The point is about labeling a game "Undeserving" IF!! it ever won a title
as long as you accept that it 'won' because of popularity alone and not because it's actually the best. call it the most popular game, not the best game of 2011.
-
& to fix what you just said Skirim prolly blows UC3 when we compare the quantity & not quality
how would you know this when you haven't even played it? skyrim embarrasses uncharted 3 in quanity, let's not even go there. but skyrim is a better game in quality as well... it has more depth, more freedom, better immersion and very few design flaws, an issue which plagues uncharted 3.
-
But you can't present it as "non deserving"
Coz if it or MW3 are gaining more popularity then they are doing it for a reason
skyrim blows uncharted 3 away when you compare quality. the only reason uncharted 3 will win over skyrim or anything else is because far more people will play it and thus vote for it, not because it's a better game. that's the very definition of 'non deserving'.

There are far better games this year than UC3 nd all...Skyrim,Batman,Witcher 2,DeusEx and Portal 2....These are real GOTY contenders..imo
i wouldn't put the witcher 2 in my own goty contenders list but otherwise i agree with what you said. and yea, uc3 will win the goty poll on this board even though it doesn't even come close to being good enough for it.
-
Unfortunately as far as IVG goes I can bet that UC3 will beat Skyrim in GOTY polls.
the goty opinion of anyone who hasn't played skyrim is quite irrelevant as far as i'm concerned.

grats on the kindle cody.

limbo won't go down to 2$. it might be a daily deal but i really wouldn't hope for more than the current 50% off on such a new game. then again, orcs must die is even newer and down to 75% off, so who knows.
thinking of putting some money into the steam wallet before the rupee crashes even more. the rbi is completely failing to control the depreciation of the currency, so it can easily go lower.
also, orcs must die, yay or nay?

I lost 10 hours by playing offline, it didn't register when I logged into Steam. Also, level up your skills to 100. Buy, enchant and sell daggers to increase Smithing and Enchanting. Sneak can be increased to 100 pretty easily too. Destruction I have at 75; One-handed is very high as well. My Speech skill is at 100 too, and I completed most of the questlines; only Deadric is left.
meh. powerleveling ruins the experience. looking through your achievements, it seems to me that you're rushing through the main quest chains. you haven't completed even 10 sidequests yet, nor 50 misc. objectives, nor have you activated a single standing stone. brother you need to slow down and savor the experience... the game is about exploration and doing different things, and not about reaching the end.
39 hours, lvl 22 here (I think). Haven't touched the main quest after the first dragon. Finished Companions and Whiterun quests, halfway through Winterhold College. A few random quests here and there. Lots and lots of exploration. Thieves Guild and DB still untouched.
i would strongly recommend you continue the main story for another couple of quests. i believe they are important to full enjoying the game. you can stop the main quest after that. but seriously, do the next couple of them.
Man u people really hate oblivion don u

I thought its on of the best games this gen
oblivion is good, skyrim is just so much better. if you must, pick up the oblivion goty in a steam sale (it was down to 300 bucks or so a week ago, and this will happen again). but i would say just skip it now and invest in skyrim.
the goty polls this year will have 2 kinds of people - those who voted skyrim and those who haven't played skyrim.

I'm over level 50, and just awesome. That is all.
wtf. how are you at level 50 in 45 hours played and i'm still at level 33 after 65 hours played?
-
Rupee will go even lower.. 55Rs to a $ they are saying...

wtf seriously? who is 'they'?
-
this is hands down the game of the year 2011, as well as being one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life.
-
You should have just got it on console. The way it's meant to be played.

your custom title needs to change from root admin to 'rubber of salt in wounds'

-
lol at the homeland 'twist'. just lol. at this point they're just f**king with the viewers

-
that looney tunes collection is pretty fantastic. great buy dude.
-
lol you've never played a bethesda game have you

for future reference, chickens are psychic. if they see you committing a crime, they will report you to the guards and you will go to jail. if you kill them, the townspeople will hunt your a*s down.
moral of the story - stay away from the f**king chickens

-
Wow. It sounds like the game deliberately holds back information to make you buy the guide. If this is true, shouldn't people be up in arms about it?
yea this game definitely walks on that line. it's one thing to make the game hard, but they made it obscure to the point that they don't even explain basic game mechanics. first time you reach a bonfire, you won't know what half the options mean. it's not even explained in the manual.

PC version from retail for ~600 bucks. Buying from Steam costs $50.
the irony. oh the irony

-
Just realised market.android.com allows you to remotely install apps on your android

wtf

But yeah I see your point. It's about time devs put Manual/Quick saves in PC ports. I don't see it happening anytime soon though. Heck GTA IV (the main game) still had the archaic save system.
like you said, pc version should have proper saves. but it's not even a debate about checkpoints vs quicksaves. if you want to put checkpoints in a game, fine, but at least save state at the checkpoints. why is it necessary to only save the state before missions?
^^ Tell me about it man. I hate these IT "prisons". Magarpatta, Hinjewadi, Kharadi. Remind me of Arkham City... for IT professionals.
i used to work in hinjewadi. out in the middle of nowhere, looks like the fallout wasteland, horrible commute home (even though i lived in aundh which is relatively close)... blech.
-
Krosis?
-
Someone please tell how. The only way I see that happening is by joining the Imperials. And I really don't want to do that at this point of the game.
haven't done it yet but i've read that you can stealth the entire last section where you rescue that guy.
-
oh hey, opening the console to progress the mission. there's another thing you can't do in saints row 3.
i don't hate the game or the developer because of a couple of glitches. was just pointing them out, and how the frustration caused by them is exacerbated by poor design choices when it comes to saving game state. the game seems rather fragile when i can accidentally break it twice in the first 5 missions.
Those are manual saves or quicksaves. Games like Saints Row and Infamous don't have them during missions.
no sh*t sherlock. the question is why not.
-
I did the same thing you did, pressing E, but didnt face any issue.
in my case, my character got off on the roof but nothing happened. invisible walls all around the building, couldn't take up the sniper position, couldn't get back into the chopper.
(in fact I can't even think of any at the moment).
for shame.
have you heard of skyrim? -
Its by Violition, they aren't a AAA game developer. Skyrim has even major bugs.
skyrim is also about a hundred times more complex, not to mention a hundred times better. 'volition isn't a AAA developer' is no excuse for poor design.
Well I cant think of any open world game that saves mid mission. You have check points to respawn, but they are not counted as saves. Infamous 2, RDR, GTA EFLC etc all have mid mission checkpoints, but they are not save games.
so because other games also have bad design, it's okay for this one? and how conveniently you forget about skyrim in your list
. there's an open world game that lets you save anywhere. ideally, that's how it should be but if you must implement checkpoints, at least let game state be saved at checkpoints. and hey, this wouldn't even be such a big problem if the player didn't have to keep repeating missions because of glitches that you couldn't test out.

except that it's not apples and oranges, both are comparable, one is far superior to the other and without having played either of them you're basically talking out of your a*s
