Dude they launched Kinect in 2010 Do you have the financial reports of MS from 2006-2009. to show their R&D spend on it .
You are claiming MS spent over 10$ Bil on R&D on Kinect back in 06 to 09 - what on earth are you even smoking .. ( they spent 7.5 bil on Bethesda so much more should mean 10 bil easily )
You use numbers like they mean nothing .. with no accountability or facts given .
You couldn't talk about games or studios so you brought kinect In conversation .

On what basis are you calling them.risky ? Have you done the financial analysis - like how much MS paid per share or price to earnings ratio .

Also the only real investment MS during last gen was to acquire Minecraft and it's developer.
And they have allowed the studio continue to build and support the game till date .
By 2020 Minecraft has achieved cumulative sales of 200 mil and revenue of 3 Billion(when MS acquired it in 2014 it had sales of 50 mil and revenue around 900 mil )
Even today game shows no sign of slowing down and has over 100 mil active users

MS didn't spend on anything towards end of X360 era / start of xbox one .
Their focus was making xbox a complete entertainment system which backfired while Sony invested in quality studios and making great games .
Yes after a decade they have invested billions in studios . But you don't have the financial or the business acumen to call them risky investments .
Leave that to the ones investing billions who actually have to answer to stakeholders about their decisions unlike you who can say anything he wants without having any facts to back up the claim

Why wait for release - PS exclusives are miles ahead of MS current and potential exclusives. Again common knowledge .

Only thing I can say for a fact is Xbox one was hated here on IVG .And now a lot of people have bought Xbox series S/X here . And all of these will buy or have already bought PS5 . MS must have done something right to get all these people to buy their consoles ( Gamepass and acquisitions of studios to make high quality exclusives )
Globally too Xbox series S/X have been selling well ( yes not as much as PS) but the numbers are good .
Numbers speak for themselves . Opinions don't .

Sure . But it wouldn't have risen that much to make it "close to PS4" .
Now of course PS4 released 4 years earlier than Nintendo so it will have a huge lead.
The only reason Nintendo caught up with Xbox one is because Xbox one failed miserably . PS4 was a success hence it's lead would have increased only with time .
