Not even the a beep... they just cut out the entire dialogue! And some of those are the best lines in the movie...
BTW they don't even show Leo getting shot in the elevator, how bad is that?
-
Well I use a screen guard too but I'm still scared of the accidental drop... the surface of the phone is too slippery.
-
^^ Nice buy there.
BTW, I use a jacket for my iPhone too. Somehow it kills the phone's looks but it's really necessary.
-
@Ne0... LOL, try watching The Departed on HBO, it's a freakin' joke!
-
^^ +1 to that. Aamir was a good movie too. Sadly these movies never get any recognition while the big banners keep raking in the cash and awards (as if those awards matter anyway).
-
@Rocky, here's my setup... my HTS (Sony) has an optical in. My TV is connected to my PS3 via HDMI. PS3 sound output goes to the HTS via optical. Of course you'll need the required cables - an HDMI and an optical.

Yup! Will post impressions once that massive download is complete. Yes, it's coming to consoles later this year but I'm really not sure how a Diablo-inspired clickfest would translate to consoles.

Bought this off Steam yesterday...

^^
Yes, no alien squid, it will be Dr. Manhattan.
I kinda see how it fits for the movie though, the
alien squid
worked in the comic but wouldn't have worked in a movie especially if it keeps a dead serious tone throughout.

^^ It has been said a number of times before that Watchmen is something unfilmable. Moore never likes like works to be adapted to film anyway (besides being the usual grumpy old fart of the comic book world). His other works haven't quite been adapted well anyway, LXG was a disaster, From Hell was meh and VfV wasn't exactly the same story after all the changes.
The problem is that when it comes to superhero flicks people will come expecting a movie on the lines of last year's big super hero blockbusters, so they probably won't like it. People who have read the novel will not like it because most will think "OMFG!! Snyder raped Watchmen!". The movie is gonna have a tough time at the B.O. no doubt. It'll probably end up being this year's Speed Racer...

Watched "The Condemned"
Highly enjoyable flick.
Yup! Straight out of the 80s... they should make more movies like these.

you think v for vendetta movie is bad :| ? I liked it. Maybe because I didn't read the novel, but the movie was definitely good.
btw, i read 'watchmen'. Thanks tyler for recommending it to me. But it was nothing like i expected. A story about a bunch of super heroes - u expect lot of action, scheming villains , gorgeous setting and stuff. Watchmen is nothing like that. I won't spoil it, since many are reading it here. But now, I'm completely skeptical about how they are going to make it into a movie ? I mean, unless they change the movie script drastically, this movie is gonna be a super flop. But if they make the movie as per the book, I'm gonna love it. And some of the things in the book are "not family friendly stuff" to be in a super hero movie , whose main target audience are kids/family.
Glad you liked it. BUT (and it's a big BUT) you seem to have missed the point with the very first sentence you said about it. Watchmen is the antithesis of your classical superhero story. If you compare it with JLA or X-Men then that's exactly what Moore didn't intend. Watchmen is meant to show superheroes in a different light. The art might look like a comic from the 70s but make no mistake it's a very mature story. The intention was to show superheroes as flawed individuals... hey it's not easy to be a "hero". What would you do if you were a superhero? That's the question Watchmen wants to ask readers.
Also, the Cold War era setting is a political comment on the state of the world (back then of course). Every character and situation is a metaphor for something in the real world.
Try re-reading it... not as a superhero tale with tons of action and over the top villians but as a story which shows us what it would be like if we really had superheroes protecting us. And would we really need them?
PS: Also try DC's Kingdom Come, it has a very Watchmen-eque storyline but you have your familiar characters like Supes, Batman, Wonder Woman etc...

"Lost & Damned" Hands-on
Source: http://gamesblog.ugo.com/index.php/gamesbl...nds_on_preview/
The concept of DLC is not a new one, but since it really came into the forefront with the whole horse-armor debacle, things have definitely progressed. Sure there’s still school girl skirts on sale for five bucks, or a magic spatula for 300 MS points, but there are also much larger, more impressive DLC projects in the works. Based on what we’ve seen, GTA 4‘s first downloadable episode, The Lost and the Damned, is the most epic DLC yet.For 20 bucks, you’re getting a brand new story to play through in the world of Liberty City. Instead of being eastern European badass Niko Bellic, The Lost and the Damned stars Johnny “The Jew” Klebitz (yes, he’s actually in The Tribe), the vice president of one of Liberty City’s motorcycle clubs, The Lost. Johnny has been in charge of the club while his brother, the club’s president, Billy, has been in rehab, and he’s done quite a good job. Forming truces with nearby bike gangs and moving away from the drug trade, he’s managed to make his gang a safe and profitable establishment. Unfortunately, when Billy comes out of rehab things go a bit south. Hot-tempered and selfish, Billy quickly ruins the truce by blowing away a member from another gang, and from there it’s all-out biker gang war. New high-quality cut-scenes and voice acting match the professional level we’ve come to expect from GTA, and they are spread generously throughout the DLC, making the experience feel on par to Niko’s journey.
Unlike practically every GTA protagonist that came before him, Johnny is not new to the city, not trying to make a name for himself. He’s got friends, he’s got a hideout and he’s well respected. Therefore you won’t need to ingratiate yourself to other gang members with mandatory bowling or darts sessions. All of that is still in there from GTA 4, but it’s entirely optional. You still have a cell phone, though, and you’ll be calling in back-up, gun deliveries and replacement bikes when the need arises, but mostly you’re going to be focusing on conquering the 10 to 15 hour long story.
The story is the most compelling bit of The Lost and the Damned. It takes place alongside GTA 4‘s plot line, so you’ll see a lot of crossover, with familiar faces like Ray, Elizabeta and Playboy X. Hell, even Niko is a big part of the game, and you’ll play at least one mission with him. If you recall, Johnny was actually a bit part in GTA 4, in the mission where a drug deal turns bad and Playboy and Niko are forced to escape the cops via a series of rooftops. Johnny was at the deal too, and while Niko and Playboy bolt upstairs, you’ll head down, playing out the scene in a completely different way.
The developers at Rockstar North really tried to advance the idea of this different perspective, even changing up the overall look of the game. When you load up The Lost and the Damned (selectable from GTA 4‘s pause menu), you’ll notice a few major differences. The HUD and the menu screen have a distressed, almost rusty look. It’s subtle, but you’ll likely notice it straight away. The screen’s also speckled with a film grain filter similar to Mass Effect or Rockstar’s own Manhunt. Lastly the developers are tweaking some of the in-game lighting to give the city a slightly different visual vibe from GTA 4. Again it’s nothing major, just enough to make you feel like you’re seeing everything through new eyes.
Other additions include a handful of new weapons (an auto pistol, an auto shotgun, a grenade launcher, pipe bombs and a sawed-off shotgun) and a ton of new motorcycles. Motorcycles have also been tweaked so that they’re much easier to ride and harder to fall off of, which is a welcome improvement that will hopefully make the transition over to the original GTA 4. Unfortunately the new weapons and vehicles won’t be making the trip, at least not currently.
The highlight of our hands-on demo was in a mission called “Shifting Weight.” After a drug deal goes wrong (yes, it’s pretty common in GTA), Johnny is forced to ride bitch on a gang-member’s motorcycle as the cops chase you through the streets. You’ve got no control over the bike, but you can aim and fire your auto shotgun which, conveniently, has unlimited ammo for this mission. The cops throw everything they have at you and you’re forced to blast cop cars, SWAT trucks and even choppers
There’s a lot more left to be revealed about The Lost and the Damned, ranging from new multiplayer modes to gang member advancement, but we’ll definitely be getting another look at the game before it drops in mid February, so stay tuned.

just finished Children of men, first of all i wanna point out the fact that it has so many cats
and few nice dogs aswell
seriously speaking this movie is a real treat to watch (but not for the impatient ones
), the ending scenes were totally brilliant, i was totally aww stuck in the scene where everyone lose sense of tension and chaos when they hear the cries of the baby
.
The ending sequence is how the action in a Gears Of War movie should be shot. The camera following the Gears squad as they take cover and move from one area to the next with no cuts. Wouldn't it be awesome?

@MT, agree about the Nolan comment. Screw Bale, Jonathan Nolan is the reason why Terminator Salvation is gonna be great.
-
that was on PS2, this is PS3, hopefully this March thing ends on PS3 and we get Krato's a*s in 09

No thanks for Kratos' a*s. I just need the game....
-
^^ Does anybody know if the DLC will change / tweak anything in the main game?
-
I don't have very high expectation for Watchmen to begin with. Zack Snyder's style (read slo-mo every single scene) wouldn't work well for Watchmen. Besides, there's hardly any action in the comic. I would have preferred someone like Nolan or David Fincher for Watchmen.
As for V For Vendetta, the less you compare it with the book the better. So many things were changed it's almost a different story altogether.
-
^^ Totally.
-
^^ It's a typo, the F should be an L...

Anyway, congratulations!
-
@lA... Speed Racer.
-
Speed Racer was panned by critics and viewers alike but there are a lot of people who liked it. I watched the movie with a number of different people and everyone loved it. Got the blu-ray recently and it's definitely one of the best blu-rays I've seen. Probably it's the whole 'family' element that most westerners didn't find too appealing.
@Ne0... I agree, Casa Cristo was the best race in the movie, especially the sequence in the desert. I was a little bored during the last one...
-
^^ Nice buy!

I've been thinking of picking these up for a long time but never got around to doing it.
-
^^ I've seen most of the Batman titles at Landmark.
Watchmen might be expensive but worth every penny! It's something every super hero / comic book lover should have in their collection.
