I've tried to do some back of the envelope math on my own and it all comes down to xbox being able to retain a big subscriber base like Netflix which really depends on how well xcloud works.

But really, the psychological aspects of it can't be discussed through mathematics. Why would a game pass subscriber even buy games upfront unless they really really like them because the expectation is that every game will be on GP at some point and it's mostly true. And it's implications on the overall gaming market need to be understood. I think if GP and Sony's subscription are really good, there might come a point where releasing a game on their sub will be the only viable way to go and it could mean some types of games would just stop being made.

I mean, look at Spotify to understand how an industry is affected when you take away their primary source of revenue. Music industry fundamentally changed when people stopped buying records. I don't know how gaming industry will change when people just stop buying games. I know I have. I would normally spend 3k-5k a month on video games. It has now reduced to maybe 1k a month.

The article says that the analyst estimates that 50+ Million subscribers is a very good number for profitability and sustainability. Currently, it stands at around 18 Million. From the consoles, XSS is an affordable offering to drive the subscription numbers over the next 5-7 years. We can also consider PC and Android Gamepass subscriptions. Xbox head of marketing says that they are targeting 3 Billion gamers across the world. Achieving 50+ Million subscribers out of a potential target market market of 3 Billion gamers is feasible I would say.

“The thing is, Game Pass is such a bargain that some people are understandably worried it's too good to be true. When new, structural changes happen fast, people get a little uneasy, and when they also happen to be weirdly good value for money, they get very uneasy. The concern is that somewhere along the magic pipeline that runs from people making games to people playing them - from developers, to publishers, to platforms, to players - there has to be a catch.“

“For Game Pass Microsoft's costs are predominantly up front - like, say, the "over $100 million" Jim Ryan mentioned for developing a triple-A game, or the $7.5 billion Microsoft spent on acquiring developer-publisher titan ZeniMax Media - as opposed to being incurred each time another player subscribes. Those enormous sums then also shrink a little when put next to the amount of revenue Microsoft could actually earn from its subscribers. Some very rough napkin maths: if 18m people are on the cheapest, PC or console-only $9.99 a month plan, that works out at just under $180m a month, or $2.15bn a year, if they all stuck around.”

2k on like the Christmas/New Year sale on PSN.

I bought the disc. I can re-sell it and it would cost me 1000-1100 right now in total. And since it's a story based game, I won't be playing again. I played on the hardest difficulty to max out the experience in the 1st play-through itself

“Low” or “high” is depicted by the number of games out natively for the system as of today

& all the one’s that are out point towards the same

With the performance data of PS3 in its 1st year games, no one could dream that it’d achieve the last of us, uncharted 2 or god of war 3 by generation end

waiting for several games to come out is the best course of action

Absolutely. That sting when something crashes to 1/3rd price in just 2-3 months is terrible. I think more than anything the sheer limited size of the ps5 ssd will help me stay in check.

The last of us 2 launched in june at 4000. I bought in August at ~2580. I just checked Amazon, it’s still around 2500 even after 6 months of my purchase

You really believe Series S is capable of providing Full RT @ 60fps

it’ barely able to touch 1080p with any form of 60fps so far

obviously there is some sort of miscommunication

It will be PS5/SX which would end up 1080p RT @ 60fps

This is based on a very low number of games

you are telling me to skip a true next gen console with a true next gen controller and one of the best console launch lineup

Absolutely not! You should always buy what you enjoy the most.

BUT BEWARE! There are idiots on this forum who are trying their best to tell people what to do with their money :O Best to avoid such dum-dums ??

Kaise kar lete ho tum itna Hutiyapa. Laate kaha se ho yeh sab bakwas.

Hahaha, you only wrote bullsh*t but not answers to any of my concerns. So, there are indeed no answers. Good good

    justfy GP

    PS games cost 5000 each

GP costs 7500 for 3 years. That covers 100s of different games of many genres. And all people have backlog, so it makes sense.

Price itself justifies GP. As for the value of games in the library, it depends on person to person - what games you have already played. For most people, Gamepass proposition is a no brainer. I, for example, am just drowning in games that I haven’t played before or even thought of trying.

you are paying 5000 per game. There are too few PS5 exclusives right now. Whenever new PS games launch, you’ll have to pay 5000 day 1 because there are too few games to justify new PS5 console. Buying Day 1 games at 5000 per game without improvement patches and updates (which are always there) is such a bad idea.

Apart from that, there’s issues with day 1 PS5 controller like stick drift, loose springs, triggers getting issues etc.

Best to buy PS5 a few years later when a good amount of PS exclusives library is there, controller is improved after hardware bug fixes, game prices reduce to a sensible level and games get important performance patches.

I had played it back in the 360 era and tried it again on XSX after seeing that "leaving soon" message ;p

played the first section or so. my impressions - don't play Ninja Gaiden for visuals. Yes, it has got a visual style which holds up after all these years, but playing it just for that will disappoint. But if you like Ninja Gaiden style games, play it for the gameplay. Runs at absolutely buttery smooth 60 and allows for that pin-point precision that this game demands.

it's leaving today. how much did you finish? i completed exactly half the game and just deleted it 2 days ago - combat system is brilliant but trying to finish in 5-7 days is just maddening. will watch the rest of the game on youtube. team ninja is an excellent developer

  13. Was a new patch around 4.43GB released yesterday for Xbox? I got the download yesterday but I already completed the game. WTFFFF! Seems to be a lot of improvements - can anyone share patch notes?

Storage is like condoms. Better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

I agree. But for that purpose, you can buy storage for a fraction of the price - any decent hdd/ssd will do. The only purpose of this Xbox seagate 1TB stick is to enable someone to play 2TB worth of games simultaneously as they designed it to be equivalent of internal storage. Am I wrong? ?

haha if you look at comments on the video, all are basically saying that "DON'T HYPE THIS UP!!" because it looks just too good :D dammit! I shouldn't get my hopes all up about this!

and regarding GoWR - we haven't seen anything, what's there to get hyped up about? We don't even know the name of the game. I am more hyped for Rachet and Clank game at this point actually.
