    good news: dell really rocks.. i sent a demand draft to the company(@Bangalore) for this 22" monitor but it was not available and they told me this after the dd reached them. i was so pissed off by their irresponsible behavior. but this really turned out to be a blessing in disguise.. to compensate for their blunder, they offered to give me a 24" monitor instead of the one that i ordered.. and the good thing is that they r giving me at the same price as the 22" one and this one got even better features, the most important to mention Full HD capability ie. 1920X1080 i.e. 1080p.. now it cant get sweeter than this. the order has been placed and i should receive it next week ;)

    bad news: got a scratch on my dear SX4 today due to a highly trafficked road in Jalandhar :dance:

    i want a sequel to SoTC(i know ICO is a sequel to SoTC storywise but i want sth in the lines of SoTC itself). imagine more colossi and that too on High Def... that will be true glory!!! :D

    ^^ Bsnl blocking all those sites( google , wiki and GI!)? Are you sure? I never had any problems like that till date.

    Could it be some other issue?

    i guess that's the problem with my BSNL network only cos i am in a small town.. sometimes the website loads after refreshing the page abt 10 times

     

    Most likely his company is blocking words like proxy,annonymous etc using either a software like Squidguard or through the router or something.

    Its not very safe to log through proxy servers to your facebook,orkut or anywhere else which needs your username/pass since most of these websites don't offer encrypted or SSL connection to the websites.

    What kind of shipping have u paid for game/console. I mean i was just checking the shipping rate for X360 to India and its just 5 pounds which is a bit less i think :s

    @Harsahil - using proxy servers is generally asking for trouble. there are proxy servers which are hosted inside the network and they are safe. internet proxy servers are usually unsafe. you are accessing a site which is anonymising a URL to the campus network - that should start ringing alarm bells. also there's a good chance the computer going through the proxy server will be attacked by spyware, not to mention attacking the network computers.

    a better way to go around the firewall software - find the tech geek in the university to find a way through without using the proxy server. there's usually an internal IP open to the network - you need to find that.

    also here's how most internet firewall softwares work - find a series of letters in the URL, or block by page category - and block some specific sites, or only open a range of IPs. the first is easiest to get around.

    letters in the url is common - block everything which has a set of defined words, or has mp3 / exe, etc.

    block by website category - this is rarely used, and is usually turned on by the idiotic network administrators who are too dumb to figure the software out. i saw this twice - once in a large IT company - they ended up opening only business sites. so everything else was blocked - including google.

    block specific sites - that's simple. again no way to go around other than using a proxy server.

    open only a range of IPs - if this is the case, there's nothing that can be done by the user - not even a proxy server helps. this is usually used by banks.

    thanks guys..will advice her not to use the proxy servers cos that means spyware attack and stealing of info. interesting fact guys.

    hmm i got a bad back muscles' spasm so i am advised to take bed rest so what i ve been doing for the last 3 days is watch movies on ma PSP.. watched 3 movies:

    1. 300( i guess for the 3rd time :thumbsup:)

    2. 10000BC- gr8 special effects

    3. Apocalypto- awesome movie. gr8 work Mel Gibson. i found this movie much better than 10000BC. every action sequence is so beautifully made and lots of gore and violence are there in the movie. :(

    my bad. i always check this out except this time. :P or may be its because i m having some problems accessing this site nowadays. BSNL is randomly blocking sites everyday.. day before yesterday i couldn't use google and affiliates(gmail and orkut), yesterday i couldnt access GI and today i cannot access Wikipedia :rolleyes:

     

    you can access any block website using this site. http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html . cant help u with downloading stuff. good luck

    for pc experts :P : wat is the proxy sever?? i mean is it some way to evade the locking of websites by institutes and office?.. the problem is that my cousin studies in a university in Punjab where they provide free wi-fi internet to whole of the campus and she's got a laptop. she noticed that recently she wasn't able to browse most of social networking sites like orkut and not able to download any files on internet. looks like the uni has blocked most of them. then someone told her that there's a way to evade the blocking by using a proxy server or sth. i m totally noob in this case because i never had to think abt this thing until now so i guess u guys could help me out. many of u guys work in offices where they also practice the same kind of 'blocking' thing and some of u must be using some ways to evade this. right?
