  1. guys..

    http://www.rcom.co.i...tpaidplans.html

is that freedom 999 (12mbps, 25gb) plan fth or normal copper vala broadband ?

getting rid of airtel and calling reliance tom for a new connection.. :exoticdance:

No, freedom 999 requires new wiring and stuff. Ask CC if its feasible on your area.

Its the regular copper wala broadband. I am getting both Freedom 999 and Thunder 1099 from the same wire type ie copper one.

ah nvm.. ill get that 1099 plan then..

also, I heard that reliance bb requires some login every time u turn it on.. so how will it work on my ps3/mobile ? :scratchchin: and is netgear dgn1000 supported or will I have to buy a new router now ?

Yep thats true. Rest of the stuff is as The Rock mentioned.

  2. So tempted to go for thunder 1099 plan. :nerves: But reports like

cont.. and many others, scare the f**k out of me. Can't live without net.. and honestly BSNL hasn't given me any problem(downtime included) since ages. BSNL 1350UL (4mbps till 30gb, 512kbps afterwards) sucks infront of that thunder plan. Any reliance user from Chd/Delhi, please let know how the connection/customer service is. want that so badly.. at the same time hoping BSNL changes their 1350UL plan and take out that stupid FUP limit /oligopoly

If no one in your area that you know of can offer you a review of connectivity of Reliance broadband, then its best that you get the connection for a month or so without disconnecting your BSNL connection.

  3. Which plan is it ? Thunder 1099 ? if yes speeds are low should be around 1Mbps

^^ It's absolutely fine. You're getting 2 Mb(bits)ps, which will give you a DL speed of 2048/8 (bits to bytes) = 256KBps maximum. There's of course some loss, so 250KBps is perfect.

For home user its always 1/8. For corporate/business plans usually most of the regular plans or leased lines provide 1:1 ratio. So as Alekh said it will be 4096/8 = around 512KBps.

  4. I got to know that reliance uses different ppoe standard cause of which no adsl router works with them so u have to get a new one.

Chirag - which router do u have ? Do u have to do mac clonning on reliance ?

Yes, mac cloning is required on reliance wireline connection as its meant for single user as per reliance. I am using Asus RT16 and Netgear WNDR4500.

  5. I submitted my details on their site but they haven't contacted me yet. Maybe I'll call them up after work today.

Applied online AND on phone. Still no calls. :|

Guys, that usually doesn't work. Especially that online form. I found number of their local franchise guy via justdial.

Initial 2 numbers in the following link might help! Although getting their cellphone number is the quickest way to get in touch with them.

  6. @waveking, yes its definitely good atleast from my experience thats what I can say. I have seen some old threads back from 2008-09 on other broadband forums where they were ranting about reliance being bad, but I have been using their service for gaming since 2010 and have no complaints. NAT shows open on Xbox without port forwarding as well. And I have recently moved to PS3 and have been downloading PSN games without proxy and I could download whole game at 1.4-1.7 mbps speed.

My only and biggest complaint is every 24 hours one has to re-login onto their portal in order to reconnect. Apart from that I have no other complaints.

@Dinjo, no there is no FUP.

I have been using their service since past 2 years now and I haven't faced any downtimes so far until one recently that they blamed to some upgradation.

I am using Freedom 999 and Thunder 1099.

Speed on Freedom 999 climbs as far as 20-24 mbps at times.

Kehte hai shaadi ki gaanth to aasman mein hi bandh jaati hai,

Insaan to sirf petikot, salwaar, bra ki gaanthe kholne ke liye hi zameen par bheja jaataa hai!

    Dabaao na aur jorse,

Esa karo mera blouse nikaldo meri saree bhi,

    Ab dabao,

    Thoda jorse,

    Tumhara pant bhi nikaldo,

Dekho ho gayi na suitcase bandh!
