D3000 is an excellent cam. if you are a beginner, dont worry, the cam will serve u well for a long time. U can easily upgrade it later on.
In other news, The powershot G11 has been given to my sister, and I have got this

Got it for a killer price of 35k with kit lens. Finally after a long time I took the plunge. I was on the fence for a long time coz I already had the powershot G11 which is quite a stonker itself, but my sister was wanting a decent powerful PnS, I took the opportunity then and gave mine to her, giving my conscience a perfect excuse

Finally took the plunge. From a powershot G11 to this
. Canon EOS 550D.
Damages: 35k
Picked up a 16gb class 6 sdhc, a UV filter too. Will get a tamrac bag this weekend

@Neo Acha. coz the lens i'm talking about is probably just 100 dollars (for canon yes and 99% for Nikon too. Search for nikkor 50mm f1.8)
Its a must have lens for low light photography/portraits and its cost is hardly anything so its worth a buy even if its the first SLR simply coz its dead cheap. I would also suggest the 55-200mm f4-5.6 lens but that can wait.
@AL 35k with kit lens, 4GB card etc, which is why its such an attractive price. It used to be 43-44k with the kit lens before AFAIK. At this price, the 550D is an absolute no brainer over any other SLR. Of course, nikon fans would tilt towards the D5000, but to each their own.
Heck, the 1100D launching at 32k is also a fail when at 3k more u get a faster and better built cam.

Nice buy Neo. Tell her to get a 50mm f1.8 too. Would be a useful in addition to the kit lens.
@Anshul
Completely agree. 600D is a fricking ripoff at 50k. Luckily the 550D has fallen to 35-36k which makes it a tempting buy at that budget. The articulating screen of the 600D is nice, but doesn't justify the huge bump. Rest of the fluff touted as features are all best done using any photo editor. At a budget of 50k, the Nikon D90 is the camera to get, if video isn't imp.

Reaper, try Ultimate rom v8.0 by webstar, or Darky's ROM ver9.3. Both are quite good. This is the forum link where u can find threads for them. But if you are on stock rom now, you will have to install rom manager from android market and flash Clockworkmod for Galaxy S aka i9000 before you can install the rom.

^Yes one developer with a nondescript game says a few flameworthy and it becomes news fodder for all the usual blogs and people start proclaiming the downfall of the iOS appstore. Have u seen how money small time devs have made off the appstore? And what majority of the other smalltime devs and big studios have to say when it comes to making money? 83% of paid app share belongs to iOS, so its pretty clear which platform will give u good returns now.

I'm running a custom rom too (DocRambone's to be specific). Its buttery smooth for a few days, then the lag again comes back as usual. But if you like all this meddling around with different OS'es, then u can go ahead and get the SGS. The out of box experience for me was as though it was running a 166 mhz proccy with 64 mb ram. I dont like meddling, but due to the shitty out of box experience, I was forced to put in custom roms
I would still suggest an HTC device though. Or the Nexus S if u can procure it as it will give u the best performance. Otherwise its your call as long as u r satisfied.
-
Samsung galaxy s?
Fail phone. Stick to HTC if you are buying a 20k+ device. U dont want me to start with the shitty experience I've had on this. -
^Ah right. Makes sense!
-
Ya what exactly did u fix
Snake was saying the same thing! -

I'm sure many must have seen this video. But i seriously go ROFL whenever i see this. The dubbing is ultimate! And the umpire in the end

Please note. its NSFW with sound on. Otherwise its fine.

Anyway, will await the next revision and custom rom

In other LOLworthy news, you cant even view the Motorola Xoom website on Xoom itself

So much for the hoopla around "flash" Why do these companies releases WIP devices into the market

Not to mention that you have to send in your device to Motorola for 6 days to activate the 4G. Oh dear god

Why do these guys even bother? Wasn't this supposed to be the "flagship" Honeycomb tablet?

Lesson learnt.

^Touch responsiveness is a personal opinion I believe. Its very much tied with scrolling and general animations involved after touching on some icon or whatever. And this is where even Anandtech reports of the choppiness of the browser and scrolling in the OS in general. See, point is simple, you can cram as many features as you like in the device. But you gotta perfect the user experience before you attempt anything else. I am from that school of thought.
-
Yeah. Inspite of the wow hardware, reviewers state choppiness while scrolling and a lot of bugs (which should get ironed out though). The choppiness and inconsistent UI alone is a bummer for me and my biggest gripe with android. Plus display is lacklustre. Battery is quite good though. Comparable to ipads benchmark figures. As usual, ticking off a checklist donot make for a better experience
I think everyone will be waiting for Mar 2 though. Apple had to rain on Motos parade

7 Khoon Maaf - Liked it. Good performances all around from the cast. Nice ominous atmosphere throughout and a totally unexpected ending (which I really liked btw). And kudos to PC for letting them make her look like total crap by the end of the movie. However I have one major complaint - for a film that tries to be different from the usual Bollywood stuff Vishal Bhardwaj screwed up on the minor details. Why can't Indian directors pay attention to detail? The movie is mostly a period piece and various events take place during the 70s and the 80s and there are various instances of things that simply couldn't have existed in that time period. How come John Abraham's character does an Axl Rose in the 70s(?) that too with modern musical equipment? And how does Smirnoff exist during what I presumed was the Cold War era? Normally I tend to ignore continuity and consistency errors but for a film that tries to be smart it's just inexcusable.
You know thats the weird part. They say she ages from 25-60 in the ads. But the actual movie starts in 1984-83. If u remember, neil nitin mukesh was lauded for his efforts in Operation Blue star, which was the military operation ordered by Indira Gandhi in 1984. and the last historical event mentioned was the 2008 terrorist attack which was being heard in the radio when Naseeruddin shah was coming in the car to her house. So I am assuming the story is from 1984-2010 adding the ending where she becomes a nun. Also she is shown as a small girl in the photo cica 1964. With this timeline in mind, J. Abraham's character fits the timeline.

@Al Bro the 600D has released now. It is taking over the old price of the 550D i.e 47k (49,990 is the MRP). And the price of the 550D has fallen hence. the 600D's main USP is articulating lens but unless you are heavy into video it wudnt make a difference. The 550D thus got a hugee price cute. Along with me another person was also buying the same camera when he heard of the price cut. 35k is totally worth it. Although big retailers like Croma etc r selling at 37-38k, I would suggest getting it from a reputed small shop for best price.
@Anshul thanks bro. Brilliant lens
Can u list all the lens u own. I've seen ur flickr profile and u own a massive telephoto as shown in ur disp pic.
