Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has said that Criterion Games, quite renowned for their work on Burnout franchisee and Need For Speed franchisee is currently working on a military shooter for Electronic Arts according to his newest industry note. Pachter also concludes that this game could be a 2014 Battlefield spin-off, being doubtful that Battlefield 4 will be delayed by developer DICE after EA’s 2015 fiscal year which ends 31st March, 2015.

Pachter says,” We believe this speculation is unfounded.”

He adds,“ Although EA has as yet to announce a Battlefield extension for FY15, we believe Criterion Games is working on a military shooter that may become a brand extension for the Battlefield franchise in FY15.”

“We spoke with management on Thursday afternoon, and although they have not yet announced a version of Battlefield for FY15, they confirmed that our understanding is spot on and that if a version of Battlefield were to be released in FY15, it would be developed by a studio other than DICE.”

This might turn out to be true after all considering that Criterion Games no longer develops Need For Speed games and has first hand experience with FPS games (Black). The question which still remains unanswered is that whether it will be just another Battlefield game or will it be a brand new first person military shooter by Electronic Arts, only time will answer!
