  1. You know you are talking about defy, right? A drop from 10 feet would probably do nothing. There are tricks on the internet for breaking this phone. He is not kidding around.

10 feet ?? Sir I play catch with this phone :)

Had googled it a lot before buying .. there are 4 different defy(s) in my family now and all of them are being used brutally :D

  2. I have never seen a single high end smartphone in my company without a case. (everyone has S2/S3/Note/2/One X/iPhone/Grand, and almost everyone in top management has Note 1 or 2) So there is a reason why millions buy Galaxy devices, because they dont care much about build quality as they are going to use a case anyways.

CONDOM NA CHADHA LO PHONE KE OOPAR !!!!

After paying <30K for a phone, I dont want to cover it with some other cheap plastic or fibre.

This is why I am using Moto Defy, decent performance.. and I dont use any screen guard or case.. I throw it on my bed/couch... and give it occasional baths.

  3. Same here, my son is only 2.5 and can play all the mentioned games and Joe Danger - Joe Danger :O he knows when to jump, when to duck when to click on the barricades :panic:

but at the same time he can count effortlessly to 30 thanks to the awesome kids apps on iPad. I was surprised myself when I saw this. I had downloaded this calculator app on ipad that lets you write and can guess formulas. I was doing a calculation when he said "3". I was taken back. I wrote 4 he said 4 and then so on. I felt like pushing him and wrote numbers in random fashion 3, 8, 2, 12, 22. He was bang on all the time. My wife did not know whether to cry or to smile. Though I think she shed a tear. Women :)

    THAT IS REALLY COOL :D

  4. yeah, he does game. He is around 2.5 years now and he plays stuff like jetpack joyride, angry birds etc.. But the one game that amazes me is Doors. He can play frickin' doors. :O

Only concern I have is that he is growing up on touch interfaces. He won't adapt to pointing devices like mice/touchpad well

Good that he is picking up really fast.

And if you are worried about him not used to peripherals, then dont worry coz I believe when he will be of your age, everything will be either touch or motion based. I guess peripherals would be history. I remember my dad kept bugging me to practise on his typewriter :P

Also, here is one of my theories; I believe our forthcoming generations would not know how to write. All of them would have devices to type and so the kids who could write on paper would be very rare. Imagine, one day your kids will bring a new kid from his school and say, "Hey dad, guess what my friend here can write." :D

  5. All parents make mistakes, every generation faces a different set of challenges. At the same time, kids turn out just fine.

Unless of course, the parents are extremely careless, in which case the chances of emotional/psychological damage in children are very high.

One of my biggest concerns in bringing up a child in today's world is : the amount of information kids are exposed to, is tough to contain. TV/mobile/gadgets/Internet/radio/music/etc., can't control every source of information. I feel it is more important how children process what they see/hear, rather than simply trying to control what they are exposed to.

Speaking all this as a parent. Not everyone can understand this from the same perspective unless you are a parent as well.

I have a 4 year old niece and a 7 months old son.. and to be honest, I am now worried about how my son will turn out.

I dont want him to be 'the typical delhi boy' (the memes Nemo bombarded with us with) :P

  6. My first post in this thread, and here is my phone history:

My very first phone.. Motorola C300

    c300-2.jpg

  7. nah, we are totally like 'murica. violence, dismembered limbs, blood curling screams et all are fine but throw in a side bewb or a swear and children 'get' traumatized :|

the other day i was showing dad and sister 300. we were all happy and cheerful with mouths agape as spartans with abs carved by zeus himself were literally tearing persians a new one but once the xerxes harem scene came, i got angry stares from everyone.

My family is kinda cool with this stuff.. unless its full frontal nudity or non-simulated sex scene.. then I change or turn it off :)

  8. dafuq ! what has that got to do with apna UP ?? nalas are everywhere and so are mobile addicts.

Bhai sahab... incident nahi reportage dekhiye :D

First: The language; "उसे सामने का कतई ध्यान नहीं था।" I thought I was the only person left who regularly used this word कतई. This is one awesome word.

    Besides.. see how many one liners the reporter used to create the whole article; "युवती के कपड़े कीचड़ में हो गये थे। लोग उसे बागला अस्पताल लेकर पहुंचे। यहाँ उसका उपचार भी कराया गया.."

This is the kind of reporting I have never seen anywhere other than UP. I remember this guy called Sunil Patrakaar living outside our ancestral home in UP. He had no job.. was an alcoholic with no family and so he used to go to the local office of Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran and Punjab Kesri and provide them with the details of local incidents. In return the newspapers would give him some money to spend on booze and he got his name published in the newspaper.

If we wanted to get something in the papers, the only thing we needed was some booze :)

Now.. coming out of the flashback, my excitement was towards the nature of the reporting.

Imagine a girl falling into a 'naala'... and if that wasnt embarrassing enough for her, somebody took a picture of her.

... and on top of that.. it got bloody published. :punk:

    HAIL UP !!! :D:arigato:
