  1. Personally, I think the next series will come in 2019 (mid maybe). There was no need to make that statement, unless they actually wanted to delay the next set of cards. Not to mention, the article is from Tuesday (I only found it today though; sorry for late post), so it's already been a couple of days since Computex. And we have not heard anything new since.

For 2018 release they should have announced something by now, instead of making such statements. We are already halfway through the year without hearing anything.

Just my opinion though. I'm not an expert in the industry.

  2. No new GPUs from NVidia for a long time according to NVidia CEO:

    Excerpts from the article:

"Unfortunately at Computex 2018, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang handed out even more bad news for PC gamers this week when he announced that new next-gen GPUs from Nvidia won’t be available for “a long time.

"And now, Huang has all but confirmed that anyone trying to wait things out until next-gen hardware arrives is going to have to sit on their hands a little longer."

    Source: https://gizmodo.com/nvidia-ceo-says-new-gpus-wont-be-available-for-a-long-t-1826569249

So no new series GPU from Nvidia for quite a bit of time it seems.

SE is weird like that. They mismanage the f**k out of all projects. FF XV took insane amount of time to make and even then they shipped an unpolished product because they had to push something out the door.

However $100 mil is like the bare minimum for AAA games these days. You need to sell only 1.7 million copies at full price to break even. It's really not a tough task with 150 million systems out there.

No idea where the 1.7 million no. came up. But it's still not enough. Especially when you consider that many people will just wait for sale or buy it from 3rd party sites or with regional pricing (not even including piracy into the argument). And if by any chance, those Gamepass rumors were true, then loss is even more guaranteed (unless MS agreed to foot up a significant amount of the production cost; in which case, I don't see why it was not an exclusive) as most people will just take the 1 month trial or $10 sub and finish the game.

If SE really can't control the budget, they really need to re-invent the series again to have some series defining factor to it, that makes it unique and people love it.. People got tired of God of War after Ascension, but SSM re-invented the series and made it amazing. TLOU has an amazing story, which people can't wait for. Uncharted had the whole lovable protag and banter between the casts (especially Nate and Sully). People loved the UC characters, which included Chloe and Nadine in TLL. It also started the whole movie-esque set-piece in gaming, which gets better every game. TR tries to copy this, but that falls short in comparison to UC. What does the new Tomb Raider have, that makes it unique? SE has to think about this and not just spend more and more money on making ever-prettier graphics for the same game.

But if they do want to continue in the same direction, reduce the budget. Should the amount of $35 million be used only for marketing? A lot of people already know about the series, so can't they reduce that budget a bit and promote more via youtube or online platforms, instead of setting up posters in public places? Just an example for an idea.

Also, apparently the game cost around $75 to $100 million to develop, with around $35 million reserved for marketing and promotion.

Budget control is very important and should be according to the series. The new Tomb Raider series name is not equal to, and does not generate the same hype as say, a new God of War announcement or Uncharted/TLOU announcement. Yet SE still seems to be spending money like water, even though the game itself is quite small and can be finished very quickly with little replay value. Then they complain when the series sells "only" 3-4 million and does not pull in the GTA numbers.

Wonder what kind of management and financial team they have over at SE, who can authorize this? And how are the shareholders even OK with this kind of budget being spent?

Wow. No one playing this game here.

I am; and I'm loving it. The story's intriguing (at least till the point I am at now) and all the characters have believable motivations. It's actually a very nice game.

  6. @kold_war Persona 4 Arena is a good game. It's a very good fighting game. But I would suggest that you play Persona 4 (Golden if possible) before playing the Arena games. The story will make much more sense only if you have played the previous game. Arena story mode is set after the events of Persona 4 Golden and story can be seen as a sequel. So play Golden first. Not only that, but Golden is an awesome game, and the P4 journey should only start from there.

Also, if you ever do want to buy Persona 4 Arena, get Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (the sequel to P4A) and get the dlc for the original story mode for cheap, instead of buying the 2 games separately.

  7. @harjas If you are fine with the physical version, Persona 5 is going for approximately 3400 INR on Flipkart and 3600 INR on Amazon, which is a very good price for this game.

    @kold_war

    Spoiler

Unfortunately, the game does not make the fate of Akechi clear. What you have seen of Akechi, is the last you will see of him in this game. It's implied that he's dead (remember, he is a Persona user, so he came physically to Shido's palace), but his ultimate fate is not shown.

We will have to wait till any spinoffs release to find out more. Maybe Persona 5 Dancing will make his fate clear. But, if I have to bet, I will say he did not die. Akechi is too popular to be killed off, and I bet that they will make him come back in future spin-offs such as a potential Persona 5 Arena game . I suspect that's why they did not show us Akechi's final moments in this game.

  8. Perhaps, they are staying true to Rudyard Kipling's the Jungle Book. That book had dark parts, but it was awesome. The Disney one, was good but a it childish. And the original book showed many of the actual emotions of the humans (some of which were dark), along with the actual stakes of being a lone boy raised by animals.

It would be awesome if this movie was a faithful adaptation of the book (far better than the Disney one). Disney had toned down the Jungle Book quite a bit. Don't equate Dark = Bad immediately. Sometimes, it's awesome and far better than the wise cracking comedy routines every 2 minutes. Give it a chance.

After all the Dark Knight trilogy was dark as well, but it was awesome.

Just caught up with  the present now....holy sh*t that plot twist .....though I knew it for sure that it had to be this dumbass doing all this ....but I understand now what u meant by think and answer the vital questions carefully .....I went on denying sae nijima about my accomplices .....won't rat out my persona teammates xD....let's see how the story turns out to be !

I was a bit sleepy though(slept super late cos of this damn game :P ) when the cutscenes were shown ..I'll see the cutscenes again...but how the hell is he alive after being shot

Everything will be explained and it feels awesome when it is. If possible, post reactions to the next calling card you will send out. All these moments highlight just how awesome the PT really are, and the amazing intelligence and reach they have. It really feels like you are playing as a sophisticated group of underground criminals lol.  The group is just too awesome. Still a bit of ways for the game to end, you would now be appx. 65%-70%) through. The present arc is quite big and is one of the best times in the entire game.

  10. Back from Deadpool 2. Amazing, Amazing movie. Far better than the first one even, and the entire theatre was laughing. Also, don't miss both the end credit scenes. It was absolutely amazing, especially the 2nd credit scene.

Ryan Renolds is literally too amazing in this one as Deadpool. He's even better here than the first one and lives and breathes the role. Absolutely amazing. Just can't see anyone else for the role. Even Doopinder (movie name of Indian Guy; I don't know his real name) is just too good in this movie, better than all other supporting cast.

Regarding censorship, nothing much was censored. Gore was there in all it's visual glory. As far as cuss words are concerned, F**k escaped the cut (otherwise most of the movie would have been on mute). But other cuss words like m**fk** etc were censored.

BTW really want DP in Avengers and mainline MCU. Would live to see him cut other heroes, especially Iron Man down to size.

This is an absolute must watch movie and people who don't watch it will be missing out.

The modern day stuff is crappy. I wish they'd just move away from it entirely. No one even gives a sh*t about it. Waste of resources.

They are moving away from the modern day stuff. The modern day protagonist segment is very brief, and this is the only game after AC3, where we even had a mane and face for the modern day protagonist.

Unfortunately, they cannot move away from the modern day completely. The main reason is that the series story cannot go forward without the modern day segment. After AC3, the series story has essentially stagnated. We don't know what's happening to the Assassin's and Templars after the events of AC3. They need to find some compromise, where they can still tell the modern day story while not making the players feel stuck or bored with it.

If they completely ignore modern day altogether, then the most we will have is stuff like Syndicate or Unity, where you are a faceless Abstergo employee. They might as well just ditch the entire thing then, and just tell that the Animus is available in the market now and you are just a VR customer playing a game. No story of Assasssins or Templars at all.

What @roun90 said is spot on. P4g is my number one game. At the end of it I was really torn up because after spending months with it, I was sad to leave it all behind. Haven't played p5 yet because I know I'll have to really invest a lot of time with it, and it's really hard these days for me.

True, you are in for a long haul if you start Persona 5. But that game is absolutely not to be missed as well. Persona 5 is what happens when Atlus went systematically searching for every Persona 4 weakness and changed it to the point of making it a new strength for the series. This is along with maintaining what already were the (very substantial) strengths of Persona 4. The improvements are not to be underestimated. Some of my favorite are -

    1) Villains are improved to the sky. Every single villain will give you a reason to hate him (unlike the P4G shadow selves), and that reason is very effective. In fact people have started competitions as to which villain they hate more in P5 and even the very first villains are not to be under-estimated in that competition of scumbaggery.

    2) Social Links have been improved. They are called "Confidants" now and for a very good reason. Unlike P4, these people you form links with are not random mooks on the street. Every person can give something to the Phantom Thieves (PT for short) and the interactions are very meaningful. What starts as a give-and-take relationship with these people evolves to a relationship of trust built over time (as you advance in links) which is shown very well.

    3) Confidants also affect gameplay mechanics, and you get various different mechanics as you go further in confidants. For example, one Confidant teaches you how to give speeches and this directly improves your negotiation skills.

    4) Random battles are no longer with the black blobs (which we called shadows), but with actual Personas, all of which have proper animations and 3d models.

    5) Getting new Personas, is no longer via random card draws, but instead via hostage negotiations. You can hold the enemy Personas hostage and demand that they join you, give you money or items via negotiation. Conversely, the enemy Personas can also hold you or your party members hostage and negotiate for things from you.

    6) The individual palaces are beautiful. Every Palace has it's own unique theme, puzzles and challenges which you have to overcome.

    7) Each villain arc feels like it's own story, but they are all interconnected in ways which I cannot tell without spoilers.

    8) The stakes are much higher for the PT and you really feel the urgency with the threat of each villain.

    9) Much like the Italian Job, each member of the PT have their own skills (according to the story) and are not a random gathering.

    10) As always the story, character interactions and OST is awesome. It truly feels like Persona, and will leave you sad when the game ends.

The only neutral difference I will say is that the anime comedy that you had in P4 is a little toned down here, but it's still there.

Overall, this is a game that's not to be missed. Do play it when you have the time.

Done with the okamura castle ,now all the drama behind the phantom theiives is going on currentl

    y

haven't caught up to the present as of now....still finding out as to who's trying to setup the phantom thrives ....people are losing belief in the phantom theives and phantom theives radar just dropped from 90% down to 25-30%

As for p4g.....I'm yet to complete this ,will take it up after 3-4 months but thanks for the heads up

As I thought, you are nowhere near the end yet. I will say you are at late mid-game now. There is still quite a ways for you to go. Also, just to save you some pain later, do not ignore mementos. Do them as and when you are able, up to the last point you can reach. Also, when you do catch up to the present, be careful with the interrogation going on. A hint -

    Spoiler

remember what's most precious in the entire game and stay loyal to that.

That's all I can say without major spoilers.

just about to start the last castle now...about 75 hrs done so far.....wasted about 6-7 hours in the 1st castle cos i fked up and it made me repeat a week :P

but anyways overall what a game damn.......my 1st persona game .....its like the game of the forever for me!

    will definitely try p4g soon

By last which dungeon are you in right now? I ask because there are red herrings that make it feel like the last dungeon but it's not. Also did you catch up to the present timeline?

Any Persona game ending is going to leave you sad. It makes a person feel something is missing inside, as it feels like you are saying goodbye to friends every time.

If you are going to play P4G, keep in mind that the beginning is quite slow compared to P5. You will spend first couple of hours without doing anything related to the mystical World or have battles. But that's fine since that precious time is used for establishing friendships and character development. And the game is absolutely awesome if you can get past that initial couple of hours. Oh and you are not Phantom Thieves in that one, so the way some mechanics work is different. And the dungeons are procedurally generated in P4G, like Mementoes and not hand-crafted like the P5 Palaces. Some QoL changes are not there and the calender is much stricter if you are looking to max Social Links.

But the game is absolutely awesome, despite all that. Character interactions are one of the best you will find in any games period. It goes straight in the list of the best games you can play in your lifetime and should not be missed at any cost. Just pointing out the negatives, so you can be prepared going in as to what to expect.

  16. MS would have had to pay up huge amounts of money if the game is to be brought to game pass, considering it will affect sales on all 3 platforms (including the X1) as people can just pay for the trial and complete the game. Tomb Raider is not a huge game and can easily be finished within 10-14 days. It would be a completely stupid move on SE's part to agree to let the full game come on game pass at launch (perhaps even more than ROTR's timed exclusive).

One way I can see this coming to gamepass, that makes more sense is if the game is time gated and progression gated, to not allow progression past a certain point unless full game is purchased, such as demos or what EA did for ME:Andromeda at launch.

  17. @slackerninja I also second the request to extend the spoiler bans. Many of us have received the game just 2 days ago, and have not had much time to play it yet. And there is a dedicated spoiler thread for discussing spoilers. Many thanks for considering this request.

  18. Did not get the game yet, as I am travelling and have the LE pre-booked in India. But in Singapore, I did come across the complete artbook for GoW (not the mini artbook that comes with LE/CE; the complete 200+ page one) which I purchased.

Just posting the cover pics here, which does not have any spoiler.

Hv only given a cursory glance to the book contents and will only go in detail once I have played the game.

BTW if it's of any comfort; at the store I asked at least, it seems LE did not come to Singapore at all. Regarding CE, the shopkeeper said they had some weird version in Singapore, which had the normal (not steelbook) cover. And it was OoS as well.

And all editions were pretty much out  of stock everywhere. Even standard editions was OoS in many places, with some places being left out eith 1-2 copies. Did not even get a glimpse of any special editions anywhere.
