Oil lobby is either already looking ahead of their conventional business or looking to squeeze every last bit of it. Look at RIL, they are foraying heavily into Solar Modules and Green Hydrogen and selling a part of their oil business to Aramco. Aramco wants to eke out every last dollar and hence the stake purchase. Even IOC and JSW Energy are locked in a race to commercialize green hydrogen at large scale. Oil has years of life left in it because that's the only thing which can power cargo ships and planes right now. I reckon Oil companies will soon shift majorly to such specialized fuels. Adapt or perish. Only thing which can create an obstacle is the Govt. itself. Everyone knows how they have been lying through the skin of their teeth about the Oil bond liability but the truth is that Central+State earn a huge chunk of tax from oil to pay their debts and squeeze the middle class to discount the corporates. So they might delay alternative fuels like Hydrogen for something like 2nd gen ethanol which can cushion that tax loss momentarily but then again Mota Bhai is the govt. and is going ahead with hydrogen, so you never know.
