    The part where Dustin encounters Dart in the tunnels and feeds him who then let's them pass. First of all how was Dustin sure it was Dart apart from the fact that it didn't immediately attack? It could have been another random demo-dog. That whole scene was like that Prometheus stupid scientist moment but I just remembered that there was a part earlier where Dustin got "sprayed" by one of the organic plant-like things in the tunnels. He said he was alright and that it didn't enter his mouth, but maybe it did and now he's infected with some Upside Down stuff. It's possible that the Mind Flayer sensed that and let them pass (the creatures are a hive mind).

     

    Now earlier Hopper also got sprayed by that stuff but then the lab guys cleaned him up later, so he seems to be safe. Remember he was also puking right after that, but the stuff is probably out of his system. If all of this is true then Dustin might become the Mind Flayer's connection in Season 3. I can't see any other reason for the spraying stuff to have two prominent moments when it didn't actually lead to anything.

    Dart has got this landmark patch/color on his a*s or something like that, and when they encounter in that scene, he notices that, that's how he comes to know it's Dart
