They are counting sales in first party revenue coz it’s developed & published by them. But they don’t list it amongst their owned IP. But yes it is first party in this arrangement,I agree.

Where please link & I’ll be proven wrong. Maybe coz they are developing it & publishing simultaneously while also releasing on their own platform. But please link it listed among their first party softwares & I’ll agree to that arrangement aswell.

They aren’t really making any money on hardware business. Neither systems sold nor software royalties attached to it. Only through subscription & that too is so heavily discounted with respect to content being offered,that it’s borderline free. Their only sole motive right now is to attract as many subscribers as possible in their lead up to the mainstream cloud streaming service. So potentially in future when all the studios that they have lined up start to make quality serviceable games, they can potentially stop this “freedom drive” & open subscriptions on every possible platform. Ditching hardware business at that point would make complete sense.

How is the situation of PS studios starting to release games alongside on PC even remotely similar to this situation?!? If hypocritically Sony releases some game on PC but not on PS, Obviously that game won’t be categorised as a First Party I think there have been instances where Sony Online entertainment has released games only on PC. Obviously those weren’t First Party label. Talk about the spin….JesusChrist

By this very f**k all logic it would imply that every single game ever created by every single publisher who owns the studio & IP Is making a “First Party game” Listen up guys every single game by Activision,EA,Ubisoft,Bathesda,2K were all “First Party” games Arrey bhai kya jokergiri chalu hai idhar Just not worth continuing…..

Exactly something that doesn’t have anything to do even remotely with “Xbox” is being brought up here in an Xbox related thread again & again just for the sake of pointers & count. I wonder how many traditional console gamers even had a look on this franchise until recently.

It’s not really me who has been traditionally defining “first,second & third party” gaming softwares. It’s always defined in terms of hardware it’s running on & who is providing both hardware & software. By your logic if Nintendo or Sony buy OS from some third party company & then run their IP’s on their platform through non proprietary OS,they wouldn’t be labelled “First Party” anymore. I highly doubt that could be the case coz they themselves use N number of different third party software & hardware to assemble “their” proprietary machines.

Windows is an OS not the system that’s running the software. Also PC is an open platform. You can combine n number of different softwares & hardwares to run things. It’s PC that’s running the OS &!! the Game both made by M$ It’s like saying Orbis/XMB OS of PS is the platform & not PS itself.

Till the time it’s not or it’s not streaming right of of M$ Xcloud servers. It’s not first party Coz you need a non M$ owned device to run it. Mere ownership is different from “First Party Software” Until it’s not your IP,Your money,your platform that’s running it. It’s not first party software. How hard is it to understand.

I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a failure & that too a colossal one. But Halo & Gears held status of GoW,Spider-Man,Uncharted,TLOU hold for Sony today. That is just not the case since the developers changed. & they are not the same market leaders as they used to be. Still quite good games by the looks & opinions.

Demon Souls had the oldest design of corridor lurking. The evolution that Fromsoftware games have taken since then leading up to the full blown open world design of Elden Ring,just doesn’t allow for those sort of visuals. It’s always going to be the Scale vs Visuals debate.

Haven’t played Halo or Gears released on Bone But played all on 360 & they were all killerapps Going only by popular opinion & sales they aren’t even close to their former self. But you get what I mean.

Forza & Halo were always coming they have been coming along with gears for literal infinity. Though it’s good to see Forza keeping its quality of killerapp intact unlike Halo & Gears which are no longer of same value as before. The only & only thing M$ should be given credit of with regards to newly acquired games & IP’s is buying them up like a good(going out of business) retail chain & offering them on their shelves for free. That credit is well deserved & undisputed. But taking credit for their quality & status in the market. Far fetched.

Even the ones which are, aren’t first party exclusives & just first party games. M$ didn’t have sole rights to them as they had given contractual rights to other platforms. Talk about taking credit for something you don’t even have sole rights to But go no further than our world renowned spinner & mixers to try & give to their beloved.

Lol they are getting entangled in their own foolish pointers. Bottom line:- M$ started off too late with their first party exclusive buildup to have any meaningful impact in SX launch window or it’s foreseeable future.
