I have a desktop computer,wiz.

MSI P45 Neo-F,2x2GB Transcend(800 Mhz),Sapphire HD 4850 512 MB,WDC 640GB Green power,Corsair VX 450W,NZXT Apollo Chassis and Dell US 2208WFP

bought on 2nd October,2008.Backup-powered by APC 650 VA

 

I had hell lota viruses and bugs since few days(coz of not updating AVG free for 15-20)on XP SP3 based system.

And some weird things happened 2-3 days back;

1.When I used to insert the ethernet cable.(after booting into Windows) the monitor would go blank(with monitor going into Power Saver mode-coz of no input) almost instantly,,while the CPU would be still running(and not restarting)

 

2.then, The Next day

I got A BLUE SCREEN error.

saying that "my ati graphics driver(dnt remember the filename and other details exactly)has some problem or there's a problem with HArdware"

And bottom most line was:

"PHYSICAL MEMORY DUMP ERROR"

 

so,,i thought enuf of this MESS;

and formatted the primary(OS) partition and installed Vista Home Premium succesfully

and the screen showed system specs-4GB RAM,etc..after succesfully booting into Vista!

Didnt install any drivers,after that,switched it off.

 

was happy,,switched it off!!!

 

After restarting half an hour ago,,,there was no input to monitor(blank)

and CPU was continously restarting!

I reconected both ends of DVI cable(display)

AND

tried to take out RAM for cleaning(but the lower white Holder for the Ram was being obstructed by the GPU,,so didnt take out the ram succesfully)

 

and dont know,,,sumhow...

restart loop stopped ..but still system was not booting in(coz I could switch off the CPU by soft press and not 20 seconds long press,,needed when system has logged into Windows)

While the display was still dead allthroughout>>>>

 

And all this on 31st eve's >>>Got pissed off,,,slept at 11.30pm!!NO NEW YEAR WISHES

 

and then nxt day,,

sumhow out of magic,,the system booted into Vista succesfuly,,and display to the monitor was there(Only to find that recognised memory was just 2GB

 

so i called one of my "Hardware FRIEND" to look...

he said that top white notch of 2nd RAM stick is loose...

so he fixed that..

and again the VISCIOUS RESTART LOOP(display sitting DEAD)

and then...

we tried all the permutations,

for single RAM Stick,

and both raM sTICKS also...

BUT THIS RECYCLING LOOPS didnt stop(monitor always sitting with no display)

and then I SAID myself...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

 

P.S.-Iam totally screwed up now,,so would be unscrewing both the GPU,,and the RAMs again and TRY MY LUCK!!!

Does a wireless KB+Mouse induce considerable lag in FPS's? My friend asked me this question yesterday and I wasn`t too sure how to answer it. Anyone here using wireless input for their desktop gaming?

Also while at it, do suggest a moderately priced gaming mouse.

hey guys i've to make a buying decision between two Dell monitors:

1.Dell Ultrasharp 2208WFP(22")

1000:1 dynamic Contrast Ratio,5ms response time(Grey-to-Grey)

2.Dell Ultrasharp 2009WFP(20")

2000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio,5 Millisecond Response Time(Typical not Grey-to GREY),102% Color Gamut

 

Don''t prefer the SP2208WFP(With webcam)as I found gaming on a glossy panel,,bit strainy,..

So,,please which one would provide me more visual appeal,,I think a bettter(DOuble) contrast ratio..and mind boggling 102% color Gamut for 20"incher would give better feel than a bit poorer on contrast ratio,color gamut,,,and maybe responset time 22" incher,,though losing on the extra screen area...and 20"incher is a newer model than the 22"..note 09 and 08 respectively,,at end of model nos!!

Iam planning to buy a new desktop pC for myself,in dis week.

My budget is 70K.which would be a gaming rig_multimedia powerhouse

Following are my considerations:

MOST IMPORTANT CRITERION:

1.Ive a small dorm,,dunno whether to go for 2.1 or 5.1 speaker setup

But wotever I go for,,crisp quality is of utmost importance

(A)With 2.1-wud prefer Altec lansing MX5021 or Logi Z2300 or Klipsch ProMedia

(B)with 5.1-wud prefer Z5500 or klipsch 5.1(if its available in India)+xtreme gamer sound card(sound card wid 5.1 setup only)

2.monitor-Dell US 2009W (15K).period

3.RAM=4GB

4.HDD=250GB WD CAviar

5.Please suggest graphics card(wid bst bang for buck-HD4850 alike),CPU(is quadcore worthy enuf of gaming,or in future)+MObo(dont need much features)_I want best bang for buck from these,,not ultra high performance!

6.mouse-GX518 from logi is fine,as I own Xbox360.

 

please give the price of each component,brand,etc. including cabinet,supply etc.

but near 70k in total.

Your budget is 60K?! For a machine just to surf the net, watch movies and download stuff?

 

To be honest, that's an overkill budget for using it for such stuff. Would be justified for gaming, photoshop and the like as those are way more intensive than the uses you listed.

 

Oh and the 24" Full HD ultrasharp Dell is around 23K. It's for 50K with an HDMI port.

It's not the ultra sharp version,the ultrasharp version is the one with HDMI,

It's the entry wide screen 24" Full HD monitor!

contrast ratios differ:

E248WFP 1000:1(typical)

Ultrasharp 3000:1(dynamic)

{Can somebody expalin the difference between these,,typical n dynamic....)
