LOL @ my fellow space marines - Snake, keyo, spin...
Also hoping this somehow turns out good.

I used the Ascetic on the last Brightstone Cove bonfire to get the Moonlight Greatsword. The enemies are easy but the damn boss is pretty much one-shotting me now. Wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't was for the pesky spiders in the room.

So I am going for a Quality build for the first run. Mostly so I can try out as many weapons as possible. Currently have 20 STR and 15 DEX and will probably end up with 30 STR and 20-25 DEX.
So I was thinking I could pump some points into Faith or Int. Is that viable? I will also have to spend points into ATT then. Lets say I wanna put in 20 points into it, which is more useful Faith or Int?
Both are equally good. However to wield some of the staffs you need both. Also Hexes require both. I'm currently playing a 'battlemage' type of build with heavy investment in INT/ATT and just bare minimum in FTH (so I can use the staff I wanted). INT is serving me well so far. If you're going for a quality build I'd say don't go for magic at all. With the way leveling works in game you really need a good amount of investment in your chosen stats. You level up very fast but the bonuses you get for investing points are pretty low per point spent. Also magic really needs ATT as well (more for casting speed than slots) same as how melee builds need END/VIT/ADP. Just get a bow and buy a shitload of poison arrows/knives for your ranged needs.

Also wow... Smelter Demon down in the very first attempt! Hooray for magic and Lucatiel!

Nice!
The beauty of Dark Souls is that all other games fade in the background. Normally I should be really excited about Reaper Of Souls coming out on Tuesday (which I have on preorder) or thinking about buying a PS4 but here I am happily hacking and slashing and throwing badass spells in Drangleic.

Afty, I felt the exact same way in my first 10 hours or so. It just wasn't clicking with me. Check my earlier posts where even I compared the movement to Demon's Souls soul form. But the good news is, it gets better, a lot better. Like I said before, I don't think each subsequent Souls game should be thought as an "improvement" over the previous. They're all different beasts and should be tackled in their own way. This involves a lot of unlearning and adapting.

That's the fun part of these games - players helping players. In addition to actually playing the game, talking about it is equally fun.

Yeah from what I know he's a fire-based boss so I'm expecting my Flame Longsword +10 to do sh*t against him. Going to try upgrading a backup weapon. I mean I always have magic but most bosses don't always give you the luxury to cast effectively. Plus my "boss killer" (a.k.a. Flame Swathe) will be ineffective against him too.

Yeah the later areas are really quite good. I finished Shaded Woods/Doors Of Pharos/Brightstone Cove Tseldora and now I'm at Iron Keep. Pretty sure this is not the intended order of doing these levels. Probably should have done Iron Keep before taking the Shaded Woods path but oh well, it wasn't like those areas gave me a lot of trouble (except maybe Shaded Woods - goddamn invisible ghosts and magic resistant lions).

The digital version has none of those issues.
As for the gameplay, yes it does feel really different at first coming right off DaS1. Dodging is tied to ADP, mainly the 'distance' you cover. Also the rolling speed/distance gradually increases/decreases based on equipment weight. It's no longer decided by 'breakpoints'. You can still do a decent roll just under 70%. Now as for dodging not working as DaS1, it's mainly because enemies have excellent tracking and most will always change direction at the very last moment. This requires you to be extremely precise with timing your dodges. It feels weird and cheap at first but trust me, you will get used to it. About halfway through the game and I can safely say that I can dodge effectively. In fact I don't think some bosses can be defeated without dodging. Actually it's blocking and tanking that is nerfed.

saw 47 ronin. Liked it ...decent movie. The magical and fantasy thing is not to that extent that it starts to hurt btu still would have been much better had they based it exactly on the event that happen in Japan. It is based on true story btw.
Watch it guys. A decent watch about 6/10.
It's like 300, a fictional/fantasy version of actual events.

has anyone used the soul vessel yet?
how does it work?
Take it back to the firekeepers at Things Betwixt. One of them will allow you to respec. Basically you keep your current soul level but you can redistribute the stats as you see fit.

Kickass game , loving it
. Got 4 four legendary items . This is my first diablo game , just checked the user metascore . Can anyone please explain why there is so much hate for this game .Most of it is from pre Loot 2.0 / AH shutdown. The game is MUCH better now.
Anyway 100% XP boost only this weekend and 50% leading up to the launch of RoS on Tuesday. Take advantage of it while you can.

Can't say based on where you are because it's possible complete areas out of order. Once you defeat the 4 primal bosses it's around 50-60% completion.
Have you opened the path to Shaded Woods in Majula?

I've anno 2070 from the previous steam sale .... yet to play, but heard good things about that as well ....
Yup, it's pretty good too. Mostly similar to 1404 but I prefer the setting in 1404 more.
-
You don't get the ember until much later into the game.
Another primal boss down Duke's Dear Freja, another boss who is pretty easy by itself but is aided by minions. Still, I love the connections these bosses have with the Lord Souls of Dark Souls 1.
I must say the later areas are fairly challenging even for a decently leveled character.

Oh man it must suck playing with all those powers at less than 60 fps

Cache works exactly the same way as money in the previous game. You get it periodically deposited into your account. So go to the menu often and withdraw it. All the boosts increase the amount you get.
I'm not sure how converting cache to XP thing works though. I don't think I bought it. You get a lot of money and XP anyway.

Everything in Joel Schumacher's Batman movies was a joke.

Two NPCs are needed for that:
- Straid in Lost Bastille - you need a Fragrant Branch Of Yore to 'unfreeze' him.
- Ornifex - she's found in Shaded Ruins and later moves to Brightstone Cove Tseldora.
Straid trades weapons/spells for lesser boss souls while Ornifex takes the more 'important' boss souls.

Yaaaawn... just do Japan already.
Black Flag was nice because of the pirate theme but this looks like the same old, same old.
@heaven angel, ship battles are cool even in AC4 but there's just so much of it that it gets old fast. Still, I loved the effects and Jackdaw upgrades. It was a lot of fun to oneshot massive ships later in the game.

@TYler sire -- Sir i am at 50% of my health and dont have human effigy in my inventory......I am currently at Huntsman copse......Is there a way to Farm effigies early on in the game.....??
Dogs in Lost Bastille have a chance to drop it. Also you can go back and talk to the women at Things Betwixt after you kill the first major boss (I think) and they give you a few. Apart from that, have you bought all of the merchant hag's stock?
Also, looks like you're running without the Ring Of Binding. Put it on and you'll have 75% health. You can also put on the Ring of Life Protection and keep repairing it to avoid the HP loss completely. It's a bit of a hassle and I personally don't do it but it surely helps when you're lugging a ton of souls through a dangerous area.
Btw anyone feel the weapon's durability reduce extremely fast? I was in drangleic castle the other day and couldn't figure out how to get in. Broke like 3 of my weapons in the process.
Yeah weapons degrade faster, depends upon the weapon but in general yes they break faster than Dark Souls 1.

Started this yesterday. Funny game.
Enjoy man. The game is absolutely hilarious with a surprisingly decent story as well. The gameplay is the real highlight though. It's the most fun you'll ever have with superpowers. It's Crackdown + Prototype + Infamous with Saints Row humor. I loved the OST as well, especially this track (from 4:00 onwards).

Yup.
It's a shame 1404 is not available on Steam. I have a physical copy of the game which I ordered from the US. The game also had one hell of a Collector's Edition. I believe MT has it.
