So basically Dabangg with Akshay in it. I'm surprised he took so long to go back to action. Nowadays it seems all the action movies are becoming blockbusters again

Gone back to stock launcher on my GNex. Maybe i am being nitpicky and have an old mentality of launchers of 2.12/2.2 era which slowed phones down but I felt a slight, mind u slight, slowdown in animations and speed. I miss the cube transition effect otherwise I didn't do much so i never modified it a lot.
That said, i'm the last one to modify anything as i dont get any fun out of it. My main home screen is just folders of apps in various categories and a quick toggle app. Thats it.
-
K i bought Nova too. Whats the benefit compared to stock JB launcher? That cube effect when swiping through homescreens? Then?

Homeland's back!!!

Layar?
Also, Nexus is 20k. if u have someone in Dubai, 14k. Nothing can even come close

Choose make offline, zoom out, make sure your entire city fits in the square. Boom. That's it

I have already bought all the damn apps on sale. Most of the ones I want, i already have. rest are crap
I know this is heights of first world problems though.

Hmm..will give it another shot!!
Does it consume lot of battery?
Also, I'm on GS3, so when I tell it to turn off wifi , it says the device isn't supported yet.
S-Voice does it though.
I bet it's not the same with GSNexus?
And I do travel to the same place but not as regular timings

It does recognize my Home and Office address perfectly , but how will it know which appoints are Office related and which are personal.
Suppose I have a task "Pickup milk" at 9 am, will it show me the "Estimated time to work" for 9 am or is it smart enough to detect that it's nothing to do with office

Also, when I ask it "When is my next appointment?", it Google searches instead of showing me the next appointment.
Maybe it is the Google Now build on your phone? Dunno U dont have official JB yet right. Honestly, no idea. Like gaurav said, any searches you made, it'll predict if some searches are relevant and automatically show them as a card. Desktop chrome or phone, wherever. Its prediction engine is sometimes too sensitive and picks up the irrelevant searches too. U have to manually remove it. I think initially it requires a bit of tweaking and polishing from you initially for it to learn what really matters to you. Over time it improves..I guess. Battery consumption is nothing relevant. The day i bought my nexus i used to get a full day use with no compromise. Still do.
Also, yeah it doesn't show me my appointments either if i ask how does my day look or whats my next appointment. in Some areas, Siri is a better AI engine and does more. G.Now's USP is its predictive algorithms.
I hope that was not directed towards me.
no no. of course not!
And yes dominos! Come on! Pizza hut puts much lesser toppings. But maybe my case is purely anecdotal so I can see why u look shocked.

Way to be a retard bro. No wonder some guy calls you an Apple selu cos you're anticipating someone to call you out all the time the minute you talk about Android or iOS.
I left to have a bath with the browser open on the Android thread this morning after seeing that map thing.

Yes, the times displayed by Google Now / Maps are pretty accurate here. Traffic data is available for most major routes here so it's much more accurate at predicting times, but I don't think it's of any use beyond just navigating to the correct location in India (and that's the only thing I've used it for in India).
Yeah, because I like Apple I am an Apple selu. I also like Dominos and dislike Pizza hut so I am a dominos selu. I also like Toyota and dislike Honda. Yep selu of that too. Pffft!! Relax and learn to take a joke. Its phones and we are discussing, lot of it revolves around choice. There is no need to make childish derogatory remarks when the conversation was largely civil. Anyway, screw it. Not that I care what you say, least of all that fandroid numbskull who only trolls the apple thread.
I just can't make Google Now work.
I've given my Home address, Work address.
But it never prompts me to leave home at certain time.
Do I have to keep GPS on all the time?
When I do open Google now, it tells me it'll take xyz minutes to reach office. But sometimes it even tells it in Afternoon

And whenever I'm near home, it keeps on suggesting restaurants near my home. Every day.
Actually, after a week of use, Google now accurately zeroed in on my home address and work address. It probably sees that every morning I travel to one place and evening I am back to where i left from in the morning. After 2-3 days it asked me if this your home address and is this your office address. Then next day on, every morning it automatically shows me the route and time required to reach work (Which i completely ignore as its wrong).
Basically I had to do nothing for all this to happen. But i did enter my preferred premier league teams whose updates i wanted. If i do search for a flight and look up traffic to the airport, then Google Now automatically shows the card showing the flight details for the flight no i searched (this is assuming i start moving towards the airport). Its fairly intelligent in deciding when and where to show what. Strong assumption based on recent history and your location data is what G.Now needs.
Also no GPS required. It uses wifi/cell towers to figure out where I am. GPS is only required for navigation. No other task, even zeroing in on your location requires it.
If u travel to a different place daily or dont have a fixed place to go daily then it might find it difficult to predict. But wait, u manually entered the address so I'm not sure why it isnt working. Sometimes maybe the address u entered is not something maps can recognize. I accepted the weird address Google showed me, since thats how it recognized where I am. What Google now showed me is not something i'd write on a postcard or tell someone though.

^^

I was a little skeptical about the traffic because of the obvious condition of traffic in the metro cities. However, from what I've used, Google Now has given me decent info regarding the estimated time to destination. I haven't used it for real-life traffic situations though.
No no, Google now times are all wrong. It has proper live traffic data, but no idea why it calculates time requires so wrong. Places where I need at least 1.5 hours to reach google now suggests 38 mins after considering live traffic data. Google has very true real life algorithms for many things but this is something i can never trust. THis one time, for a meeting I had to go to a hotel, it was when i just 2-3 kms away from the hotel did G.Now suggest me to leave. This is after i travelled 7-8 kms already.
This estimation of time probably works well in America n all i guess

Hasn't anyone watched Revolution here. To me, it seems to be this year's Terra Nova. Big on hype and noise. Will get cancelled come December.
Saw the pilot though. Decent. But again, its deja vu. Terra Nova also began the same way. Big mysteries as to how and why. Cancelled before they got a chance to explain

Also Looks like Gaurav is preparing a massive reply for me

I'd advise you Gaurav dont waste energy typing up a massive post. I'm not interested in another iOS vs Android debate. I wasn't even debating that hence i chose to stop arguing with iHoneyBadger. Pointless no?
-
Wow! Thanks, I had no idea! Well try some stuff. BTW, has the traffic info been useful for you? I ask because I haven't used it much.
Oh looks like I am not the last one on earth to find this out

Well, yea, 90% of the times its helped (Sometimes its been wrong as I chose to go on a green road but that road had terrible traffic)
But the point is, in the mornings and in the evenings when is the time most people travel (to work or back home), everyone knows which roads have traffic and which dont. So if u do search for live traffic, u'll only find out what you already know. But the real use is when u heading out to some place not in your regular schedule and you want to map out the route before you head out. I use it always if i'm heading out somewhere I dont regularly go.
Traffic is reliable mostly though. But if its a city you are familiar with, you'll already know which roads to avoid. Maybe I'm just a luddite when it comes to navigation but to me, i find it weird people use it on a daily basis to go to places they already know.
I dont use Navigation though because in heavy traffic my mind cant concentrate on what the lady says and the honking and noise
Lol, weird how CP is not the circle and also includes some portions here and there.
-
For Maps users, I dont know if everyone knows, but if u just search for a place in maps, it highlights the boundaries of the area, for areas whose boundaries are not clearly defined I just found that out a week back. For example, Dadar

This is just amazing. Maps never fails to amaze! Sorry if this is common knowledge.

I dont care about his opinions about which OS is smarter or better. He's entitled to have his views and clearly he has an audience that laps it up. But I dont get why he's bringing up fragmentation when, as you yourself say, fragmentation is actually not even the point of the video (as he goes back to his usual Android vs iOS blah blah). Which is why I said he doesn't get fragmentation.
Online forums people argue for no reason that I have latest OS and U have 2 year old OS etc etc or that JB is still hardly running on android phones etc. That is just BS and online "My E-Peen is bigger than yours" stupidity.
Normal folks wont care that phone does not have ICS or JB. The issue is, u see temple run's facebook page and see comments of "Damn u my ABC phone cannot run this game. what the hell" etc etc. That is something devs need to tackle. Essentially boils down to which devs are more thorough, which care to be thorough. Some might not, if it takes lot of time to support so many configs

The Castle premier was weird.
I mean, 4 seasons of build up and boom, the whole beckett's mom mytery is solved in 1 episode itself. And somehow feels like that story is tied up as both seemed to have reached a peace treaty. Meanwhile, GO BECKETT!!! Shocking to see her change from someone who seemed so socially inept and uncaring into an animal lol.
Big bang was nice.. I mean, usual stuff. I'll still watch it as it doesn't get boring. Also seems like Sheldon has put on weight. Looks quite big.
Modern family was good too

^As usual that fellow keeps spouting off crap. He doesn't even understand what is fragmentation. But i'll just copy paste two comments below the video
You're getting Fragmentation wrong. Android fragmentation is not a fragmentation of features, but a fragmentation of platform where developers have hell to develop for different OS, very different screen size, very different processors etc. The list goes on. Its not about features where "turn by turn is available here and not there" etc etc.
You don't understand, Fragmentation concerns DEVELOPERS, not users. But you will never understand what a bitch it is to constantly fix your app because Android is a mess. And i'm not talking just about screen resolution, ratios, available ram and CPU power. It's the constant battle with features that Android phones claim to have/support but in real life they are either missing or poorly supported.
Point is, the 4 can still run apps designed for iOS6, but a gingerbread phone cannot. Heck, more iOS users can run chrome browser on their phones and tablets today than android users themselves
Yeah nice how he didnt mention thisAnyway, not like this matters in real life anymore except at times when apps are released and your phone isn't supported. I remember when temple run was released and the SGS3 ..or was it 2 wasn't supported initially. That, is a real life issue. Not online mudslinging most of which is crap

Galaxy nexus selling for 1000 AED in Dubai right now. Ridiculously awesome price. Anyone in Dubai check it out at Gitex, or ask someone else to. That price is 14.3k INR. Some freebies too with that. 1 of my friend who was looking to pickup the SGS3 there picked this instead. I'd say wise decision
-
So whose getting Note 2....
-
-
^No idea. they might do a staggered rollout to see if there is any issues with it and test and correct further. Good strategy i guess.
-
Cool. Poland only for now. India might get it in October. I wish they release phones with JB out of the box by then, but i doubt that'll happen. And good they skipped ICS. I think eventually this is what makers will do. They might skip OS versions completely when they get too far behind.
-
^Is it OTA? do u need to connect to the PC? I had held off my friends from buying the SGS3 till it got Jellybean. Why do u need kies?
-
Lord! why the hell do u guys care what others buy. Holy sh*t
Abbey lene do na jo lena hain, even if **according to you enlightened android users** its an ignorant choice. Who cares. Is it your money? No. Are they happy? Yes. Are they happy with the service the company provides them? Yes. Live and Live live ka naam toh suna hi nahi hain. Its like android fans feel angry and violated others buy iOS or WP. I mean what the *bleep*? Android is no God of operating systems please!Anyway, Samsung by all means can do whatever ads it needs to do. Apple has probably sold 8 million phones without even releasing an ad yet. So yea, goes to speak about brand power, something samsung or any other company can never have. And why? because such brand power is earned and built over time.
