What are the decent full-array backlit TVs available that are priced economically?

Decent "full-array" backlit. I think only Sony x900H fit the bill because anything less is grey screen city.

Edit: Samsung Frame 2020 is edge lit.

Big up, I'm a huge HP fan too! Getting into reading is better with fiction rather than non fiction tbh, you can get into non fiction later. Plus fiction books are amazing as well.

    1. Mistborn (by Brandon Sanderson) - Its a fantasy trilogy by my favourite author, and probably the best place to enter the fantasy rabbit hole.

The magic system here works on the system of ingestion of metals basically. For example, "consuming" pewter grants strength, while "consuming" tin grants you sensory skills, and so on.

Very few individuals are able to use one of the metals. Even rarer, you have a person who can utilize ALL of the metals, being 'Mistborn'.

The society is oppressed by the evil lord called 'The Lord Ruler'. We follow a heist crew looking to pull off the biggest heist of all time, led by Kelsier who is a Mistborn.

Fantasy is my favourite genre, and this would make my top 5 series of all time. Its only 3 books, and since you liked HP you probably do like fantasy.

    2. Hunger Games (by Suzanne Collins) - Dystopian trilogy. You know the story if you've seen the movie adaptation. If you haven't, the basic plot is that far in the future, Panem is split up into 12 districts. These districts rebelled against the oppressive Capitol who sit above them, but the rebellion was quelled. As penanance, the "Hunger Games' are put on for the entertainment for te rich folk in the Capitol every year. Every district must send two 'tributes' to enter the arena for a fight till death. At the 74th Hunger Games, a young girl, far too young is picked to be the tribute, but her elder sister Katniss Everdeen volunteers to save her sister.

You could also check out the Maze Runner, has similar vibes to be honest.

    3. Bad Blood (by John C.) - This is a non fiction but like @Bird Bird Bird once said, this reads like a fiction. A thriller at heart, its about the corporation Theranos which was a Silicon Valley startup doing blood testing which turned out to be a bunch of lies. Its a very famous book.

I'd recommend fantasy as its my favourite, and I of course, have endless recommendations. If you're not feeling these, just ask :)

I am not much interested in Hunger Games because the latter movies killed the series for me.

I know books are much better and acclaimed but I am not excited by the story.

Fantasy fiction is right up my alley but I am open to real-world books as well.

Will get the other two and start with them. Thanks!

Now thats cool parenting! I'm glad my parents got me to love reading as a kid, good luck!

And I love international relations and the UN and things like that, I'm ordering that book right away!

I haven't been into reading per se.

Probably Harry Potter is the only series I have read properly (huge HP nerd). But I am trying to get into it.

So any suggestions for the beginner? Will obviously prefer physical books, my eyes need some relief with the digital stuff afters years of those maths textbooks.

I didn't think of that. I will check out a couple of videos to get familiar with what to look for.

Nothing much to check, just run any dead pixel checker on YouTube in front of the installation guy and pause the video at different colors to search for any dead pixel.

If there is any excessive banding, like very noticeable bars then they will be visible during this check only. Otherwise grey uniformity checks are also there on YouTube and only at low gamma % (30-40), you should be able to make bars out with them fading out as it goes higher and almost being invisible.

Retail is already oversubbed. Max 1 lot possible. Get listing gain, and out.

Just looked at it in detail. Completely dressed up for IPO, not sure if they will be able to even maintain pre-March'20 levels. Not gonna invest.

The profits have increased due to almost zero marketing and other cost saving measures during the pandemic, and are bound to decrease the moment is pumped back to such activities. However, Pigeon is a pretty strong brand, and they have good mindshare in South India.

I was looking at other metrics, and I think the whole category will benefit due to PMUY. I believe SK has signed a deal with many gas companies to provide appliances with new gas connections.

I was thinking along these lines only but budget is a big unknown. SK will provide some listing gain but for long term, I will wait for a couple of weeks after budget is out.

I don't think so because this scheme was originally launched to ensure that the govt employees could claim LTC even though they couldn't travel due to Covid.

Both of my parents are central govt. employees, not just mom. And their dept. has communicated that one needs to spend 3 times the LTC amount and 1 times the leave encashment. So one will be reimbursed the LTC and leave encashment amount and will get tax rebate on the equivalent of the LTC amount.

Obviously, there might be differences in actual reimbursement and rebate.

And my dad is at quite a good level in hierarchy so he will get sizeable chunk of reimbursement (more than my mom), so he will be applying instead of my mom.

Just placed an order for 55" Sony x9000h at Croma after a lot of hunting for stock. It will still take around a week to be delivered. Actual cost is around 105k, but I am also getting:

15k cash back in 90 days

15k for my TCL tv that is 3 years old

    12k income tax rebate

Seems pretty cheap! But I have to wait for the delivery and installation.

Congrats bro. Good price. Give the tv a thorough check upon installation, look out for any dead pixels or extensive banding. But hopefully, it will be all fine.

Yeah, will call in a day or two. Hopefully they don't f**k up.

Also if the logistic delay is due to farmer protest situation in Delhi, then delivery from Amazon/FK will most likely be impacted too. Maybe Croma already managed to get the stock in stores, so they're confident of delivering.

I don't know man, is your SC branch named "You are too gullible bro" as well? :giggle:

Apne croma wale se mera bhi jugaad karwade bhai

some outlets would indeed receive extra stock  besides pre-orders

Bhai maine toh 2 unit order krne ki koshish ki thi udhar se. Ki kisi ka kaam ban jaye IVG pe but they were only able to order 3 units, so 1 each customer.

Puchunga about any Day 1 stocks.

Don't fall for his comments. He's just trolling. I fell for it twice already -_-

    I knew he was. Lol.

Anyway, a friend of mine who ordered offline from an SC in Gurgaon, was told by the dealer that the delivery might be delayed by a few days, some logistic problem their own chain probably specific to Delhi NCR.

While the croma guy sent me a pic of the shipping labels for the units and tells me that 2nd feb date is on track as they have received their allocation and now their own logistics will handle it.

    Let's see.
