What you bought this week - 2021 edition
roun90 replied to HundredProofSam's topic in General Chatter
Rptech? How long did you have to wait? Anyway congratz!! With this, you are set for PC gaming for this gen (and maybe even next gen)!! -
Poor pricing is the only thing that is objectively confirmed though. Terrible Writing, Bland Characters, Poor Pacing - It's far too early to even tell when we've not even seen how the tutorial looks like yet.
-
Is there a point to the walking segment of Matrix Awakens (after the shooting section), or is it just "free roam till you're bored with nothing to do"? Game is pretty - yes. I can easily see them dropping resolution a bit to introduce unlocked 60 fps here though. Don't think it will be that much of a burden. UE 5 is great. But we are yet to see what it's really capable of. I want to see how 50+ hour RPGs will look and play like in UE5 before passing judgements.

Andromeda = Utter flop ME Legendary Edition = Full price game for a resolution upgrade + dlcs which were over-priced the first time around (They were not even able to include all DLCs) Anthem = Utter flop Dragon Age 4 = Nowhere to be seen, despite being announced in 2018; devs are not even sure how to salvage the game from it's original live service roots. I won't be surprised if the game is completely cancelled or comes out as a broken, hollow shell of itself - just to push something out. It's time to face the facts. The original Bioware is dead. Anything that comes from this will just be a try-hard attempt and plea to EA "Please don't disband us; we can still make games". There are new kings of the CRPG Genre, who have already claimed the throne. Larian , Obsidian and THQ Nordic are the kings, and Owlcat Games is also there on the wings. There's no point in being sad about this. Frankly, it might be better if EA sells off the franchise or outsourcing development to MS or Larian - they have a very good chance to make a far better game than Bioware at this point IMO. EA can have some exclusive marketing deals with them in return for a good game.

It is - especially when you consider game was already given free as part of PS+. This time it's on Sony I think. This is what they always do. Extract the full value of the game on console, and then sell for full price for the PC only guys later. It's still a "brand new" game since it's never come on PC, that's their justification. They did the same for Horizon, Days Gone and now for this. It's an excellent game though. Something not to be missed. If you can, play it on PS. If not possible, then wait for sale. It should be discounted pretty quickly I guess.

It's combat is really great. In some cases, better than Tales of Arise even. You are juggling and chaining seamlessly so many different and unique powers that it's really fun. This is something that you will not get from the anime. Not to mention the animations in the anime are horrible. It takes away from what is a really great story. If you've not yet started Scarlet Nexus, I urge you to play it. Did you at least get the digital edition of ToA btw? It was on sale in steam until just a couple of days ago. Along with regional pricing - it went quite cheap.
-
Did you play RnC? The Rift is no mere "gimmick" - it's an actual amazing mechanic. It makes combat very fast paced and is just mind-blowing. If they ever incorporated such mechanics in other shooters - it will be genre-defining. It will change how such games are played. They are only not able to do it yet because all devs are constrained by the HDDs of the last gen systems. I agree Psychonauts 2 should be nominated. But it feels like you are dismissing RnC: Rift Apart without even playing it. It's one of the best games of this year, objectively. Just as Forza, AoE4, Psy 2 are all excellent, so is RnC. Don't dismiss it so easily.

Yup, downloadable and playable right now on PS5 and XSX/XSS. It's a free, short tech demo. If you want to get a feel of what UE5 games would be like - you can download it now and play.

Shin Megami Tensei is no Persona though. IMO it's a more acquired taste, since the entire game is a 40-50 hour long dungeon crawler, with little to no story. Purists love it, but AFAIK most of the people are not that interested in it. It's why Persona is so big, and SMT is so niche - despite Persona literally being one of SMT's spin-offs (Technically, since both Persona and SMT are spin offs of the original Megami Tensei). MH:Rise I'm not sure. DOn't know how it compares with MH:World, and if they upgraded enough to be far better than MH: World Iceborne. Scarlet Nexus was the RPG to beat this year IMO.

Imagine beating out Scarlet Nexus - which was heralded as one of the greatest RPG games of the year lol. Not that they mind I think - since both are theirs. Friendly competition between internal teams.

PlayStation vs Xbox vs Nintendo thread
roun90 replied to kmkaks's topic in News, Rumours and Discussions
Definitely agree!! The study is conducted by a casino. Smart = Most Real-time Casino users (PC esp. for CPU and GPU mining + real time lottery) > Most Potential Users (More people willing to gamble for Playstation) > Less Potential Users (Less people willing to gamble for Xbox) > Absolute Idiots who don't use Casinos (Nintendo - No one gambles for a Switch/3DS) -
This is the re-award show time right? So the main show will be from 1:30 am GMT/7 am IST? (That's what I remember from previous awards)?

That is sad. Current Mat has been phenomenal (all actors have been really). Wonder why he dropped out? It was such a great opportunity for a new actor to make it big. Hopefully, it's not because he was forced out so Amazon could hire some big name in his place.
-
Yup, complete filler episode. Don't know why they need such episodes when the season itself is so short. If it was at least a 12/24 episode season, they could go ahead with fillers all they want. Useless as of now. Far too many changes tbqh. Is he 2nd season even confirmed yet? If not, at the rate they are going - Show is very entertaining, because the actors are good. They actually made the characters far more likable than their book counter-parts. But they are veering off far too much into their own original content to my liking. Hope they don't mess up.

Forget GPUs, CPUs and consoles. The first thing that tax has to be reduced on (permanently) is petrol/diesel/fuel. Your CPUs/GPUs might affect one industry that may or may not come in the future. I say may/may not - because there is still a very large cultural stigma on video games. Even if govt. allows it, a lot of parents and old people (along with the huge non-gamer population of the current gen), will actively stop any development of gaming or any other such industry in India. But what does fuel affect - everything. Once logistics are affected, every damn thing has to get more expensive, whether you like it or not. Essential/Non-Essential - all of that is immaterial. Anything you buy will always be cost of good + transport (which includes tax of transport). Govt. seriously has to get it's priorities right. Tax luxuries. But fuel is the very basis of everything. Don't classify that as a luxury. No govt. has ever yet classified fuel as essential till now though, which is sad. All govts. are still in the pre-independence mentality that all cars/trucks etc. are luxuries and only bullock carts are the true means of transport.

I think this is the one you are referring to They are not graphical power-houses, but I'm quite excited for them tbqh. They are from the original creators of Suikoden - which is a JRPG classic, and was a very ambitious game. If you don't know about Suikoden - it was a series with an amazing full scale story, and you could recruit 100+ characters. Each of the characters had their own story, so they were not use and throw. Not all of the characters just joined your party. You could construct your own city, and build various facilities there (based on who you recruited), participate in actual wars to defend your city etc. This was in addition to the main story that you ran with your MC and his/her companions. They did all of that on the PS1, way back in 1998. I'm excited to see what they do with the new technology available today. The game is not an MS exclusive though. It's there for all platforms, and it's quite a ways off (2022 and 2023). I expect we will also get regional prices for this on Steam.

Why does this not surprise me? If HBO had hired a decent writer after GRRM left and cracked the whip on D&D to at least get some proper seasons and a proper ending (both non-rushed) - there would have been some promise left in GoT. As it is - the last 2 seasons have poisoned the entire GoT well. I don't think anyone is hyped for GoT prequels, despite those being written by GRRM himself. Not to mention, prequels, by definition will always be marred by the actual show's ending, since that happens in the future. It's no surprise D&D are not in any show these days. They rushed GoT to jump on Star Wars, and even Disney dumped them after seeing the quality of the last 2 seasons.

goat Official Nintendo Switch Thread

What I do is purchase eshop codes from 3rd party sites like amazon or playasia (Digital codes with instant delivery), then use those codes to make purchases on the Switch Eshop. Just make sure that the code matches the region (Like say $20 US Eshop code for a US Eshop account and not an EU one). -
No!! IMO Todd works well if he has someone above him to crack the whip. If he's the overall boss, you will start seeing 1 game per decade again. And before you say Dishonored, Wolf and all - they were their own teams under Zenimax (and now under MS). Todd was in charge of only BGS AFAIK.
