I think we need to hand over the vaccination job to the private sector. Just look at the rate by which covid testing increased post privatisation, this can certainly result in price gouging etc etc but if govt. wants to get this done asap, it needs to get private sector in.

Atleast by doing that it can keep a check on them or even set a price limit for the people getting it individually because once these are available on the open market, there is no chance that price gouging won't happen.

I am not a fan of just giving everything to the private sector. That's just a way for the government to absolve itself from its own responsibility.

Considering how much time they had to prepare for a vaccination drive while the vaccines were being researched on and tested, this is a massive failure. In the time the vaccine makers did all that, the govt. couldn't recruit and train enough staff to get this done quickly. If it takes too long to vaccinate everyone, the vaccine would be useless.

A lot more effort goes into organising an election and we do those all the time.

At this point, releasing the vaccine into the open market might be the better option. Fix a price for it, something that is affordable. But only those people who are aware of, can afford, and want the vaccine will get it by themselves. For full coverage, the govt. still has to do most of thr work.

there are over 10 to 15 cr doses ready just with serum institute and there is no rollout for general population.

They are doing this painfully slowly. I saw a vaccine van here a month ago. However they were using only 4 vaccination centres (all govt. hospitals) for the whole of KDMC. That's a stupid idea from the start. Use schools. They are empty and they can handle large numbers of people at a time. With just 500 health workers (vnot that hard to find in a city this big) administering vaccines full time they could complete giving every resident 2 doses within 2 months (only constraint being supply of vaccines).

Should go for a win from here, even if we lose, so be it.

We have everything in our favour here. Should go for a win but no need to be over aggresive like Adelaide 2013-14.

Just keep the scoreboard ticking (that will happen as long as Pant stays there) until the equation is 75-80 required from 15 overs with 6-7 wickets left.

  4. Batsmen need to bail us out this time. Bowlers have worked hard enough for the 3 Tests. Someone needs to make a big hundred.

I remember Ganguly's counter attacking 144 at the Gabba (and some rain) was enough for us to salvage a draw in 2003-04.

Was dreaming of a Gabba win after yesterday's draw but now it's not possible.

I don't think so. Batting pitch plus a positive attitude wins you matches. But ya, we all would have taken a draw when the innings started.

In this case Vihari was injured. So many 1s and 2s were lost to this. If runners were allowed, situation might have been different.

Australia realised the chase was not possible and brought their field close. With a field with such little gaps, taking a single is as hard as getting boundaries. Pujara might still have been able to keep it alive but he got out with more than half the day left. After that it was all about defending.

In the end we fell 73 runs short. I don't see how we would have covered those many runs.

I kid you not bro, I watched that in a shady bar in Andheri, Mumbai with friends.

Nothing better than a shady bar with cricket.

What a great effort by Vihari and Ashwin to save this match. Aussie bowlers were just physically and mentally tired in the end.

Now on to the Gabba, Australia's favourite venue.

  7. Tough ask. No one else after this. This is the last partnership on which we can pin our hopes.  If they both bat till drinks, maybe we have a chance.

Jadeja is injured as well and asking him to bat out 1-2 hours is too much.

It wasn't even wickets of Pant or later Pujara that killed the chase here, it was Vihari's unfortunate injury. Singles became dots and 2s and 3s became singles.
