  1. I dont get this. Whats the point of making a new MP game when all the maps are from the old games? And the game is still running the same engine.

I know they are trying to push CS on consoles (which is still a LOLworthy idea BTW and destined to find a small community at best) but it would have been simpler just to port CS Source with some minor changes and sell that.

They said it's not CS 2. Check the video, looks pretty cool imo.

  2. And CSGO is downloadable, proper shooter with uber skilled players on PC, giving free PC copy is a perk but cross-play makes no sense at all.

Why doesn't it make sense? The emphasis is on the console version this time, not PC. PC version is a port.

They could add M/K support for PS3 like Epic did with UT3. Not a big deal.

    Genre: Shooter

Platforms: PSN and XBL... PC too.

    Release: Valve time

Next Gen Console, PC, and Mac Release Targeted for Early 2012

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO).

Targeted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched exactly 12 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999).

CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.

"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombardi at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."

CS: GO is being developed by Valve in cooperation with Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment. The title is targeted for release in early 2012 and will be playable at this year's PAX Prime and London Games Festival.

  4. The variety of magic available is astonishing as is the manner is which magic and weapons can be wielded. :majesty:

Yup. It's impressive that they managed to get that running on the X360. The streaming tech must be amazing.

But the animations are a bit stiff, hope they polish it up a bit.

  5. And this PSN fiasco has made me wary of putting the CC out there. :-/

Nothing will happen, it is encrypted anyway, and you can remove the card after you buy something.

  6. Not buying the game won't change their hearts, but it's gonna hurt PC gaming more; especially when there are more *profitable* platforms out here. This DRM thing didn't come out of nowhere, it slowly evolved over 10 years. Cause/Effect scenario you know.

  7. Well, it's either that or not releasing games on PC at all, like Rockstar. I guess they are testing this DRM for Diablo 3 because it's gonna end up on consoles as well

  8. do you honestly think they're running the login server on some second hand pentium 4 machine or something? between battle.net and world of warcraft, i'll bet you anything that blizzard are running some of the most sophisticated and complex distributed computing server farms on the planet. and in all these years they must have dealt with everything. there's no such thing as 100% secure but sh*t son, you're going to need more than 4chan script kiddies running a ddos to take down blizzard.

    I was just trolling. :spank:

  9. this is blizzard we're talking about, not sony.

they've been running world of warcraft for the past 7 years, they know a thing or two about network security.

Yeah, but they've never been ddosed before. Do you honestly think a puny login server can handle the low orbit ion cannon? :|

  10. But that should not stop you from playing the game :naughty: . I am sure anyone who has played Diablo 2 will play the game no matter what.

This is the sort of mentality that made SC2 the most pirated PC game of 2010. Also, giving subtle hints is so lame.
