Remedy Entertainment has hailed Rockstar’s take on the latest in the series. When asked about his impressions on Max Payne 3 by Kotaku, Remedy’s head of franchise development “Ozz” Hakkinen replied in one word, “brilliant”. He went on to add, “We absolutely love what they’ve done and couldn’t be more proud of where the series is headed. I mean, they don’t really make s****y games, do they? It’s as if the Rockstar logo has become this ‘Seal of quality’.”  Remedy had sold the rights to Max Payne to Take-Two in 2002 for $10 million plus company stock.
