IVG GOTY 2008: Terms and Conditions

Standard GOTY Rules and Regulations

• Only registered members of IndianVideoGamer (IVG) are eligible to win prizes in the IndianVideoGamer Game of the Year 2008 Contests (GOTY).
• GOTY will run on IVG all through January 2009.
• IVG Staff (Admins and Mods) and their immediate relatives are not eligible to win prizes in GOTY.
• Only individuals residing in India during the duration of the conests are eligible to win prizes in GOTY.
• Any member found to be entering GOTY using multiple IDs will be disqualified and, as per IVG rules, banned from IVG permanently.
• Incomplete entries or entries deemed inaccurate may be disqualified.
• IVG has the right to disqualify any entry without warning.
• IVG may change the rules of GOTY without warning as it may deem fit.
• IVG Staff will have the final say in all decisions.

Overall category rules and regulations

• Each IVG member may send in a maximum of five entries. Sending more than five entries may lead to disqualification.
• In case a member sends multiple entries, the last one will be considered.
• Enter top 5 games in order of preference (favourite first).
• Only games first released between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008 are eligible in GOTY (eg: Mass Effect is not an eligible entry. Although the PC version released in 2008, the game originally released on Xbox 360 in 2007)
• Games that did not officially release in India are also eligible in GOTY
• If the same game is included more than once, only the first instance will be taken into account. Subsequent occurrences will be considered blank entries.

How the winner of the IndianVideoGamer Overall Game of the Year 2008 COntest is decided:

• Every IVG member must pick his/her own top 5 games of 2008 and list them in order of preference (most preferred game in first place).
• Each time a game is included in a member’s list, it picks up points.
• The higher up a game is placed on a member’s top 5, the more points it picks up:
  • 1st – 5 points
  • 2nd – 4 points
  • 3rd – 3 points
  • 4th – 2 points
  • 5th – 1 point
• Once the contest ends, points picked up by each game are tallied up, helping us arrive at IndianVideoGamer’ Overall Top 5 Games of 2008
• The member whose personal top 5 comes closest to the Overall Top 5 wins the contest and grand prize
• If more than one member is tied for the grand prize, a tie-breaker will decide the winner. The details of the tie-breaker will be announced if/when the need arises.

Other category rules and regulations

• Each member must vote for his favourite nominee in the category thread
• In addition, the member must mention his choice as a post in the thread. Nominee voted for and posted must be the same.
• Failing to perform either of the two above tasks will result in an invalid entry
• Once the poll is closed, one of the members who have voted and posted their choice in the thread, will be selected as the winner
• The winner will be picked at random, regardless of whether he/her voted for the poll-winner
