  1. Planning to buy this ... its going to set me back by 80k but is it worth it???

    1 x Abit AN9 32X Motherboard

    2 x GeCube ATI Radeon HD4850 512MB GC-HD485PG3-E3 Graphics Card

    1 x AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ Processor

1 x Cooler Master Ammo 533 Computer Case

    1 x Corsair CMPSU-620HX 620W Power Supply

    1 x ViewSonic 22" VX2255WMB/WMH LCD Monitor

    1 x Corsair XMS2 4GB DDR2 800MHz TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX Memory

1 x iball Compact Sleek Multimedia (Black) w/USB ext. Port Keyboard

    1 x Logitech 931669-0132 Mouse

+ suggestion for speakers needed + i have my doubts about the monitor also .. suggestions are welcome .. :)

    Just my opinions,

    Ditch the AMD processor.

    Get a Core2Duo E8400 + ABIT IP35-E.

Get a Dell E228WFP or SP2208WFP over the Viewsonic.

The said power supply is an elegant choice.

And, if you just got an 8800GT and plan on getting a 22" widescreen, I wouldn't bother with the Dual HD 4850s.

Come to think of it, getting a 750i SLI instead and running 8800GT SLI would be a better choice for you than getting 2 new Radeon's for CrossFire.

  2. I wouldn't honestly even be looking for SLI or CrossFire as a deciding factor in my motherboard purchase, well maybe I would, but it would totally depend on the size of the display. Would a 22" widescreen really need 2x 8800GT's or 2x HD 4850s? And I'm still sort of skeptical with regards to the whole multi GPU hooplah, I would take a single fast card anyday. But again, this is all just me.

Patriot seems good, but every website I've visited seems to hold names like Crucial, G.Skill and Mushkin in high regard. However, personal experience speaks a lot louder than 100 reviews. :P

MT, I do not think the 8800GT can do Tri-SLI, I might be wrong though. I'm certain the 9800GTX is capable of this, however.

  3. I recently acquired Mass Effect and Battlefield: Bad Company (Gold Edition). No pics at the moment, so you are just going to have to take my word for it. My characters name in Mass Effect is 'Angus' Shepard.

I am also, not very pleased that the box of the X360 version of BF: BC (Gold) doesn't look as sweet the PS3 version's.

  4. EVGA certainly know how to appeal to the 'elite' market by using one of the internet's dearest acronyms.

Edit: I didn't visit any tech news/rumors sites over the past few days, and I've just come to know that the HD 4870 X2 may contain 2GB of video memory. Is this confirmed or what?

  5. I'd take a P35 based motherboard anyday over a 780i, cheaper too.

I personally don't have brand preference, but I'd take the HD 4850 over the 8800GT atm, definitely. 8800GT seems like a moot point to me, just my opinion though.

  6. never got into Nas much....Illmatic was good, didn't like his other stuff

    peace

God's Son was good, in my humble opinion.

    Any Arctic Monkeys fans here?

Yeah, Viva la Vida is great, I still prefer Parachutes like atleast 5x over it.

  7. Overplaying atm

    • Interpol - Untitled
    • Franz Ferdinand - Darts Of Pleasure
    • Bloc Party - Emma Kate's Accident
    • Trust Company - Falling Apart
    • Phantom Planet - Turn Smile Shift Repeat
    • Death Cab For Cutie - Tiny Vessels
    • Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit
    • Arctic Monkeys - View From The Afternoon

  8. ^Yup. The upcoming Intel Quad-Cores are better, check out Nehalem benchmarks, they offer a very good speed advantage.

Plus as already stated, atm a nice fast Core2Duo is a better option over a Core2Quad. You can go in for Nehalem a few years down the line when DDR3 is a standard, and the Quads drop to prices less than 180$.

The new socket is called LGA 1336 or LGA 1366 or something like that. I don't remember exactly.

  9. I suggested mine in case he isn't planning on upgrading after shelling out this 20k, but in the case he's willing to spend some more for the graphics a while later, yes, go with the E8400.

And I'd suggest a P35 based mobo over the 650i, just my opinion though.

  10. h3lios,

    Intel Core2Duo E7200 @ 2.53 Ghz - INR 5900

    ABIT IP35-E Intel P35 ATX Motherboard - INR 5350

    G.Skill PQ 4GB (4x 1GB) DDR2-800, CL5 - INR 4600

    Palit GeForce 9600GSO 384MB 192 Bit GDDR3 - INR 6500

Total comes to 22,350. Although this is from ITWares. idk when they last updated their page. Prices may be cheaper now.

If it's the same price and you are on a really tight budget, I guess you could settle for 2GB memory for the time being. According to their price sheet, that 2GB G.Skill kit is 2300, so the price comes to exactly 20,050. :(

Since you have a 19" widescreen, I'd assume the 9600GSO would be good for you. :scratchchin:

    I hope this helped.

  11. The sad part about all this is that i have no damn internet access which is killing me but the good part is i have decided upon a place and they have an Airtel connection there and its a pretty awesome i guess. I would say gadgets are bloody useless without internet, its like internet contributes 30% to any gadget.

    Amen.

  12. i know im a little late on this but i only just heard daughtry today after the CD was literally shoved into my hands and i was given orders to listen to it....i like it, but i expected him to be a little less mushy and nickelbacky.....still good to listen to

    peace

His music is on my good side. The acoustic version of 'Crashed' is pretty epic.
