goat Official Nintendo Switch Thread
roun90 replied to Big Boss's topic in News, Rumours and Discussions
If you are going for a Switch - go for the normal one, not the lite. Switch on TV is actually very fun, and it's a miracle how they managed to make it. Games look better and perform better on TV as well. -
I think it was mainly to shut people up. If you remember, people were abusing Sony India at the time. They would have known what price they were charging before-hand. So by releasing that info, they might have hoped people will keep quiet and wait some time. As for the date, I'm not sure. Sony India is responsible. But, now that I think about it - what if it truly was not in their hands? They might for example, have some difficulty with govt (delay due to trademark was already there) or what if Sony Global themselves decided not to allocate units for now? Sony India might not have been able to do anything. Or Sony India could also be a**h**** who are delaying purposely. Either way, no way to know for now.

Lol Epic had no way of knowing the status of the console market 8 years down the line. PS3 was delayed by at least 1 year, and was more expensive. Original plan of Gears was for it to be multi-plat. But Epic could not wait 1 extra year with 0 income while still paying salaries. So they released on 360. It became a massive success. MS offered very generous money and terms to acquire it. So Epic sold it. As a company, it was a good decision. Playstation lost a ton because of their delay by 1 year. It took a lot of efforts, including creating multiple new 90+ meta IPs to get it back. Hence, from then on - you can see that all consoles try to ensure that they release as close to competition as possible. No more 1 year delays (Except in India)

The guy is even giving it at the price which Sony produces the console - even lesser than the official price of USA. Giving a custom unit produced in a top secret factory in good old Surat - with a 2 TB SKU made only for India. Plus a very trustworthy long time senior member of 1 day. Great post

This is just my opinion after hearing Sam saying Sony India is fully responsible here: State of Playstation in India: Sony India will be learning some really hard lessons the more they delay and keep quiet. Most of the console sales here is FIFA Players. Once they get bored of cross-gen FIFA and other MP Games on old systems, they will start moving to whatever is available. So if it's Xbox - they will get Xbox. And if 1 person gets Xbox, others will as well (Friends are all there). Of the remaining SP Players and all, those who can get from grey market or abroad - will get from abroad. This will not be reflected in Sony India sales, but sales of originating country (EU/US/Asia etc.) Those who can't will move onto PC and Xbox as well. Most people will buy only 1 console, so even after PS5 launches (Late), it will mostly be ignored (for MP players replacements will also be Xbox/PC as community is established there). Sony India may have a free hand, but they will have to report to SCE/J (The main company) at some point. If sales are compared and drastic reduction is noticed from time of PS4, they will have some tough questions to answer. India Consoles may not sell as much as US, but it sells enough (esp. including MP Players), that handing over the market to competition freely will be noticed. At that point, chances are control will be taken from Sony India and given to a branch abroad or 3rd party again, who might give better results. For me personally: I mainly am a fan of a very specific set of games (all SP) and mainly Japanese ones. I'll get a PS down the line, either officially or from abroad/grey market - doesn't really matter (unless there is wide-spread RRoD type situation). If those specific games start appearing on other platforms as well - getting a PS will just be a complete non-priority gaming purchase for me (will get it if mood strikes type). True, games like God of War etc. will be missed, but that is just a bonus for me anyway. Already I got both AC and Yakuza on current gen, and both are performing well. My hype for PS5 is frankly reducing to the point I can get by on launch day. Frankly, this was the only time I would have brought on launch day (all other purchases were months after launch, but I got caught up on the hysteria this time) Please Note: This is just my opinion.

Most probably - yes. The thing about those countries, especially Phillipines - They have a very large expat population of Westerners, who settle there for retirement or because everything is super-cleap compared to the West. These people will buy consoles there. Even Thailand is a far bigger market than India, because it's filled not just with Thais, but also other Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans etc.), Indians and other SE Asians + Westerners. So despite these countries technically being poorer than India, they still are a bigger market. Not sure of Malaysia though. They used to be an extension of Singapore. But last I heard, they are going more and more into fundamentalist mind-set (which might prohibit gaming). Also @HundredProofSam you might know this since you are in the pulse of the market. I heard that there is no Sony India (w.r.t. Playstation). Sony ME handles all the Playstation decisions here (Including allocation of units). The proper Sony India is only concerned with TVs here (Hence their ready availability of all models, including highly premier ones on Global Launch, heck sometimes even before Global Launch). Is this true? If it is, it might explain why we are not hearing anything. Sony India is really in no place to comment, they themselves might not know - since decision is not in their hands (Sony ME will only allocate after their market is satisfied, which will not be for at least some time now). The "Playstation Division" here might be nothing more than the 2 poor Digital Maketing (Twitter/FB Posting) Guys, who are receiving all the expletives and gaalis now, plus some accountants maintaining records - all with 0 decision making power.

For just those 2, you can easily get them. Crane Game - just save scum, if you have even 1 free slot. Save and play - if you get prize, fine - trophy will pop up. If not, just reload. For Special menu, I think you needed 4 free slots. Just order the most expensive stuff 4 times and you will get the trophy the 5th time you visit (Of course save before 5th time visit, so after trophy pops up - you can reload, if you're not interested in spending time in the maid cafe) Both easy trophies, and if you have free day or night slots, just get it done or go back to a previous save where there are free slots. No need for a fresh Play-through or New Game+ Play-through for these 2 trophies.
-
Which version are you playing - Persona 5 Base or Persona 5 Royal? Also what trophies are you missing?
-
What processor are you using? Ubisoft has history of putting a lot of the load on the CPU instead of GPU. The guy is using i7 7700K which is a fast CPU. If your CPU is crap or mid-range, you will get poor frames, even if you are using a powerful GPU.

Game unlocked!! Finally, feels good to be playing a Yakuza game again. Till what I've played, the game is really fun. Ichiban is no Kiryu, and the game really reflects that (For one - forget fear (Like Kiryu) no one respects poor Ichiban at all), but I like him. He's a fun, silly and goofy guy (Unlike Stone-like Kiryu or absolute mad-man Majima). You also get choices in how you respond (all fully voice acted, which is great in Japanese - since that's what I played in), and that affects both how you play Ichiban, and how he develops throughout the course of the game. I've only played the beginning till now, so can only speak for the beginning combat. The combat is actually fun. It's not fully turn based, but rather a turn based and action hybrid (In a different way than FF7 Remake). For example, while you might select attack, attack name etc. from a menu - you still need to do stuff like parry, perfect dodge etc. on a real-time basis, as and when the enemy is attacking. Even with attack, if you're using a skill/combo - you need to enter the combo in real-time like an action game. It's only mainly items, normal attack etc. that's used on "turn-based" terms. Frankly, the change is fun, and something sorely needed. I was so used to previous Yakuza combat, that my finger was automatically pressing the square (Weak Attack in all previous Yakuza games) key in the first encounter, before I realized that it was doing nothing and I had to select Persona style by pressing X. Rest everything feels like Yakuza. Chases are back. New City feels great. The PS4 version port is also absolutely great. It's very smooth and till where I've played, I've encountered little to no loading except a very small pause in 1-2 transition to cutscenes. Frankly, if all games are going to have port of this quality on PS4, then next gen can easily wait. We won't miss much at all. Overall, a great Yakuza game and had an absolute blast playing it!!

Don't think so. Hotstar is the official Disney+ here (They even changed their name to reflect that). Anyway $7/month is far too expensive when we get it for $4/month or $20 per annum for (I think) complete Disney+ content + almost all HBO content (They have added 4k and HDR and I think even Dolby Vision)
-
Great I think it will unlock for me in 2 hours.

Game unlocked already? Which store?

Looks like I got you beat in Persona Fan-ism

Yaay!! MS and Sony on the exact same boat! Not willing to introduce next gen consoles here at all. Well at least MS had the decency to pretend by giving 100 units for pre-order in the entire country, just to keep up appearances. Seriously, don't go for Series S though. Won't comment on whether it will hold back gaming or not, but high chances of performance issues as the gen goes on. I experienced this on the base PS4 with AC: Odyssey. In forts, if you attract too many units, frames will tank to single digits on base PS4. Expect same will happen on base Series S as more demanding, exclusively next gen games come out some 2-3 years down the line.
-
Is that including the FIFA only crowd? If most of that "chunk" comes from that category (People who only buy consoles to play FIFA), then I can definitely see Sony launching consoles late here, because FIFA games are going to be on current PS4 gen for at least another 5 years I think.
-
Pre-load started (and done for me) on PS4. Size is 47.088 GB (Around 1.5 GB larger than AC:Valhalla). Playable in 1 day and 11 hrs appx. (i.e. by tomorrow midnight in India)
-
Pre-load started in PS4. Size is 45.439 GB. Playable in 1 day 11 hours or so (i.e. by tomorrow midnight in India). Of course, you also get PS5 version and PS4 version as a package, but cannot say anything about the PS5 version due to the very small and minor fact that we don't know when we will get the console here.

There is a precedent from Sony though. And the poor machine died because of it. The device was absolutely excellent otherwise. A true next gen machine of the time - far ahead of it's competitor. It's name literally meant "life" and the opposite happened to it. In case you didn't catch on, I'm talking about - Playstation Vita.

Pulse has option for both - wired and wireless. It has a 3.5 mm jack which you can connect to controller if you want (PS4/PS5). It also has the wireless option, just like Playstation Gold (Put USB on console and use wirelessly). Wired mode reduces some sound/function according to IGN. The headset also has 2 mics (one near the top of the left can, the other near your mouth). Voice pick up and delivery is very clear. Though the headset does pick up some minimal ambient noise as well (Sound is not fully 100% cancelled, some leak through). Though if you have the game audio on, it will pretty much cancel all ambient noise and just pick up the clear chat. You can mute mic if you want (dedicated button for that). You also have a separate button to balance game audio and chat audio, A Microphone monitoring switch and the normal volume buttons (all separate). The set has a USB-C port for charging. All according to the IGN Review video.

Some points made in the video: - Sound fills up the cans to create an incredible sense of space - Full bodied Highs, Mids and Lows + an incredible bass tones (Without the bass being overpowering) - Tempest is an amazing tech, going beyond what's usually given in virtual 7.1 surround sound headsets. In Miles Morales, standing in Times Square, you can here cars and people coming and going from every angle and distance. Describing it as "Immersive" sells it short. In Astro's Playroom, you can hear what the other bots are doing and can track their position by sound alone. - Sounds excellent on PS4 and PC. In Opening of God of War, sound came through clean and clear. But coming from Tempest audio of PS5, you can feel the difference in PS4 games (It was easier to detect audio was coming from a limited no of directions. - According to Sony, Headset should last 12 hours on a single charge. According to IGN's usage, they found it lasted between 9-10 hours on a single charge as they played across 2 days.

There is tons of demand. More so than a usual console gen - because all people are sitting at home, many with work-from-home and having nothing else to do but gaming, TV Shows and buying new tech. Whatever the machine, it's selling out. Plus all the production hassles during Covid which limits supply. Yes, if India is a low priority (which it is), it can easily see a long delay. They said 19th Nov "Worldwide Release", but frankly, I doubt Sony considers India a part of World-wide, which is sad. People say India is Playstation Country, but briefly, for some years, they did lose out to Xbox 360 in India. If there is delay and people just keep seeing next gen games with no consoles except Xbox here- there is a chance they will lose India to MS again.
-
This seems possible. Chances of delays more than January too. I think India has no allocated units at all. Whatever India would have got is being re-routed to Middle-East/Dubai etc. Since demand is so high now, they will cater to that market first. After the 2nd and 3rd waves of purchases (Actual purchases, not pre-orders) are done, and demand starts reducing - the extra stock left over will come to India. This also means, if demand keeps on being high in ME countries (possible due to Covid), there will be no stock allocation at all for a long time (maybe an year or so) Frankly, Sony should never have come to India themselves. 3rd party distributor would have been best in these cases I think. Since they are not affiliated with Sony - they themselves will place an order with SIE/Sony EU as customers, and Sony will have to honor it. Then they can sell the stock here. If it was a good 3rd party, we could have got the stock on launch as well. Would be happy to be proven wrong though

Frankly, for DS4 retailers are your best bet. Are there no proper retailers selling DS4 near your place?
-
But if everyone just says f**k it and buys Xbox in the interim before it launches - that's a different situation Sony India is incompetent. Just a couple more pushes - delays in launching games here more and all - and India will go Xbox land lol. The fact that Sony EU launches digital games day and date here along with the EU store is all that's saving them.
