Yeah, I don't understand the argument that a game is bad because it has an open world. I get wanting something more focused, but that doesn't mean open world games become bad on their own. GOT was an awesome game, I loved Spider-man as well. Calling HFW crap is hilarious hyperbole. I didn't like BOTW much but I don't go around calling it crap because I can recognize that something is good even through it is not for me.

Broad should have been there as well. Biggest baby of them all. Always whining..

As much as I am enjoying the story, combat and overall feel, I do miss the party system and controlling/changing the party based on the enemy/situation. I love that aspect of a JRPG.

Octapath Traveller 2 is one of the very best games this year. Try that.

Who is weeping here? I was never under the illusion that this was ever going to be turn based. Neither I wanted that. There are enough awesome turn based jrpgs for me to enjoy. You have been the only one taking a shade at turn based combat and people who like it. You have been the one crying right from the start, no one else here. Valid criticsm is not weeping, learn the difference. Only thing that I ever said was that I am worried about the game because of how terrible FF15's combat was. However, the more I read about this game and then when i played, I realized it is no where close to being bad and is actually really fun and I have been enjoying it. Unlike others, I can enjoy different things. I was only commenting on how turn based combat has its own place and hardware limitation isn't the reason why anyone would have that in their game. The kind of tactical gameplay different types of turn based combat systems can provide, can't be replicated in an action (which this esdentially is, not really a jrpg). I can enjoy both and best thing is that the story here (till now) is easily amongst top 5 in all of FF games for me.

Not true. You can choose to not lile turn based combat without taking a shade at it. Real time combat has been there since nes era on games like Zelda, Mana series, etc. FF continued to have proper turn based combat till ps2 era. DQ series still has turn based combat, so does Persona series and both those series have never been better. Heck Yakuza just shifted to turn based combat. As for the sales, this was always expected to sell less than 15 at launch. So, not a surprise. Japanese sales could have been lot better though. Having said that, this is going to have lot better legs than the travesty that was 15. Overall. I expect this to sell as much, if not more.

Whatever the outcome is, hopefully its over soon. Reading about this all the time is pretty annoying now.

70 dollar price is justified because of rising costs. Yes, that is the literal point which these increasing costs show. You have not countered anything. All you are parroting is "Last of Us 2 is profitable" which NO ONE here knows. No One knows how much it earned Sony compared to itd costs, compared to previous gsmes. No one knows any of that. What one can easiley say is it would take 6-8 million units sold just to breakeven at these costs, which is alarming..

Entire point was how game costs have ballooned. That is a fact looking at how these AAA games are costing. Whether Last of Us made a profit, how much profit it made, etc. is irrelevant. Entire point is how unsustainable and risky AAA game development is becoming. For every one successful AAA game, there are 3-4 failures. If all of this is difficult for you to understand, stop replying.

What are you even blabbering about? The earnings report doesn't mention how much profitable each individual game was. It talks about the revenue from entire gaming division which includes revenue from hardware, services, 3rd party games, DLCs, micro transactions, etc. It tells you absolutely nothing about the profitability of any individual game. Few years back Shawn Layden mentioned the cost of developing a Sony AAA game is 100 million, these costs clearly show that the costs have increased. 6-7 million breakup units is a very good estimate and it clearly is not sustainable.

No, I am not saying they are not profitable. What I am saying that we don't know how much/less profitable they are. That is not even the point. Point is that looking at these costs, you will need 6-7 millions copies sold at full 70 USD price to just break even which tells you how risky and unsustainable it is. There is absolutely no way one can look at these costs and then question why the prices for the games increased.

You don't know if they were highly profitable, no one knows that. One can only make estimates. Including marketing costs, total costs of each of these games is like 350-400 million USD, which is incredibly high. This literally shows how expensive AAA gaming today is. Even at 70 USD price, you need to sell around 7 million copies to break even. How the hell is that feasible in any way, shape or form? There is an argument to be made that they need to bring down their costs, but to look at these costs and say that prices didn't need to increase is straight up wrong.

Makes sense. But it also shows how incredible stupid people were for calling Sony anti-competitive for making deals to not release games on Gamepass. It directly impacts their bottom line, of course they will make such deals. Common sense.
