It's about ~70-100 hours if you plan to complete main and side quests along with some activities on the way.

About ~15 regions have main quests and ~20 have side quests. Each region gives 1-10 quests based on the region size.

Example: Faiyum has ~10 side quests while Ka-Khem Nome has only 1.

There are also Arenas, Hippodrome, Hunting grounds, Papyri puzzles, Stone circles, War elephants, Tombs, Hermits, Ptolemy, Strongholds. Apart from that, we also have daily quests, world events and Phylakes.

You cannot wipe the map clean at all since dynamic/radiant quests keep popping. The OCD is going to kick in soon. kralNej.png

Thanks! Somehow missed your earlier post. This is helpful. It's best if I keep playing it along side other stuff then.

    earlier, Dustin mentions that

Dart has got this landmark patch/color on his a*s or something like that, and when they encounter in that scene, he notices that, that's how he comes to know it's Dart

y u no pay attention Tyli :spank:

Ah I didn't remember that. But I still think my theory has credence.

And today I thought of another thing...

Dustin is the one who wants to put the dead demo-dog in the Byers' fridge "for science" (a plot point that wasn't resolved in this season). Was the Mind Flayer manipulating him?

    200 + hours

Let me put it another way. How long is the game without actively trying to do everything and clearing all landmarks on the map? The story + side quests can't be 200 hours right? I can tell doing everything will take a long time just by looking at the size of the map and how dense the regions are.

BTW I'm loving the little papyrus puzzles, they aren't hard at all but it's fun solving the little riddles and getting some decent loot.

Small spoiler, please be careful of what you post. These minor things ruin the experience.

Don't worry, I'm usually careful with real spoilers. It's an AC game, of course you'd get it at some point! And it's very early in the game. Let's not turn this forum into NeoGAF pls.

Erica stole it for me :P Hilarious

    Yeah she was great.

I was just thinking about that one moment from the final episode which bothered me... and it might not be that stupid at all.

The part where Dustin encounters Dart in the tunnels and feeds him who then let's them pass. First of all how was Dustin sure it was Dart apart from the fact that it didn't immediately attack? It could have been another random demo-dog. That whole scene was like that Prometheus stupid scientist moment but I just remembered that there was a part earlier where Dustin got "sprayed" by one of the organic plant-like things in the tunnels. He said he was alright and that it didn't enter his mouth, but maybe it did and now he's infected with some Upside Down stuff. It's possible that the Mind Flayer sensed that and let them pass (the creatures are a hive mind).

Now earlier Hopper also got sprayed by that stuff but then the lab guys cleaned him up later, so he seems to be safe. Remember he was also puking right after that, but the stuff is probably out of his system. If all of this is true then Dustin might become the Mind Flayer's connection in Season 3. I can't see any other reason for the spraying stuff to have two prominent moments when it didn't actually lead to anything.

    Just a theory...

  6. This "change" in Kratos is actually what makes this game interesting for me. Angry Kratos was cool when you're an adolescent kid but not when you're in your 30s. However I have a feeling that they're deliberately holding things back, I'm sure there'll be a huge pay-off in the game.

Also, the combat is looking very nice.

  7. Finally made it to Alexandria (in the most anti-climactic way possible - chasing a side mission target). Got the hidden blade and a shave.

I think I might stop exploring every "?" on the map and just focus on the side missions and main story while only doing the ?s if I'm really close to them. I really don't want to burn myself out and end up not finishing the game like 60% of the Assassin's Creeds I've played.

  8. Hmmm, not impressed by the trailer tbh. Way too torture-porn-y and seems to be focused on the wrong aspects from the first game. I understand they want to do something like "The Road" where humans are far more dangerous than anything else but this felt gratuitous as hell. I liked TLOU for it's lush "destroyed beauty" theme and this trailer being set in some nondescript forest at night didn't do anything for me. Then again, this is just a short look but if they're going to focus on the brutality and gore aspect, especially for a first proper reveal, then it's not a good sign. I have no doubt the final game will be great but I'm not very happy with this trailer.

The Monster Drink Rain Bow is pretty good as well. Comes with first person cam like Far Cry bow.

So far I've seen four types of bows - Hunter bows that can fire charged shots, Warrior Bows that can fire multiple arrows, rapid-firing Light Bows and the Predator Bows which are precision weapons and put you in first person view. I love these options!

  10. ^^ That is exactly why I asked if it wasn't possible to upgrade certain weapons.

One thing I forgot to mention - is that the map seems HUGE! I zoomed all the way out and saw the number of "regions". I haven't even been to Alexandria yet and I've already played for more than 6 hours.

  11. Yeah I kind of agree, end of September / beginning of October would've been a much better window if they had to delay it. Activision expected people to double-dip but honestly Destiny was never THAT great. If an impulsive person like me was able to hold out pretty sure everyone else also did.

  12. I just wish they did away with the icon bloat tbh, It was a great opportunity to break away from the Ubi open world formula. Just keep the exploration organic. With the way it is now - you typically mark an icon and just start making a dash for it without taking in the scenery - which is a shame because the environment is so richly detailed.

  13. About Episode 7...

The entire point was unlocking El's true potential. It was like a reverse Xavier/Magneto scene from X-Men: First Class. However spending a whole episode introducing brand new characters that have little bearing on the story for Season 2 was overkill. It didn't help that I didn't like those punks at all, Kali was okay but the rest of the group was meh. I'm sure they could have done the whole El power level increase in a different way. I did like Goth El though, she looked pretty badass at the end. That entire sequence with Hopper and her on the lift gave me goosebumps - the music, the lighting and the visuals were perfect.

BTW Dustin and Steve are the best!

That applies to pretty much everything these days. If you focus on side-stuff, you are always over-levelled for main stuff.

However, the regions are level divided. Simply cannot move way too ahead without levelling up as even a 2-3 levels above you kills you instantly.

In terms of damage, maybe but epic/legendary weapons offer much more than rare items. Example: that Fang weapon, I used it till level 10 despite it being level 1 weapon. It was so strong due to the stats.

That is true I suppose. The game still feels too safe, but maybe it feels that way because I'm playing it alongside a Piranha Bytes game.

It's good to know that there are epic weapons with special stats. Can they be upgraded like the common/rare ones? I actually like the weapon upgrade system. Also like the variation in movesets for different weapon types.

  15. A lot of gems on the OST, especially all the callbacks to "Kids" and "She'll Kill You" from Season 1. Also, I highly recommend checking out Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein's electronic/synthwave band S U R V I V E. It's the reason they were hired for this series to begin with.

  16. Cross-posting my Stranger Things 2 review from Facebook...

If the first season was Alien, this is Aliens. It's bigger, bolder, darker and builds upon the first season to give us another solid rollercoaster ride fueled by 80s nostalgia and a killer soundtrack. The cast is excellent with some great performances across the board from the kids and adults both. The show once again perfectly balances suspense, emotion, horror and of course humor. One of my complaints about the first season (as amazing as it is) was that it felt a bit predictable especially for someone who has seen a lot of sci-fi/horror films (it's even lampshaded by a character here). Season 2 on the other hand has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and I loved how it plays with conventions and has a number of unexpected moments.

However the highlight is still it's 80s setting and how it feels like something that was genuinely made in that era. From the soundtrack choices (both licensed and original music) to the period accurate pop culture references, it's pretty much spot on. There are some very cool H.P. Lovecraft-inspired visuals involving the otherworld - The Upside Down. I personally liked this a lot since the first season only briefly touched upon this aspect of the story. There are numerous references to classic sci-fi movies but mainly the Alien and Aliens ones stood out for me. It's amazing how many scenes paralleled some of the iconic moments from those films. This season also benefits from a greatly expanded budget as some of action is bigger and the story moves to newer locations.

Stranger Things 2 is almost perfect but does suffer from a few flaws. I had some issues with one episode (#7) in particular which feels somewhat like a departure from the rest. It isn't a bad episode and I understand what they were going for, but I'm not sure it was a good idea to spend an entire episode on it. It killed some of the pacing which is otherwise one of the show's biggest strengths. There's also a minor Prometheus-like moment towards the end which I felt was unnecessary. That said, I loved how everything came together at the end and it is capped off by one of the sweetest epilogues I've ever seen in a film or TV.

This is probably my favorite thing on TV right now so I'd highly recommend watching it. It's like a mashup of Stephen King, John Carpenter, Lovecraft, Alien, Harry Potter, X-Men and more with extremely likeable characters and loads of memorable moments.

  17. Played for about 6-7 hours this weekend... PC version. Some thoughts:

Let's get the technical stuff out of the way first. I'm playing at 1080p on the Very High preset with Adaptive Vsync (my specs: i5 4670K / GTX 1070 / 16GB / SSD) and it runs well enough. It's not 60 fps locked all the time as there are dips (to low 50s) in the more populated areas. However gameplay is very smooth for the most part and it looks bloody amazing! A lot has to do with the art direction but man this is one gorgeous game. Also, the game seems to be very heavily CPU-bound as turning down the graphics options doesn't necessarily make the populated areas run better. Note that this is simple observation - not some benchmark I ran. But overall I find the game very playable and in 6-7 hours I never had a single crash. It does make my CPU cooler fans noisy though, so there's that.

As for the game itself, it's a definite improvement over Syndicate which I felt was bland. The setting itself adds so much (though the ancient Egypt setting isn't as "ancient" as I expected). The change in controls over the standard AC controls is a welcome one and I love the new combat mechanics. Melee combat feels crunchy as hell and very responsive. Bows are very OP especially with some of the ranged upgrades. I also like that you don't need to hold A all the time to run around. I swapped B and X since dodging with B is now second nature thanks to the Soulsborne games.

The progression and structure is a bit of a letdown though since it's pretty much the same old Ubisoft icon-fest all over again. Also the progression system feels very linear and if you keep doing the side quests and other activities you'll almost always be over-leveled for everything. The loot/gear aspect is also very simplistic and scales in a linear fashion with no real choices to make. If you find something in a higher level area, it will automatically be better. It feels like "baby's first RPG" in many ways but at least they're given side quests a little more story (definitely seems inspired by The Witcher 3). Still, I can't help but notice how mechanical everything feels. This is in stark contrast to the other open world game I'm playing - Elex which offers much more freedom and non-linearity in how you progress both in the story as well as character building. Then again, AC isn't really meant to be an RPG so I can forgive that.

The story seems OK so far and I like the main character. The dialog is very similar to previous games (not very good but serviceable).

Overall, I'm happy with the game. It's fun to play and looks spectacular. I just hope that it continues to hold my interest.
