No actually. Everything posted in the last few pages is a direct result of irrelevant jabs at xbox sales figures rooted in zilch. Don't try to deflect please.

All this just from some guy posting about a potential restock.

Chernobyl is less toxic than some people over here.

    Holy mother of irony

Let third party studios handle multiplayer/gaas/live service games. For example warzone runs best on the ps5 at a constant 120 fps.

First party studios should only focus on quality single player experiences.

Doesn't make sense. They should develop what they want to develop.

Fired or chastised for having 26gig game file?!

    I don't think so.

Besides, kraken compression tech is seen on many PS5 titles, having smaller file sizes than XSX.

    https://www.tomshardware.com/news/ps5-60percent-smaller-game-sizes-kraken-compression

    PS5 vs PS4

Control Ultimate Edition – 25.7 GB vs. 43.6 GB

    Hitman 3 – 61.9 GB vs. 77.8 GB

    Subnautica –  3.8 GB vs. 8.3 GB

    Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time – 20.0 GB vs 28.0 GB

    Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 – 23.3G B vs. 31.9 GB

    Marvel’s Avengers – 74.1GB vs. 116.6 GB

Aassassins Creed Valhalla – 41.8 GB vs. 72.5 GB

Watch Dogs Legion – 50.6 GB vs. 61.1 GB

Immortals Fenyx Rising – 22.3 GB vs. 32.9 GB

    Borderlands 3 – 51.1 GB vs. 63.8 GB

    Dirt 5 – 50.9 GB vs. 63.3 GB

Mortal Shell – 4.6 GB vs. 8.6 GB

Also, apparently Marvel's Avengers on Next Gen at launch was 76GB on PS5 and 106GB on XSX.

Yup, this is ideally the best path - provided 2nd hand copy is cheap. If 2nd hand copy itself is 2.5k (or above) - then it makes no sense, because it will either be the same price as a new copy or more expensive.

I bought my copy of GoT for 1.7k few months back. It can easily be obtained for that price (or even slightly less).

You're taking one statement out of context and blowing out of proportion. I was talking about the numbers game in relevance with Sony. MS don't care about losing to Sony, their business model has changed and their focus is different. Their entire ecosystem and 'as a service' model is their main revenue driver. Their acquisitions, future plans are all focused on making Game pass a lucrative option and make it platform agnostic.

Comparing only h/w sales figures between Sony and MS is like comparing apples to oranges - this was the point I was trying to make

Of course, no one is denying that

"MS don't care about losing to Sony"

    Lol, thats wrong.

Like I said, MS have other avenues to bring in subscription. It was clear that they didn't want to go head to head with Sony in terms of pure numbers. They introduced a more accessible console like the XSS to get more subscriptions. They want to get xCloud on Android/iOS devices which will be another avenue for them to increase subscriptions. Their end game is not hardware, its subscriptions.

GPU might not be popular with PC users yet and MS will need to tweak their strategy there. But overall, they are trying to build an ecosystem with Xbox Gamepass which won't have only the consoles as the driving factor.

No where did i say that consoles are the only driving factor. But to say that those sales don't matter is hilariously wrong. Those are by far the biggest sources of revenue for Xbox and would continue to be so for a long time. Streaming would succeed when it would, that is an unknown right now. As i said, their main sub sales is still from consoles, and unless something changes drastically, would continue to be. They don't have to pay 30% cut for each of their own game copy sold, like they have to on steam. They have 30% cut for each third party game sold on their system. They can't charge for online on PCs, they do on consoles. Just because they can't compete with Sony in pure numbers on that front, doesn't mean that it doesn't matter.

Vita first party support was garbage when compared to PSP.

Vita also didn't have the third party exclusives that PSP used to get, games that were PSP only and were only later ported to say PS2/PS3 as a remaster because they got famous etc.

Sony tried supporting it for the first 1-2 years, then forgot about and gave up on it altogether.

Like how Nintendo did with Wii U.

Except Ninty refined the Wii U concept in form of the Switch.

What is Sony doing? porting exclusive games to PC, wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a PS6 after this, and they turn into SEGA type publisher because hardware is not profitable enough

Steamdeck might hit hardware sales of xss due to its portability and ability to play gamepass.

Most use the xss as a gamepass machine anyways.

Look if hardware sales had 0 value to ms, they would have ditched it completely. Just like Sega did. And if Spencer is to be believed, they would keep developing consoles in the future as well.

Ps- maybe after the launch of the deck, they'll explore handhelds. Deck has completely changed the dynamics suddenly. I won't be too surprised if it ends up outselling few home consoles.

Deck is not going to sell even a quarter of what the three consoles would sell in a year. It is not going to br anywhere close to a game changer that you expect it to be

  9. 4 minutes ago, psinide said:

Again, you're missing the point. The hardware sales do not matter to MS. They will very well by in the 2x/3x in favour of Sony. MS want you to get into their ecosystem, and their consoles are only some of the vehicles to enable that, not the only ones. Many of my friends are considering getting the XSS, just to take advantage of GPU, friends who have been Sony only people or 2-3 generations and already own the PS4/5. That itself shows that their business model is working, it might not be as successful yet, but that's the roadmap.

Their hardware sales does matter to them. Its stupid to think they don't. Gamepass hardly sells on pcs, Xbox gold is not required on PCs. They pay 30% cut to steam for every sale made of their games. They don't get third party cut for sales made on pcs. The real revenue from even the subscription services is from console owners. More they sell hardware, higher the revenue from those services.

Has xbox and sony confirmed any sales? Or even these are imaginary figures like everything else?

Sony regularly reveals hardware numbers. MS has stopped doing that. Xbox numbers are always estimates now. By your logic (MS doesnt reveal them so they are imaginary), we all might as well think that PS4 hasn't outsold Xbox One since MS hasn't revealed anything.

This implies Sony is using its negotiating power to take advantage of the buyer. Which is exactly my original statement. Spider-man, GOT:DC and now this all feel a little too slimy to me. It negates the point of backward compatibility if your old copy isn't gonna get you the best version of the game. Ignore MS, enough companies have done it on PC as well.

Lol, what? Point of BC was never to get the best version with your old copy. Only reason why MS is giving free upgrades is because their entire gaming model is now solely based around gamepass. It is pointless for them to charge for upgrades anyway. Not saying Sony can't give away updates for free, they should and they are in some cases. Ultimately, $10 upgrade is fine as long as the changes are worth it. Better than paying $30-60 anyway.

I know, its too much to hope for EA being pro consumer.

And people like me will keep spending full price... Its a game I play almost daily...

Its called running a business. A company would be dumb to not make new entries each year. Stop buying them, they would stop making them. Simple. EA is not in it to do charity

Fifa should just go ful live service and stop charging full game prices annually. I play a decent amount of FUT and usually go for the Ultimate Edition just so I don't have to buy the contracts and get some fodder from the packs. I read somewhere instead of the weekly packs, they will now be offering 4600 Fifa points, which is great. That way at least I can chose to buy the packs when there are good promo packs.

But paying the full price for the game every year definitely hurts... Atleast for me, from FUT perspective, the year on year improvements have never been worth the money... But FUT is my go to game and the most played by far.... So unfortunately, this is pre-order for me...

and that is why they won't stop charging full price each year. If millions of copies are getting sold each year, they would be idiots to not sell it at full price everywhere

Under NDA so nothing I can say here regarding my Employer. Suffice to say, R* is actually never unfair towards fans and their own people. And we don't want you to buy the game again. Rockstar earns more from online features rather than selling copies of the old games. So what the company decides shouldn't be anything unfair.

R* is very serious about public image, gamer's support. They don't wanna jeopardise their relationship with their fans Afaik.

But Sony is being very anticonsumer recently, it's quite visible when the competitor is trying to be more consumer friendly. When 3rd party companies are giving free upgrades for crossgen games.

Even if you turn on those feedback and triggers?

Yep. Those are always on for me. I don't see a reason to turn them off. They add to the overall PS5 experience

I don't see HZD releasing this year either. Most likely Q1 2022

No free upgrade for Judgement (part 1). That is the reason why I ordered the PS5 version
