Apart from the charm gains Ohya is actually one of the weaker Confidants when it comes to her unlocks. The palace alarm levels are never a concern in the entire game.
That said, she has a pretty good storyline and I liked interacting with her and Lala Escargot at the bar.
Also, working at the bar is probably the best job in the game.
PS: Have you unlocked Hifumi (the Shogi player) as a Confidant yet? Her unlocks are some of the most useful as far as combat goes. And her story is one of my favorite Confidant stories in the game with a really unexpected ending.

But you might have to fuse two personas, and then fuse the resulting persona with a third one. This new one might have to be fused with a 4th one as well (which you might have to summon from registry or fuse other 2 personas to get). You see how difficult it would be (Especially considering there are so many permutations and combinations).
Yeah, this is important. Forgot to mention that.
Persona fusion is very deep and maxing out the compendium is actually an entire game by itself.

Had a massive 6 hour session yesterday.. Just one more day types. This has to be one of the best games ever made and there is so much to do.
Finished the third palace yesterday and Tyler you were right, the persona reveal was absolutely kickass. The only thing I haven't been quite able to fathom is the persona gullitone, is there a science to it. Also the twin warden are now asking for a real random persona which does not show up Anywhere in the gullitone. How do I go about getting that? I know I can Google it but if you can't find any way in game what's the whole point?
Just started the fourth palace and it does seem Intriguing. Will be out of town for a week after a few days, will miss the game.. Lol
Fourth Palace is great too. Probably the best in terms of story.
Coming to your questions...
Fusion definitely has a science to it. Normal Fusion allows you to fuse two personas to create a new one. Advanced lets you fuse three personas to create an even more powerful persona. The results are always fixed. I always prefer to "filter by result" so you can see what you can craft. The general rule is that you should craft personas that are at the maximum level that you can craft and match the arcana of the Confidants you're raising. The higher the rank the more "bonus XP" you'll earn after crafting. This allows you to craft and use personas that exceed your max level. When you fuse some of the powers of the original personas will also transfer to the newly crafted one. This is usually random and ideally you should transfer powers that match the type of persona. For example personas generally fall into magic-based, physical-based or support-oriented ones. Transfer powers accordingly. Transferring a magical ability that has very low magic stats won't be as effective for example. But you can definitely do that if you wish.
Later in the game the buffs and debuffs are very useful. Raising party attack/defense and lowering enemies' attack/defense etc. is very, VERY useful and makes the later battles far easier. So always keep personas that have the "-kaja" and "-kunda" skills.
Then there's the Strengthen Persona option which you unlock later. This basically allows you to sacrifice a persona to make another one stronger. This is useful to ensure that your preferred personas remain viable and you don't end up outleveling them. You can also convert some of them to a weapon/accessory if you have the right item (the gear is marked as transmutable). The persona is lost but you'll gain a new gear item. I didn't use this even once throughout the game. I just kept buying new gear from the Airsoft shop.
And remember that every persona you capture or craft gets added to the compendium. You can re-summon it anytime from there by paying the cost. So don't worry if you lose a persona it can always be brought back.
As for why you couldn't see the persona the twins requested, you probably don't have the recipe for it. I'd say play more and capture more personas in the coming dungeons / mementos. BTW I didn't bother with maxing out the twins, the game has enough to do already.
I also highly suggest exploring mementos after every palace until you reach a dead-end. Not only will this earn you a ton of money and XP but it will prevent some headache later in the game.

Yeah I'm leaning towards picking it up. It's unlikely the game will see a discount like that until the end of the year or later.
As for the code, no idea man, I have picked up a few bundles from that site in the past so that could be.

Hmmm, got a 30% off voucher for this from Bundle Stars in my email. Takes the price to around 2800 for the PC version (which is 3999 on Steam). Now I'm still not fully sold on the game despite liking the first one. But this seems like a great deal. Decisions...

CARPENTER BRUT - TURBO KILLER

Yep, however, I'd suggest sending the calling card and defeating the boss as soon as you get the opportunity. Waiting until the deadline to do that can be risky if you feel the need to get stronger for the boss (although I didn't find any of of the bosses terribly hard on Normal). Still it's, best to wrap it all up quickly and enjoy the free days until the deadline.

I agree, P3 hasn't aged well, however P3P is still quite playable and those who look beyond superficial aspects of games can still find enjoyment in it. I'm sure those who play P5 first will definitely want more Persona after they finish it.
I also might be in the minority but I found P3's story and setting a little better (and darker) than P4. That said, P4 is a better game overall.

I'll give the new patch a shot. Game ran ok for me but more optimizations never hurt.
As for the game itself, somehow it didn't captivate me like the original Horizon did so I never went back to it after finishing the story mode. It's quite strange actually, since this definitely has more content, more cars and looks insanely good maxed out on the PC.
-
Technically the game can be completed with ease even without maxing out Confidants and stats, at least on normal. However the Confidant stories are some of the best content in the game and they unlock some really cool bonuses / abilities. I play Persona mainly for the characters and interactions, all the RPG / dungeon crawling stuff is an added bonus. These games manage to do so much with simple animations and character art, something that western games still cannot even with shiny graphics and mo-capped animations.
That said, Persona 5 has the best gameplay of the entire series. The dungeons are a massive upgrade over the previous games. I kind of feel sorry for those who play P5 first because you won't enjoy P3 and P4 much after playing this one. And they're both still fantastic games.

SO i finished the first castle. it took me a couple of extra days i.e 4 days. Maybe cos i was just not prepared enough.. Now i think i have just 4 or 5 days for that Kamshido reveal. Can you guys please explain what I should to do prepare for the next castle battle/infiltration so that I do not waste days.
The most important one is to raise Tae Takemi to Rank 7, so you can buy SP Adhesive 3 from her for your party. At Rank 7 they will cost 50K each. If you can't afford it for all party members just get a couple and rotate them. The accessory basically restores 7 SP at the start of every turn for the character who has it equipped. You can see how it can extend the time you can spend in the palace.
You'll need Guts to rank her up past 2 so read books and do activities that increase guts (for example drinking coffee at the diner or watching a movie that raises guts). It's possible to do palaces early without SP Adhesive if you have a few SP restoring items but having it definitely helps.
Spend as much time as possible with Ryuji and Ann so their ranks also increase as they're the ones you'll be mostly be using in your party. This isn't as important as Takemi though.
Start Confidants that you haven't (especially Kawakami - it's a scripted sequence so you won't miss it).
Don't waste time trying to raise Sojiro's level, his progression is somewhat tied to the story.
A lot of the stuff that will happen between now and the next palace is scripted, but still try to spend as much time with Takemi as possible.

Edit : Also lets be real , The Alien brand has had some really bad titles until Isolation. They need to do more solid titles till the brand becomes relevant in gaming.
Especially the one directly preceding Isolation...

I think I'll be done with Prey soon and with Alien: Covenant coming up I'm really in the mood for playing something Alien-related. This game has been sitting in my backlog for a long time.

I did all of the side stuff before getting the Ancient Armor and it was a decent challenge.
The collectibles aren't too bad, I can understand it can get tiresome if you specifically go looking for them but I just did them along with other activities. I got most of them naturally as I explored each zone. It's a far cry (pun intended) from collectibles in a typical Ubisoft game.

Wow.. Thanks Tyler.. !! Thats reallly detailed. I gotta take a printout of that.. !!!
You're welcome!
Got this game from ebay using payback balance and voucher for 3100.
Practically my first jrpg.
Really excited.
Any tips for a novice?
Any genre tropes which are assumed to be known?
Sent from my ONE E1003 using Tapatalk
The game is actually quite straightforward and guides you pretty well. If you have any questions this is always a good place to ask.
As for genre tropes, Persona is actually quite different compared to a typical JRPG like Final Fantasy. It's still a very Japanese game with some mild pervy stuff and some characters and interactions come off as weird. But there's nothing in this game that should feel out of place. It does deal with some pretty heavy themes but it balances all of that with lighthearted moments.

Okay so am about five hours in and there is too much to digest. Its my first Persona game.
a) Whats the deal with having so many personas? I already have maybe 6-7 of them and how do i decide what persona to use? Do i just stick to one and keep levelling it?
From what i undestand, confidants give u extra stats etc right?c) I have just started the first infiltration in the first palace and it shows a deadline of 4th may. How do i know the day is over? I have been dungeon crawling for nearly 75 mins and there is no update anywhere regarding when the day is over etc?
A. Personas - you are supposed to constantly fuse and upgrade your main personas. Keep personas that cover every type of damage and complements your party's skills. That said it's also possible to use just one persona and keep leveling it. Persona fusion, upgrades etc will unlock as the story progresses. I usually keep multiple personas upgraded to be ready for any kind of situation.
B. Confidants are very important. They give you bonuses as you level them up. Each confidant has a different kind of bonus and ability both in and out of combat. I'd recommend that you max out most of them. It also helps that you keep at least one persona that matches a confidant's arcana on you, it will help you raise them faster.
C. Once you're in a palace/dungeon, time stops. It won't progress until you decide to go out or finish the palace. Now here's how I'd recommend doing palaces. Try to do them in the least amount of days possible. Normally you'll have to go into a palace at least twice. I'd suggest doing palaces as soon as they unlock. That way you are free to do whatever you want with the rest of the days until the deadline. Managing you time and spending time on things that are worth doing is a huge part of the game.
The ideal situation is - start a story mission - finish palace in two days at max - get rest of the days free. The only exception is the second palace which takes at least 3 days.
Another note on time....
This game is turn based even when it comes to time management. Every day is divided into morning, afternoon and evening. Mornings are automatically taken by school but you'll generally have afternoons and evenings free. Basically the only things that will cause time to pass are:
- Spending time with a confidant takes a slot (afternoon, evening etc).
- Doing an activity like studying, working, reading, crafting, watching a movie etc will take a time slot.
- Going to a palace/dungeon will take an afternoon slot and will also block you from doing anything in the evening (until you max out a certain confidant).
- Story events.
Running around exploring the town, riding on the train etc. will not cause time to pass.
Note that you're still in the part of the game where it hasn't fully "opened up". But it will, very soon.
Some other tips:
- Don't spend too much time on activities that raise your personal stats (Intelligence, Kindness, Guts etc.). They are important but some confidants give you free points in these as you spend time with them. Prioritize confidants over these and do these activities only if there's nothing else to do. That said, don't ignore them either as some confidants get blocked until you reach a certain rank in these stats.
- Go to the bathhouse only on Mondays and Thursdays for extra charm.
- Try and raise Takemi (doctor) to 7 ASAP, she will sell SP Regen accessories at a discount which are very important early on if you want to finish palaces quickly. SP is a major concern early to mid game as it will put a hard limit on how much time you can spend in a palace.
- The diner in Shibuya is the best option for studying, especially on rainy days.
- Keep books on you at all times, you never know when you'll get a seat in the train allowing you to sit and read and get extra points.

PC version was good for me right from the start. 1080p60fps. Apart from the fullscreen resolution issue (which could be easily circumvented using Borderless Gaming) I didn't face any issues. I don't think the game scales very well on lower-end machines though.
-
Meh it's 460 bucks on PC. I'm going to do a full A-E run again so will be playing the DLC then.
-
Apparently there's a surprise ending (in typical Taro fashion) after you finish all the trials.
-
This or Nioh DLC? Hmmm...
Maybe both.
EDIT: bought

I am liking the graphics and the epic scale of the game, heres hoping I will be able to finish this (atleast one of the endings)
PPS: Any idea how much time does it take on an avg to finish all 5 endings?
Took me around 40 hours to get all the main endings (A-E).
If I had to break it down:
- 15 hours for A
- 13 hours for B
- 10 hours for C
- D and E are quick as you only need to reload saves and play through the ending again
Also I did around 88% of the side quests.
I highly suggest that you don't stop after Ending A. That's like 1/3rd of the game. The story won't make any sense and you'll lose out on some really cool/epic stuff.

Persona 5

Yeah Kawakami's abilities are the most useful for getting the most out of your time. Even the classroom slacking/laundry/coffee/crafting unlocks are very useful in saving time. Creepy implications aside she's the best Confidant in terms of utility.
Mishima's XP unlocks are great but he's a loser lol. Ending spoiler...
That scene of him handing out flyers claiming the MC is his "best friend"... WTF dude! what made you think that?
