  1. Its been only 10 days since i assembled this PC. I too am Clueless. I have tried everything. Cleaning the fan and everything. The speeds go up to about 3800 RPM now on prolonged usage but not up to the previous mark. What can i do now? Can you sugegst me a good Fan+Heatsink combo?

    Thanks,

    Sriram

Give Thermalright TRUE Black 120 a shot. Not sure how much it costs here in India, but thats one of the best after market air coolers around (IMHO). Check Techenclave under the dealers section, there should be atleast one dealer who's selling it here.

But the bottom line is that im not sure whats wrong with your current cooler. It just seems like one of those defected chips thats being used or something (China Rules!). Meh ~ ~

  2. ^ ^ Define Before and Now. How many days was it when you say "before" compared to "now"?

My assumption is that the fan is dirty, however if you just got the PC last month and then this month its showing all these symptoms, then im clueless. Just remove the processor + Heatsink. Wash the Heatsink and clean the fins on the fan. Use an hair dryer to dry the Heatsink, relap the thermal compound and then put everything back to where it belongs.

Once again, only do this as a last resort. Im not sure whats going on with your computer, maybe just get a better heatsink+fan ~ ~

  3. ^ ^ i have a retarded way of explaining 1 + 1 = 2. Hence my compare and contrast, is very very bad. All i remember about

Bombay :- hindu guy and a pretty muslim gal fall in love, and it creates a war in bombay...

Delhi 6:- a monkey creates a war in delhi, in which a hlaf muslim boy and a pretty hindu girl fall in love ...

war + love + hindu + muslim = SAME MOVIE DIFFERENT NAME! (just negate the monkey for arguments sake...=p )

There, i did warn you im retarded.

  4. Saw Delhi -6 today. My hindi is non existent. So, i wasnt sure what the hell was going on, tho i kept getting a running commentry.

Its just mediocre. But i changed my ring tone to that 1 minute trailer song. =)

And i dont know about you guys, but its funny, that there was a similar movie a long time back called Bombay ... now Delhi , im wondering when Bangalore, Madras, and <insert City name> comes about muslims and hindu's falling in love.

One Word :- AWESOME. I know its a old movie, but please watch it... its really good.

P.S:- Regarding my earlier posting... lets just say that my encounters over the span of 2 weeks (back), has totally put a new prespective on females here in india.

  6. ^ ^ Understood. If thats the case then please dont miss out on the LCD TV option. The downside is that the pixels look quite big, and the resolution is capped at 1360 x 720. And it will take some getting used to.

The important thing to remember is that your getting an 26 inch IPS for a pretty decent price + the option of hooking your xbox / ps3 / ps2 and isolating it as one spot. But check showrooms first, i know a lot of friends who just hate LCD TV + Computer hook ups.

Apart from that, i think you are all set for the Dell IPS panel, its got good reviews backing it up, hate the steep price tho =P

  7. ^ ^ Yes! Go for it! Slightly above response times then TN panels, but its well worth it. However :-

It actually comes down to your usage. The biggest advantage in my opinion (after all the color differences and so on) are the viewing angles. If you use your computer at one specific spot and dont move from that spot to view the monitor, then any TN panel would do. But if your like me, who games while lying down, or just watches a documentry to fall asleep, then the IPS panels wide angles plays an important role.

I abandoned the entire idea of an 1080p + IPS + monitor idea (too expensive + screen size too small to notice any diff), and just went ahead and got a 26inch 720p LCD TV... All LCD TV's are S-IPS/S-PVA/MVA panels.

  8. ^ ^ Google that bit, you'll have to download the debug tools, its not that much of an headache, but trust me, if you develop this one "skill", it will make it worthwhile since you will understand how to isolate / specify whats going wrong.

P.S :- Depending on the type of BSOD / Report, next step would be to insert another Graphic Card into your system, and then run a memtest on your ram to check for errors. The memtest will last appox 1-6 hours. The longer the time, the more accurate / higher rate of confidence in the results.

    Oh yea :-

    1) Did you recently change any software / hardware configs?

    2) Did you experience all of this after a recent event? I.E Power outage...HDD makin funny noises...

Those are some of the questions that i can think of, if you want to proceed without the BSOD report. . .

  9. ^ ^

    Follow Up:-

Remove the RAM , Graphic Card (If its not a onboard solution), use an eraser and clean the connectors.

IF your using XP, then make sure error reporting is turned on, and post the dump file here.

If the OS HANGS, without a blue screen, it could mean that there's an hardware fault somewhere (HDD/RAM/GPU) and something that POST wasnt able to detect.

  10. ^ ^ Source for the E8400 for ~7K please?

@Devil angel, since you are saying that your upgrading your computer, it is likely that you have a PC which is inclined to an AMD Processor, go for the AMD Phenom 9650 - Quad Core PRICE : 8146/- VJ, at the dealers section is selling it at that price (inc shipping).

Increase your budget for the graphic card by a lil and go for the 9800GT / 4850. Buy these cards and you wont regret it (8K / 9K respectively).

  11. ^ ^ Agreed. 2 ways you look at it really.

    1) Spend 10K and get a new proccy (Heres a linky for all CPUS thats supported by your MB) (hope i got it right)

    2) Optimize the existing one for no cost (Source)

How you go aboot it, is user specific. All im trying to get at is, just spend as little as possible for now. Save the moolah for x55's. =)

    OT:

Furthermore, im totally clueless how PCIE C on i7's will influence benchmarks, and how would the base bus speeds be incoperated within it? Not forgetting PCIE 3.0 and how would intel incoperate those controllers on to the chips, would they be included with the 32 nm?

Either ways, i got another 8 days left till i get my hands on that i7, im getting it for free, so no worries ~ ~

  12. ^ ^OK let me reiterate if you missed my points :-

In regards to gaming getting the I7 is only worth it (in relation to the price/perf), if your planning on SLI or CF. If you aint, skip it.

CPU bottleneck is non existent with CF / SLi in I7. And just wait around, all these articles should be eating their words, when Hydra gets incorp'd into MB's. Its a fishy tech i agree, but im optimistic about it.

    EMPHASIS :- SLI / CF

@LA, Just OC the core 2 duo, to atleast 2+ GHZ, that should clear the bottleneck for the new video card you are getting. And the raid setup will boost load times. The RAM will help in overall OC potential. This is the cheapest solution that i can think of. If you want to spend 20K for a new CPU and a new GPU, im just worried about your future upgrade options, how long do you reckon that will last?

  13. Current configuration is :

    Intel C2D E6300 @ 1.8Ghz

    1GB Ram

    ASUS P5B Vanilla Mobo [ Intel P965 Chipset ]

    Asus Nvidia 7300GS

    LG DVD Writer

    1 x 250GB SATA HDD

    3 x 500GB SATA HDD

    1 x 160GB PATA HDD

Its got an iBall Case with a cheap Intex PSU

Pimp up the CPU mHz. 500GBx2 in RAID. ATI 4850 / 9800GT. GSkill PI black 800MHZ 2GB. Total Cost = 11K

    Optional :- A new PSU. 3.5K

    Come Sept, get the I7.
