    Richie Benaud dies aged 84:

     

     


    Former Australian captain Richie Benaud, known as the "voice of cricket" to fans around the world, has died aged 84. Benaud, one of Australia's most influential cricketers, had been fighting skin cancer and died overnight in a Sydney hospice. He was the first player to score 2,000 Test runs and take 200 Test wickets. Australia never lost a series under the leg-spinning allrounder's captaincy.

    The show was 10 minutes delayed on tele. I saw the fireworks again on tele, the one's which I saw from my house balcony a good 10 minutes earlier. That marked the end of the show.

     

    Overall the worst opening ceremony and Saif should never really be chosen as a host again. Kissi kah performance aacha nahi lagaah.

     

    Glad it's done with... now to the Cricket which will surely, surely be more amazing! :punk:

    Still raining here pretty heavily in Kolkata. The Salt Lake Stadium is about a 15 minute drive from where I stay.

     

    EDIT: Rain has lessened but still a steady drizzle. Traffic near my house is crazy this evening!
