Yeah, if it is a family owned business like Trump, then they would stay on as they own most of the shares.
But this is different, this is publicly owned. By logic, Shareholders and BOD should have forced him out. The history of CEOs who weather out this kind of storm must be rare.
From what I heard - most of the Board are his buddies, and he and his buddies have a decent enough amount of "shares" to influence opinion. Of course, they are not the largest shareholders - but the actual biggest shareholders are investment companies - those who manage mutual funds etc. on behalf of small time investors. I don't think they are interested in "running" the business. Rather, they will just sell their stock and re-invest in some other firms. Activision share prices have been going down, so I think they are selling anyway.
These guys most likely live in their own la-la-land. As I said elsewhere, the best way to change the company is for people to stop buying Activision games altogether (including CoD), so they start having to dip into their reserves or face being unable to repay their loans, or for all platform owners to black-list them and not allow for Activision releases in their systems. Both of which, I don't see ever happening.

Frankly, this is not going to make much difference. The Activision Directors have already come out in support of Bobby Kotick, and he's already stated he's not going to resign. If the companies really want to force Activision's hand -
1) All platforms will have to blacklist Activision. This includes PS, Xbox, Nintendo and PC platforms. CoD is insanely popular, so only 1 cannot boycott (That will be suicide to the platform).
2) Hope that they have no agreements in place with Activision, that can land them in law-suits.
3) Customers should stop buying Activision games. This has even less chance than the above 2 happening.
For now it's just PR. It's flavor of the month to talk against Activision, get good PR, trust Activision to supress all further news from leaking out - and they know people will forget all about it in a couple of weeks.

@Root Create a new PSN India Account. You should be able to buy from there. Set your PS4/PS5 console as the Primary Console ( Settings>Account Management>Activate as Your Primary Playstation 4). You should be able to play on all PSN accounts even offline.

You guys already know about the S8x Scandal that raged though Activision-Blizzard (Mainly Blizzard) some months ago. Well, further news has come in - this time implicating Activision, all the way to the top-
1) CEO Bobby Kotick knew all about the sexual harassment cases in the company for years, but he hid it from the Shareholders/Board of Directors
From Source:
Call of Duty gamemaker Activision Blizzard CEO knew of harassment complaints long before workplace turmoil erupted at the video game giant, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. Activision chief Bobby Kotick has for years been looped into reports of abuses that included an allegation of rape, but did not share all that he knew with the board of directors, according to the report.
A spokesperson responding to an AFP inquiry said the Journal story presented a "misleading" view of the company and its chief executive. "Instances of sexual misconduct that were brought to his attention were acted upon," the spokesperson told AFP.
2) Jen ONeal, the lady who was appointed co-head of Blizzard after J Allen Brack's departure (Due to the sexual harrassment), resigned due to being paid less than her male co-worker (with whom she shared position as head of Blizzard)
3) Activision-Blizzard workers are staging a walk-out, demanding Bobby Kotick's resignation
From Source:
Activision Blizzard Inc. employees said they will walk out Tuesday and press Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick to step down, following a report that he was aware for years of sexual misconduct claims at one of the biggest U.S. video game publishers and that he has been accused of mistreatment by several women.
“We will not be silenced until Bobby Kotick has been replaced as CEO, and continue to hold our original demand for Third-Party review by an employee-chosen source,” the ABK Workers Alliance said in a tweet.
The Wall Street Journal published a story Tuesday detailing allegations of rape at one of Activision’s studios and said Kotick had been informed of the alleged incidents, which occurred in 2016 and 2017, as well as an out-of-court settlement, and failed to report them to the board. The newspaper cites interviews, company emails, regulatory requests and other internal documents that informed its reporting that Kotick knew about employee misconduct in many parts of the company. It reports on settlements, including in cases where Kotick himself is accused of mistreatment.

Welp! This drama is keeping on taking new turns. How can a company get into such a mess? What kind of special stupidity is required to pay the female head you appointed less for the same work - that too while in the middle of a sexual harassment case lol.

To be fair, Halo Infinite was delayed by a year so they probably couldn't help it this time. But you're right, MS needs to do a more staggered launch for it's games. I think it's going to happen anyways going forward.
It's kind of irritating tbqh. I've not yet finished Age of Empires 4 campaign, but had to jump on Forza 5. Hardly has Forza 5 launched, they again splintered the community with Halo Infinite.
Would it have really killed them to say - release Age of Empires 4 in April, Forza 5 in August and Halo Infinite in Oct-December window? It would have led to far more satisfaction. For console war fans, it would have even countered PS5, because all those are genuinely good games. But now, it feels like someone eating a 3 course meal from 3 different restaurants within a gap of 1 hour each.

MS needs to slow down here.
I haven't even started FH5 properly. It Takes Two and Shadow of the Tomb Raider are taking all my time.
Yet to deep dive in Back 4 Blood too. Am downloading/deleting games without playing them.
This is really par for course for MS. They release nothing the entire year, and then dump their entire planned release in between October-December. I personally prefer a little more staggered release through-out the year. Easier time to play and savor every game, rather than rushing here and there.

Search IVG in-game.
Pause menu -> online tab -> clubs
Thanks man. Sent Request Invitation
Also got some of my first Forza Edition Cars (All from Auctions, not skills sadly). Are these good prices?
1) The Maserati Gran Turismo S Forza 2010 Edition (285kCredits)
2) The Mercedes Benz Tankpool 24 Racing Forza Edition 2015 Truck (Around 300k Credits)
3) Pagani Huayra BC Forza Edition 2016 (361k Credits)
Also, is it just me or does Photo Mode store really low quality images? I'm able to play in Ultra/Extreme, and the cars look far better in-game than here.

Only 1. 2 is black marketing. Way to support this travesty. Tch tch.
Did you or anyone here ever buy a console for brothers/sisters/cousins/any type of relatives at all? What about people here who bought multiple units to sell it at MRP right here (I know there are such people here. They posted about it when stocks dropped)
Then they will also come under your definition of "Black Marketing"

Yes. You. Can. They should sell only 1 unit per customer. Anything more than one unit per household is against the laws of nature. How can you even support this inhuman behaviour is beyond me
When did I say a lot of units to 1 customer? I said "Keeping 1-2 units for their regular customers". There can be more than 1 regular customer per shop, and they are also not necessarily related to each other.
Far better than Amazon/Chroma etc al. where botting itself will give to scalpers. or even "First Come First Serve" where scalpers will bring all their extended relations.

Also anyone calling himself a good human being/citizen should support these retailers as they are risking it all going against Sony's encouragement and promotion of black marketing.
Don't think Sony will do anything to them. Sony also depends on these guys to get rid of the old Demon's Souls/Miles Morales/Returnal etc. stocks. Many times these 3rd parties are also sellers on Amazon for these software.
But yup, building connections is not bad. You can't call it "Black Marketing" when these guys are selling 1-2 units to regular customers, who will also buy software later down the line - rather than random scalpers.

Square Enix learned all of their mistakes from their Avengers game, listened to the community, researched intensely and made this beautiful single player game.
The story of SE. Always mess up very badly first. When the heat gets bad - then, and only then - listen to the community, research properly, make changes and bask in the glory. They did the same stuff for Final Fantasy XIV. It's currently the most profitable game for SE.

Love Gamepass. Amazing that they gave this game at launch for free. This game is absolutely stunningly beautiful. I'm new to racing games in general, so I'm mainly playing on Tourist Difficulty. But it's really fun. Game is also beautifully optimized (Unlike most games these days). Easy to maintain Ultra Settings 60 fps locked @1440p (I'm playing on PC, late because it just got repaired).
I have to give it to MS. They did a brilliant job here. Take a bow MS. You deserve it. Especially when you gave both this and Age of Empires 4. Both amazing games that deserve 90+ meta in their own right.

Anyone here planning to play Shin Megami Tensei 5? It's got great reviews, and is sitting at 86 Meta currently. Also Pokemon Shining Diamond/Brilliant Pearl next week. It's going to be a massive month for the Switch.

Ya agreed, India doesn't deserve to be in semis. Sub-par performances vs the only two good sides in the group.
Worse when you realize - had India been in Group A (Replacing Bangladesh) - they would be dead last or 2nd last. There would be no Pity High NRR. They would already be out. What I thought would happen is happening. They lost against the 2 better teams (Only good teams in the entire group) - so Kohli and Co. are bullying the weak and temporary teams so they can come back and brag that they tried (Along with justifying their high match fees). It's also really bad when India got the most breaks and rest between the matches.

You can't fix a match by paying someone to win
Afghanistan can hope to win vs NZ with a decent margin and then pray for India to choke. They will still have a chance, just like we had. And they will want to prove the world and themselves that they can defeat big teams too. There is enough incentive already.
They will have to hope India chokes against Namibia? Nah, they know the score. Believe me, there is no incentive. As far as Match Fixing, I did not say it properly. You're right. A decent incentive would be for BCCI to give Afg bonus for winning. A true match fixing would be BCCI giving NZ money for losing. But whatever happens, if India goes in semis - they are going in via pity points and baksheesh given by Afghanistan. India doesn't deserve to be in semis in this particular tournament.

Afghanistan beating NZ today?
Highly doubt it. NZ is a far better team. But there is a far more important question -
What will Afghanistan even get out of today's match?
1) If they lose - They are out of the tournament via Points
2) If they win - They are out of the tournament via NRR
3) Even if they win with a very high margin to improve their NRR - India still has a match with Namibia which will again improve their NRR. So Afghanistan is still out
Frankly, the incentive itself is not there. They can sleep through the game, lose and come home comfortably - rather than trying too hard. No one will blame them. They did their part and played well throughout the tournament. The only incentive they *might* have to try is if BCCI gives them $$$$ to win the game. But that will come under Match-Fixing.

Is RPTech safe? Any of you who brought GPUs from there, did you guys register there first before sending enquiry? How long do they generally take to reply? Also, in the current FE's is separate cooling necessary or is NVidia's stock cooling enough?
I'm asking this because recently all my games are crashing after 10-15 mins of use (My current GPU is 1080ti). I suspect it's GPU problem. I would prefer not to replace the GPU. Is there any way to get it repaired (In/Near Mumbai).
Thanks for the help guys.

Gamers advocating for exclusivity.. that’s a new?
Haven't been keeping up much with this thread. But AFAIK a lot of gamers have always been advocating for exclusivity. This gen it's pretty weak, but during the PS3/360 Gen it was more like a horse race betting. Every new "Exclusive" captured or developed would lead to loud cheers from the supporter of that console and trolling+groans from the other console supporters. Bonus points if the exclusive captured was an established major IP. Same for if an established exclusive IP went multi-platform.

I would not be surprised if this is cancelled altogether. AFAIK Blizzard is still in huge trouble, and they are bleeding badly. Heck, Blizzard just put out Patch 9.1.5 in WoW - which is a very minor patch adding some minor cosmetics, bringing back some old stuff for nostalgia and removing all "Problematic References" in the game. This is after a 5 month wait since the last patch (9.1) released. And WoW is Blizz's bread and butter. If they can't get this one, I doubt they can focus on development of other games.

1. The ammo system
The idea behind it is that different kinds of enemies are weak to different ammo types. But you quickly realize that some ammo types like soft-target and incendiary rounds just don't do a lot of damage. And when you have only 4 weapon slots and you can't even f**king change ammo type on the fly (it can only be done on workbenches), you resort to mostly just using the armor-piercing rounds because they're the most versatile. The whole system feels very tacked on and is something that you start to ignore very soon.
This is actually the most pointless addition. Just get a Sniper Rifle, slot it with anti-armor mods - and you can clear out everyone regardless of what "Ammo Type" they are weak to.
My loadout is this -
1) Sniper Rifle (Anti-Armor) - Easy clear of everything (This gets used 99% of the time)
2) Machine Gun (Soft-Shell) - just in case something gets close
3) Rocket Launcher - To destroy Helicopters/Anti-Air Guns and other large installations
I don't think I needed anything beyond this. Heck, I was even able to clear out Lvl 9 Outposts at Lvl 4/5, using the sniper guns and machete kills.
19 hours ago, STICK3Rboy said:2. Respawning enemies
Enemies respawn as soon as you move like 20m away from them. All you have to do is look somewhere else and they respawn
It can even get as bad as this sometimes:
It doesn't happen in outposts and checkpoints that you can actually capture though.
This seems to be a bug. At least I've not encountered it yet (On PC)
19 hours ago, STICK3Rboy said:3. The gear system
The skill-tree has been entirely scrapped and skills are now tied to clothing items which can be bought from stores or unlocked from chests strewn around in the wild. While this does give me some incentive to go around exploring, it also feels restrictive because I can't always equip all the skills that I'd like to be playing with.
And because the game doesn't even have a loadout system, sometimes I just can't be arsed to fiddle around in the menus to equip particular gear items.
I kind of like the "No Skill Tree" systems. This also means you don't actually need to level up that much to get any essential skills. It's a fun change since all games have skill trees these days.
Anyways that's just my opinion

This team doesn't deserve to even go in the 2nd round tbqh. No point supporting them (and I don't even feel like it). Going into 2nd round via the Afg-Namibia-Scotland quota and escaping responsibility by saying "We went to 2nd round" is something that should not happen. This should serve as a wake up call to the sponsors and fans. Get the fans angry enough to make sponsors scrub out the players' advertisement contract + tank their IPL auction value, and the team will come in line properly.
-
@NitroNeo It's actually fine to get a PS5. Yes, storage is less. But games are also far more optimized. So games that would be 100 GB on the PS4 gen (or even on the XSX) are only around 30 GB on the PS5. It's only the PS4 BC games that you have to worry about (Those that are not optimized for the PS5 - like say Last of Us 2), and I don't think you will keep a lot of those installed on the SSD at any one time (Just put those on an external HDD, they don't get too many benefits like less load times even if you put it on Internal SSD).
in the very near future, you can just get a 3rd party SSD that is compatible with PS5 specs (If your library reaches that big). It should also be far cheaper to get the 3rd party SSD rather than waiting for a new PS5 SKU (If it ever comes that is).

It's a great game. But I do have some problems with this title -
1) Trebuchets are stupid OP. In previous Age of Empires games, trbuchets and other siege weapons can be destroyed pretty easily if you are able to bring your units close to it. Other cavalry/infantry/archers should protect the catapults/trebuchets. Here, they have stupid health and endurance. Make 7-8 trebuchets, and add in a little cavalry+infantry mix and they will kill even an army of elephants+archers+infantry. Their attack is also very fast. In seconds, these trebuchets will destroy your full health forts.
I get that the devs are proud of Trebuchets because of the documentary they did - but game breaking they should not be.
2) It takes a very long time to research. Age of Mythology, I felt got the mix perfectly right. Here, research feels like a mobile game - with even early ones even taking 6 minutes IRL to finish. This makes the game way too slow, especially for a person like me who loves to upgrade units.
3) The drag select is irritating. In the previous titles, you could set it such that if you box-select (Drag Mouse), the box will ignore villagers. Here, the option is there. But if you select it - you cannot box select villagers at all, even if they are alone. This was not the case previously, and is annoying.
Other than that, this game is standard AoE fare. Props to MS for putting this on GP though. 8 months of GP for 500 Rs is an amazing deal for this title.
On 10/30/2021 at 9:12 AM, triggr happy ss said:Don't know how it will work, or even whether it will be fun on consoles. Micro-managing is the name of the game here, and Mouse helps it tremendously, to the point it's compulsory. I expect janky controller controls (they cannot skip controller support on consoles), and if they ever do cross-platform MP, I expect PC players to demolish console players, unless they automate most of the stuff in the game.
