Micromax has been putting out some really high specced phones at cheap prices now. But I don't know how they are doing. It's weird, there is hardly any information on how smartphone players are doing in India. I suspect Samsung to lead here too, but I feel Micromax might be second instead of Nokia. Them blackberry, Sony htc probably follow.
@aman, I think it's preparation for Note 2 to take the sgs3's place as flagship. Probably might arrive in India October mei? Sgs3 official price is 35k now

@gaurav omg. Relax! I'm just mocking Samsung for the stupidity of this chart. The features that they so nicely highlight are things no one understands. Which is my point. But feel free to make it another typical iOS android argument. 790 hours standby time and s voice is hilarious though

@Gaurav, I am not sure which is more relevant, raw specs comparison of two completely different OSes wit different usage and power requirements? or real world stuff which is comparable? That said, not arguing that the S3 is bad. Samsung, as will every other company, inc Apple, which releases comparison sheets, will pick and choose the positives and negatives and gloss over other things. Its a nice marketing tactic, incite the peopel online lol. Which i'll fully commend samsung for achieving. Good or bad, people atleast talk about Samsung now.
@sackboy, apple didnt mention anything, the apple "reply" is a cheeky fanmade reply to samsung's ad. Apple will respond when it reports weekend preorder figures tomm or Tuesday to shut samsung up

Erm. Okay. He is using an iphone for 2.5 years. I dont think he needs your clearly uneducated and 2007'ish opinion about how closed or open or good/bad or worth the hype it is since he very well knows how it is. And dont tell me "believe me" I've been using iOS and android since 2008. Anyway, why are you arguing with me :S..and making this an android vs iOS argument? I dont give 2 hoots about android and think its utter sh*t. But i dont go on beating my chest and need to justify it to everyone. Use what works for u. Stop judging people who choose otherwise
And yes, go read indian tech websites if u want to see how Apple is going to price the iP5 differently this time. No airtel aircel in the middle.
I can also see how ignorant you are when you say Apple releases iPhones in feb. the 4S was released in November last year. the 3GS and 4 launched in march and April in their respective lifecycles

S3 is a great phone. Worth buying. If u aren't invested in iOS apps much then u can go buy the S3. iPhone 5 wont be as big as the S3. At max 4-4.1" screen, but i dont view screen size as a disadvantage. OS they're both good. I still think apps are much better and well made on iOS, but yes I also think Android has better notifications and is more flexible. If you are looking for a change, go with S3, if familiarity matters, go with iP5. iP4S today is bloody fast already and very speedy. iP5 will be even more.
iP5 will launch in Diwali and will be cheaper (not much, expect 38-40k) this year since Airtel isn't launching it, Apple is themselves so they will price it accd to how they priced the iPad here.

Great work releasing navigation in India. Useful if u visit new cities.
Somehow think all navigation stuff in india is useless. In heavy traffic i find it distracting, and lot of roads there whose actual names we dont know but know physically what road it is. But still its great for travelling to a new place i suppose. Maybe I am just old fashioned, i find asking someone on the road faster and quicker

^Yep. And I agree with OEMs. U dont want the normal people getting confused like your friend did. Change just for the sake of it is stupid. Especially on something as heavily used as a phone OS. Of course we guys here on IVG wouldn't mind some nifty changes but its where android helps wherein u can modify the look if u want.
Windows though is treading on thin ice come October. Either they have a roaring success, or they massively fail in their approach. Even geeks are taking time to adjust and understand the underpinnings on W8. I shudder to think how the avg folk will see it

^It just goes on to show how important familiarity is to more than 90% of your customer base. U dont want to change the look all the time. its one reason why OEMs skin android and retain their own look. Look at Samsung, or HTC. They dont sell android as much as they sell their own experiences like touchwiz and Sense which look largely same, atleast touchwiz. Even on JB touchwiz looks exactly the same.

Samsung is a sad company. They make great components, great TVs (some might disagree). Everythng is just follows the "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks strategy". This is just another episode in the long running scumbagsamsung series. They get sympathy only here online. Meanwhile on the street, its like samsung has an image of a copycat now.
Sincerely hope HTC or Sony get a chance to do the next Nexus and I want to see HTC revived. They do skins but they do really nice useful stuff with the Android modifications. HTC just needs to sort out its hardware issues. the One X series faced a lot of initial run glitches with wifi n bluetooth and the body chipping off etc. Need to be more vigilant about it

Lol, get it. eBay was running a super offer. Alfa Mumbai sells for 22k. for 22k, i'd reco this over any goddamn android phone.
But if u can afford more, get the S3 which will get Jellybean. Fact is nexus camera is the sucketh in low light. If u want a great camera, get a galaxy series phone or htc one

When i saw those videos with the alien dancing I knew thiis is going to be another epic disaster for Akshay. He should really stick to doing trash like housefull that atleast earns the producers some profits. The days of akshay doing decent movies is long gone. Nowadays its all the small movies that impress me.

Samsung has now,effectively moved to a six month flagship timeline. March April galaxy Sx and September-October Note. Serves them well, they avoid the iPhone rush in October as a note buyer and iPhone buyer will mostly be people looking for different things.
HTC really needs to step up now. Say what u will about Samsung but even though their products aren't loads better than the competition, they spend more than anyone in marketing their product. In a market where so many android OEMs are competing for mindshare and shelf space, spending loads on marketing is key. Samsung is all over the place. Olympics sponsor, signing up celebs like beckham and sharapova, Tv, newspapers, Facebook, twitter everywhere they've paid top dollar to get best visibility. HTC sadly is nowhere to be seen. HTC doesn't have a strong brand following so in fact it should be doing more,than Samsung to market its stuff but maybe they can't afford it. And hence they lose more money.
Meanwhile the rest like Sony LG are content with flooding the market with phones that all look and sound same and confuse people even more. No,wonder they are in the gutter.
