oh sh*t you might be right. i deliberately refused to do quests after taking them (thus causing them to fail) so that i could get another one in it's place. the reason being that the location of those quests were randomly generated, and i needed the quests to be in specific places to progress towards another goal.

Other than the well rested bonus why is there a need to cure it? Beast mode is quite awesome imo.
2 words... sanguinare vampiris.

I've sided with Stormcloacks because Imperials were cutting my head at the beginning of the game. Also, Skyrim belongs to Nords!
so you basically sided with the racists then?
-
Question.
I haven't sided with Imperials and Stormcloaks yet. Thinking of doing that since the other quests are getting boring off late. What are the benefits of joining either?
i'd like to know this too. this is the last faction chain i have left in the game, and i can't decide which side to take.

tyler you were complaining about the ingame stat tracking yesterday... check out how many thieves guild quests it's showing that i have completed

wow how did i reach 175 reps. is there any profile page where one can see which old posts people repped?

zombie chickens wtf

they actually have a page for first time players as well - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:First_Time_Players
very useful info there. i'd recommend reading that and starting the game off, as there are lots of spoilers on the rest of the site which you wouldn't want to run into accidentally.

not sure about the main story. i just did the first few missions then forgot about it

as for which race to choose... i don't believe it matters all that much. each race has some minor bonuses attached but it's not like they will significantly alter your playing experience. you can read up on races here - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Character_Creation
this is the best resource for skyrim information - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim

Need advice...
I'm getting SKYRIM as a gift this weekend but the game is not at all my cup of tea. Mostly cuz of the long dialogues and those question n answer sessions etc. Infact all the depth in customisation and making choices and all doesn't interest me much. So basically I wanted to ask that can I NOT care about the story and dialogues much and STILL enjoy the game?
I mean I love Assasins Creed... can I enjoy this game like that? Or is it so complex that to enjoy it i'll have to get deep into it and invest a lot of time just to learn to enjoy the game?
Is it a pick up and play kinda game?
Dont bash me for the ignorance i've never played such a game before. (Am I overthinking it?)

Looking forward for suggestion for how i can enjoy the game without dedication...
you are kind of overthinking it mate. you've already decided that you don't like dialogues and customization and all that, but what if it's interesting? it's a 200 hour game but that doesn't mean you need to play right to the end or that you can't enjoy the journey there. maybe you'll like it enough to finish it. or maybe you'll enjoy the first 50 hours and then something else catches your interest. there are millions of people enjoying the game right now and it's not like they have to dedicate their lives to skyrim to enjoy it. it's a fairly easy game to pick up... it's not like you will get overwhelmed by the complexity. it actually encourages you to play in whichever style you want to play, and your game experience will change according to that.
point being, go in with an open mind and you might find yourself enjoying it. the first 30 minutes or so are linear and after that you are left to do whatever you please. you will get a hint to go to the starting village but you don't have to. just start walking in any direction and explore the beautiful world. hunt animals if you want to. pick flowers if you want to. go to a village if you want to. talk to people in the bar and see what's happening in their lives. people will ask your help... listen to what they say and help them if you want to. or don't if you think it's boring. you can play the main story if you want to. there are many side stories you can choose to follow if you want to... in case the theme isn't clear to you by now, you do whatever the hell you want to do in this game. if you want a directed experience, follow the story paths. if you want a sandbox, start exploring. the real enjoyment of this game comes from getting absorbed into the game world.

Thanks... will try the SKSE.
BTW it seems like some of the data on the stats screen is quite misleading. Apart from the incorrect Werewolf status which we spoke about earlier, the stats say that my favorite magical school is Illusion... WTF? I have barely used any Illusion spells and haven't put a single perk into it. However I'm using Destruction spells all the time!
Also... *early game spoiler*
some random NPC commented about my "wolfish grin" the other day. And here I was thinking my lycanthropy was cured. I no longer get rested bonus, people and ingame stats still think I'm a werewolf and I can't even bloody transform anymore! It's like now I have the worst of both worlds :\
yea i forgot to mention this to you the other day. remember how i said that i wasn't getting rested xp? well it wasn't happening for a while, but a couple of days ago i tried sleeping and woke up feeling rested. that means it somehow got fixed for me. or maybe there's a minimum amount of time you need to sleep to get rested xp. try sleeping for 24 hours once and see if that works. even if it doesn't, randomly try sleeping in the game now and then. who knows it might get fixed on it's own. as far as the ingame stat tracking goes, it still shows it for me but meh who cares at this point.

maybe he realized that he didn't want to be the next broussard.

i uploaded the exact same video to youtube

guess everyone likes this mission.
I too am finding the driving a bit stiff compared to the previous game. Also riding bikes feels glitchy. Half of the time bikes get clipped into the environment and roads. It's definitely not as frustrating as GTA IV but not perfect either.
opposite for me. handling seems too loose. it's all over the place, like you're driving on ice.

BTW, the patch has seemingly broken my resistances (as it has for many). My saves are fine and the game still works great but I'm pretty sure my resistances no longer work. I had major trouble fighting a Frost Dragon last night. Earlier I used to take very little damage from them thanks to my frost resistance.
yea resistances are gone. i noticed the lack of the 50% racial passive frost resistance myself. the issue can be fixed with the latest version of the skse - http://forums.bethso...resistance-bug/
So i want to talk of a big bug, a bug called Dragon.
I am a lowly level 8, sword and magic yielding imperialist. (just havent had time recently to play).
Me and Lydia (whom i have given a bow and a great sword) we trekking through the open lands on a quest and walked into an area with a Dragon.
Now at the time of last quick save, this guy is on top of my head and about to attack. I have played this umpteen times, but seldom get even close to dragon's 50% health before i die.
Any tips to get him?
I do have two scrolls of fireball, but cant get to use it. (whats the key combo for this, whilst using a game controller?)
pretty low level to come across a dragon. anyway, the first dragon fights are always the hardest, but they will become much easier as you get used to. until of course you meet the elder dragons after level 40 or so.
try and line of sight the dragon. if it's going to attack you, hide behind a rock or something to avoid the flame blast. if you have any potions that give you fire or frost resistance, use them. magic is quite weak at early levels (and later levels actually :\) so try and do physical damage to it. if you can get behind it, use melee. otherwise get the bow and arrows out and start plugging away at it's health. it won't regenerate, so it's basically a question of staying alive and killing it slowly. when it's flying, run and find cover and don't take damage. when it's on the ground, pop out of cover, fire your arrow and go back in. hide when it's attacking. don't let it get too close or it will grab you in it's mouth for an instant kill. charge up your fireball scroll from behind cover and hit it when it's not attacking. since you have only 2, make them count. if nothing works, just get the hell out of there. dragons will be very common all through the game, so there's nothing lost in skipping one dragon fight.
my first solo dragon kill took me a good 20 minutes to do. it becomes easier with practice.

This is why you should avoid internet discussions about TV shows.

goes both ways. in this particular case, the discussion of this particular twist over the last few weeks has actually been more entertaining than the show itself. they didn't really disguise it well, so if anyone was completely blown away by it, well... let's just say the lights were a bit dim.
-
if you took part in any discussion about dexter anywhere on the internet, the twist was no surprise at all.

K guys, i've upgraded my broadband plan, I'm starting off these shows
1. Suits
2. Homeland
3. Person of Interest
All 3 have good ratings. Worth it? Reviews?
i don't think person of interest is that good. kind of had a good idea but they haven't really delivered. homeland went south after the first few episodes too, but it's a short season so might as well watch it. suits was pretty fun.

as always, ea games have regional pricing. dead space 2 is 5$ in the north american steam store, so if possible obtain it from there.
-
don't buy a ps3 copy. get pc from steam/gmg or wait for the 360 version to come back into stock. milo mentioned that the distributors didn't import a lot of copies of the console versions of the game and in a way it's understandable... there's hardly anyone talking about it even here on ivg so the demand must be pretty low.
-
yea i'll continue playing in the hope that it gets better. i did the first genki reality tv thing and it left me cold. one more mission after that and i couldn't wait for it to finish so i could quit. hope i'm getting close to the good stuff.

i think performance issues might be an ati feature. i'm not having any slowdowns while playing.
the game itself is kind of boring me. the main story is basically a tutorial for all the different kinds of activities you can do in the game, and i'm finding about half of them to be quite mundane and i'm just going through the motions. i already do not want to repeat them after one go, so i don't really know where the fun is hiding in the game :\

red faction armageddon is 390 bucks on impulse, and it registers to steam. decent game that most people ignored.

you can go out during the day but your vital stats are significantly reduced. in any case, vampirism >>> lycanthropy if for no other reason than the fact that it's an active way to play the game instead of having a button to become a wolf once a day and that's it.
