Stick to discussing the game, if you have nothing to add please don’t post. What people are in their personal life has nothing to do with the game.

if you want to discuss your anti DEI BS , do it on twitter or your own personal groups

     Will not warn again.

    This.

  2. Hey guys, dropped by to say that I had a wonderful experience dealing with Gtek recently. I'm upgrading my PC and got the critical components - the CPU and Motherboard from Gtek. It was a super smooth experience right from placing the order (thanks @harjas), to shipping. The parts I bought are:

    AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

ASUS ROG Strix B550 Gaming F Wifi

Here's a pic of the hardware (the CPU and Board are from Gtek) before I started building.

Would definitely recommend Gtek and will surely be purchasing from them in the future!

PS: Thanks for the freebie, much appreciated!

I used to envy my friend who had a 8800gt and used to play it with high graphics, i on the other hand to struggle with fps even at lower quality. Had a folder of 500+ screenshots of crysis 1 alone.

Played Crysis on the same card back in the day :)

And yeah, this series needs to go on. I've enjoyed pretty much all of the games.

I didn't visit other regions for one reason and that is the icons. Don't want my map to be filled with incomplete icons that will make me not to touch it. Playing slowly, enjoying and completing region by region. BKtoRqb.png

This is exactly what I'm doing and for the same reason. I'm using the main missions as guide for progression (despite having outleveled pretty much all of them at this point). It's so much easier to focus on clearing 1-2 zones at a time than having the entire map filled with incomplete icons. Besides it also helps me appreciate how varied the zones are and the side quests have more context and don't feel like an obligatory activity, otherwise it just starts to become a blur. For example the side quests in Memphis are related to the main quest and it would feel really weird to do them out of order (even though it's possible).

  5. Kenway was good too, not top 3 good though. I liked Evie as well and surprisingly Connor is a solid character if you give that game enough time. Now that I think of it, AC3 was the riskiest game in the series. Whether it paid off or not is another story.

  6. I must say Bayek is a really good AC protagonist, Ezio and Altair are still GOAT but Bayek is definitely #3 for me. I like that he isn't a one-dimensional killing machine but actually acts like a human being when needed. Aya is a great character too.

  7. Game keeping getting better and better. Currently in Memphis and just did that whole...

Dream boss fight with giant snake.

I really liked the entire section in Giza btw. That entire zone is really eerie and desolate, endless sand dunes, mysterious ruins and of course the pyramids which you can

explore from the inside! I thought this was cool even if it was limited. Also that whispering when you approach the cliffs on one side of map really creeped me out.

    .

Overall Giza was a highlight for me and it was capped by a really cool assassination/boss fight.

Also Phylakes have become easier to take down now (as long as they're close to my level). I'm still outleveling most of the main and side missions by almost 10 levels in some cases.

Somehow I really wish this game was less directed. It's so beautiful and wonderfully detailed that it begs to explored rather than guided with icons everywhere. I know Ubi doesn't want to alienate players by dropping these altogether but I wish it was a less hand-holdy experience overall.

  8. I loved the original but always felt it needed a bit more polish. Looks like the sequel is exactly that.

@Heaven Angel like Joe said, it's both. Basically deck building and dungeon crawling. The dungeon crawling happens via a card game and the fights are third-person hack and slash (combat is similar to Batman and Mordor). It also has a great narrator in the form of the card dealer. Overall a fairly unique experience.

  9. I didn't mean easy in a negative sense, it's fun and that's all that matters. In fact I like that I can finish encounters in seconds. Besides, I am playing this along side Elex where getting your a*s kicked in every encounter is normal.

I think this DLC is more of the core Horizon game that I loved all those months ago. Except for how the overall story pans out. The main game just had that sense of, "What's gonna happen now? Let's play some more and find out." Which made it difficult to put down. The DLC is more like, "Well, okay."

I haven't tried the DLC yet but this is what I liked about the original game. Normally in open world games I only go to main story quests once I get bored of doing side stuff (or I've done everything available) but this game did a great job of making the story missions interesting from a story perspective. I came out quite impressed by the storytelling.

  11. CC...

Adding my thoughts to the world "detail" topic...

I like what they've done here and it's a huge step up for the series in terms of immersion. However I'd still put Rockstar's stuff above it in terms of sheer details and things happening without your input - GTA V and RDR are both excellent in that aspect. Also the towns and villages in The Witcher 3 had more personality than the ones in ACO where they're mostly brief stopovers to pick up new quests and move on. Whereas the places in Witcher had so much more going on in terms of characters and events. Hell, Novigrad was like an open world RPG in itself. I remember when I came out of there after hours and hours of questing the open world actually felt different. So yeah ACO is a step up in terms of graphics I still feel it lacks a certain character that Rockstar and CDPR games have.

I'm about 15-16 hours in and loving the game btw. The combat feels so fluid! A bit on the easy side (unless you come across the Phylakes) but it's a lot of fun to chain attacks and take down enemies in style.

Mine is an antique rig with an i5 3.2 ghz/760. Runs Wolfenstein II just fine though in High settings.

The patch was supposed to improve the performance though.

I honestly didn't see a performance increase with the latest patch. I'd suggest checking with people who are playing on those specs. Theoretically it should work on medium to high settings but you never know. The game isn't well optimized and I see a lot of conflicting reports about performance.

Is it correct to assume that if your rig can run Syndicate, then Origins would run OK as well?

All the hullabaloo about performance has kept me on fence.

Can't say, what are your specs? The game hammers the CPU constantly for some reason (100% on all cores) but performance is stable for me (60 fps outside cities, 54 avg inside on an i5 4670K/1070). Also the game is a huge visual upgrade over Syndicate (at least for my eyes) and is a lot bigger with denser environments.

For me, it's the most detailed looking game to date. Every little thing has enough detail to grab your attention. Every place I go, I get awe-struck and end up taking photos. Yes, it's that good. en08afI.png

As for ranking among AC games, right there with II and Black Flag overall. Kudos to Ubisoft for taking a year off and putting a tonne of effort in making Origins.

No complaints whatsoever; which is extremely rare for Ubisoft games.

I second the comments about attention to detail and I love how smooth everything feels. I've been methodically clearing areas in each sector and I like that it's a relatively fast process.

I'm really enjoying Light Bows btw, it's like using an SMG in close quarters lol.

I thought I should play this game after I'm done with EW2 but all of a sudden I saw so many negative reviews on steam because Ubisoft decided to screw this game and make it even worse for their consumers instead of improving. Well done Ubisoft! ..

Well if it matters my experience has been mostly solid so far. Yes there are dips to 50s in cities but for the most part the game is smooth. Now I can't say how the game scales on other configs but it isn't a complete disaster and I consider my PC to be mid-range. Steam reviews are never a good benchmark, you have whiners who will leave a negative review if they see a single dip below 60 on their "high end" PCs. So at best, take it with a grain of salt.

@Joe Cool At what point does Reda start showing up in the game? For reference I just...

Did the two assassinations (the Snake and that other dude) in Alexandria and spoke to Aya.

BTW I'm not fond of the Chariot Race activity at all. On one hand, yay Ben Hur! But it doesn't play well, the AI is very aggressive and the track seems too small for something so epic. It also feels like a part that was clearly built by completely different team.

It's about ~70-100 hours if you plan to complete main and side quests along with some activities on the way.

About ~15 regions have main quests and ~20 have side quests. Each region gives 1-10 quests based on the region size.

Example: Faiyum has ~10 side quests while Ka-Khem Nome has only 1.

There are also Arenas, Hippodrome, Hunting grounds, Papyri puzzles, Stone circles, War elephants, Tombs, Hermits, Ptolemy, Strongholds. Apart from that, we also have daily quests, world events and Phylakes.

You cannot wipe the map clean at all since dynamic/radiant quests keep popping. The OCD is going to kick in soon. kralNej.png

Thanks! Somehow missed your earlier post. This is helpful. It's best if I keep playing it along side other stuff then.

    earlier, Dustin mentions that

      Hide contents

Dart has got this landmark patch/color on his a*s or something like that, and when they encounter in that scene, he notices that, that's how he comes to know it's Dart

y u no pay attention Tyli :spank:

Ah I didn't remember that. But I still think my theory has credence.

And today I thought of another thing...

Dustin is the one who wants to put the dead demo-dog in the Byers' fridge "for science" (a plot point that wasn't resolved in this season). Was the Mind Flayer manipulating him?

    200 + hours

Let me put it another way. How long is the game without actively trying to do everything and clearing all landmarks on the map? The story + side quests can't be 200 hours right? I can tell doing everything will take a long time just by looking at the size of the map and how dense the regions are.

BTW I'm loving the little papyrus puzzles, they aren't hard at all but it's fun solving the little riddles and getting some decent loot.
