The Xbox Series X|S thread
0verlord replied to Heaven Angel's topic in News, Rumours and Discussions
Ordered on 9th Nov, received on 12th Nov That XSX was definitely meant for someone who preordered in Sept but backed out at the last minute. They just changed the address and shipped it to me -
They are saying that Code Vein is like anime Dark Souls! Pretty cool! Will try out, locked 60fps is a good feature in such games.

PS4 Pro could do incredible things with the right devs. A game like the Ghost of Tsushima was launched on that hardware in 2020. Implications of Raw specs may not be fully understood by us gamers without actual game performance data across a large number of games. We are limited by game performance data available today and info given by hardware companies as the nature of next gen architecture is different from last gen
-
I simply googled machine learning on xbox series consoles and got to this glossary page by MS explaining terms for XSX like DirectML.
-
It’s hardly been 1 month into next gen. No one can say tir mare ya nahi
-
I am a little behind the times Biggest Disappointment:- 1) Cyberpunk 2077 - not for bugs but because of it not having all the features that were promised and 2) How blurry RDR 2 runs on the Pro compared to X1X. It made me buy an Xbox after being with PS for a long time. Biggest Surprise:- 1) The sheer number of games that are available on Gamepass including some top tier AAA games. I had PS Plus but Gamepass is just incredible for the price. 2) Being able to get XSX at launch
-
I am playing RDR 2 on Xbox Series X. I think it's the same version as X1X at 4K 30fps. Loading times are super fast at 20-30 seconds from starting screen. Fast travel in less than 10 secs. I turned off HDR, looks much better
-
I think there's a DLSS equivalent machine learning capability coming to XSX and XSS called DirectML DirectML – Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S support Machine Learning for games with DirectML, a component of DirectX. DirectML leverages unprecedented hardware performance in a console, with Xbox Series X benefiting from over 24 TFLOPS of 16-bit float performance and over 97 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of 4-bit integer performance on Xbox Series X. Machine Learning can improve a wide range of areas, such as making NPCs much smarter, providing vastly more lifelike animation, and greatly improving visual quality. https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/03/16/xbox-series-x-glossary/ With DirectML, Xbox Series consoles will kick butt left and right. Basically, 24TFs on XSX!!!

Sweet! I just bought the Ultimate Edition at 50% discount during black Friday sale and my XSX will finally be able to play something with RT. I think Control is one of the best games to showcase RT
-
Which graphics mode did you choose in your playthrough? 60fps or 30fps with RT?

IVG Game of the year (2020) Thread
0verlord replied to WhiteWolf's topic in News, Rumours and Discussions
TLOU 2 because 1) it’s extremely immersive and story packs a huge gut punch 2) it’s the only game I’ve played till now that came out in 2020 If I am able to start Doom Eternal before 31st December, it’ll be my GOTY because The Game Awards may be temporary but DOOM IS ETERNAL! Doom 2016 is incredible and I hope that Doom Eternal is incredible as well. I’ve heard Doom and Doom Eternal soundtrack so much including the Ancient Gods DLC. That soundtrack alone is worth the price of the game. Doom Eternal is available on Gamepass but I’ll be sure to buy the Ancient Gods DLC because I really believe the devs should be supported. I feel that the experience of the sheer FEROCITY of the Doom Slayer can only be matched by Bloodborne. Doom and Bloodborne are extra special, something magical and pure. Just watch this -- 57 replies

PlayStation vs Xbox vs Nintendo thread

Very good points about PS4/XBone -
The DLC looks superb, pure action and supreme graphics. All minor bugs removed to give silky fps everywhere. I am excited to play G5 but many gears still left to complete [emoji28] The Coalition seems to be MS’s premiere studio. Cracking stuff!!

The Xbox Series X|S thread

You yourself don't know which programming techniques were used to code bright memory by game devs or in terms of hardware power, how costly they are in terms of requirement of hardware power or whether devs were using next gen hardware architecture features or not. However the game looks, the kind of power that a game code can demand from the hardware can be unrelated to how it looks - for example crysis looks dated but is still an extremely demanding game even today. Only thing that will help understand is looking at actual performance in new games. Rest all is fanboy castles in the air fueled by ignorance. -

Yes, that's because it is the new game that was launched today. For more new games, you'll have to wait. Devs take time to make games. Till the time we get sufficient number of games, any kind of verdict on performance is unreliable. What XSS can do or cannot will be told by actual performance in large number of games and not by speculation based on on-paper specs whose implications nobody understands except game devs or console hardware engineers. -

sigh I fully believe that you are more competent and knowledgeable than me at analyzing these matters and I trust that you, without any external opinion including my own, shall be a fair judge of offerings from both MS and PS. I believe that only actual performance of all 3 next gen consoles for different new games that will come out in the future will enable us to give a concrete verdict. Without a good sample size and sufficient number of games with known performance, everyone's speculation and opinion about future performance is unreliable as there are too many variables that can affect things. I certainly don't understand these matters fully but I offered a new point of data where XSS performs admirably. My point is not whether the game is indie, AA or AAA. My point is that as per the new game data, XSS is able to offer an instance of excellent performance in a game which was made solely for next gen hardware keeping new architecture features in mind. The only question this answers is whether XSS hardware is lacking in power or not (for it's target resolution). This game says "it's not". -

sigh let me make it easier for you. even you should be able to understand if you just think hard enough here, XSS does 1440P 60fps in a new next gen exclusive game with no last gen pulling it back. This means that the theory that XSS will drop to sub 720p or 15fps or will hold back XSX/PS5 is incorrect. We will see more such examples in the future. -

Here's some actual performance. Next gen exclusive with no last gen pulling it back XSS does 1440P 60fps Again, at this rate, the theory that XSS will hold XSX/PS5 will prove incorrect with new next gen games. Bonus: XSX is a direct PC port. So, if the game performs the best on PC, likely that XSX will be 2nd best overall and best among consoles -

I appreciate the humor and take it in positive sense but if you can tell me facts, I'll accept your point and easily change my opinion. If this indeed happens, MS scr*wed themselves. But this is all a speculation on your part because if you can pull games like God of War and TLOU 2 out of base PS4, XSS is much more capable. What I am saying is that whether it will drop to 15fps with sub 720p or it will have solid 30fps at 1080p is something which will be proven when new next gen games launch. I don't think MS would launch a hardware which will drop to 15fps with sub 720p within 2-3 years - doesn't make business sense

Every component of XSS is better than X1X. CPU and SSD of XSS are miles better than X1X. With GPU, X1X has 6TF of last gen architecture while XSS has 4TF of next gen architecture. 1TF of next gen architecture performs much better than 1TF of last gen architecture. So on paper overall XSS > X1X

Dayum! She's really a super tough b*tch but a super amazing boss! Totally breaks the spine of new players and give the taste of real Bloodborne but when you finally win it's an amazing victory. Small hint below to make it slightly easier -

One big surprise when you play the DLC will be the realization that the hardest part/section of the whole game including DLC is not actually a boss battle!! Let me know when you experience this
