  1. Congratulations to Storm Shadow.

    But....

I personally feel that the new Samsung Series 6 and Series 7 Edge-Lit LED displays are really overrated. Apart from the super-thin design, the giganormous price simply does not and cannot justify the cost. From what I've seen and read, edge-lit LEDs have actually proven to being inferior to their CCFL counterparts when it comes to actually PQ. Agreed that the backlight bleeding problem can be totally eliminated with an edge-Lit LED display, but that only gives way to fresh QC issues such as flash-lighting and clouding. Check out a few forums/communities such as AV or AVS and read about all the problems people have been facing with their Samsung edge-Lit displays and you will be shocked. Most of the members actually went on to replace their edge-lit LED sets with the new Sasmung B750 CCFL display, which according to a lot of people and critics is one of the best displays out there in terms of PQ, affordability, and feature set.

The new 8500 model from Samsung features local dimming and is said to deliver great results, almost comparable to the legendary Samsung A950. Now, that's one TV to look out for.

    Just my 2 cents.

  2. Of these which one would be better?

    Freedom 1699 (Airtel/KL/FL/27)

    Turbo 1299 (Airtel/KL/FL/26)

    Explorer 1099 (Airtel/KL/FL/25)

FUP..and total data downloadable and all...

How much can a 1 Mbps connection download in a month??

The plan choice clearly depends on your usage. For the real bang for buck value, I would recommend the Turbo 1299 because of the 512 kbps day and 1 mbps night speed feature.

In case you're a heavy downloader, you can either opt for Freedom 2499 2mbps Unlimited{with Craptel's FUP} or the Freedom 1699 1mbps Unlimited{not sure about the FUP status}.

With a 1 mbps line, you can download almost 12 gigs a day, which comes to around 360 gigs in a single month.

got upgraded on Saturday. only the download speed has changed - upload speed is still 0.5 mbps which is what i was getting with 1mbps connection. why?

Actually, I've seen a few other result uploads at the Broadband Forum from people using the same plan and getting an upload speed of around 900 kbps.

I wonder why is that though.

Would probably have to call up CC in a day or two.

It's been two days since they upgraded my old plan to this lovely piece of awesome sh*t.

270 kbps avg. download speed on Newsleecher.

Oh and it usually takes them 5 working days to upgrade an existing plan, from what I know of.

Recommendation to those still waiting - write a mail to the Nodal Officer, as that's what did it for me.

    Good luck to you guys.

  5. DiNovo Mini :chair:

You know what, that's exactly how I felt when I started using the touchpad. IMHO, a trackball would have been much better, but a couple of things that intrigued me were the size of the thing, BT connectivity, and the keyboard.

The touchpad is not that bad, but it simply cannot match the feel and functionality of a standard notebook touchpad.

  6. My "HAUL" for the week.

Right in time for my new HTPC build.

The Logitech Dinovo Mini ; awesome keyboard, not so awesome touchpad, fantastic design, fully backlit, BT seamless connectivity with other devices, sleek/compact and super-sexy, great battery life, a very capable media center remote, works rather well with the PS3, a good HTPC solution for lazy slack-asses such as myself.

A couple of Belkin Surge Protectors to safeguard my purchases.

Oh and by the way, The IT Depot is just amazing. They offered me the best price for the stuff, even better than those usual Nehru Place dugouts. The packaging was excellent and everything was speed-posted to my address within two days. I even tried their LIVE ONLINE SUPPORT service to sort out an issue regarding the invoice and it actually turned out to be a very cool and ultra-convenient experience. The guy I chatted with not only managed to rectify the issue within in a couple of minutes of notice, but also obliged to call me just to make sure everything was fine and dandy. I guess I've found my New-Egg.

Watch this space for my next unveiling ; the Samsung Series 7 LA40B750 - said to be the best CCFL LCD TV money can buy, even better than the Sony XBR9, offering a much better PQ than the newly released edge-lit LCDs themselves.

  7. just wanted to ask some q's. the arcade that we are getting here, are they jaspers? also do these have hdmi & lastly what is the mrp & how much discount can one expect.

I believe they are Jaspers and all of them do have HDMI.

The set MRP is Rs. 16,990(I may be wrong).

The volume or the exact amount of discount would probably vary from place to place.

A friend of mine got a discount of 2K in Delhi from Chroma on an Arcade, so expect to get atleast 1000 bucks off, if not more.
