Finished Gears 1 ultimate edition - quite a meaty game, really enjoyed the tight action. Started Gears 2 but felt that it was too much shooter too soon so started NFS Rivals randomly. Gears 2 is X360 version but its graphics hold up quite well and not unplayable. Also slowly playing RDR 2 consistently side by side.

Available on GP now, looks quite interesting.

Yes, I do not know about the glitches you are facing as I am refraining from playing on my XSX for now. My only suggestion was to wait till they release next gen updates slated for early 2021, it may be only a couple of months away or less. Perhaps the unoptimized version may be causing glitches on XSX as it’s running on back compat mode.

Bought the ultimate edition on sale but waiting till next gen update - they say early 2021. Better to wait for stuff like ray tracing as control is a great showcase for RT GP version is not ultimate edition

I can afford to buy stuff doesn’t mean I do. I spend very prudently and try to maximize gaming value per ₹. Also, I can allocate limited time to gaming, so PC are out of question because they need extra time commitment for assembly and maintenance like taking care of drivers etc. Consoles are quite convenient in that regard.

You’ve got it all wrong. I earn enough on my own to buy both consoles or to afford 3 lakh+ PC. I own a top end expensive LG OLED. I really don’t care if XSX that I just bought is an underpowered machine because I can easily pickup the PS5 on day 1 when it launches in India without batting an eye financially. What I do care about is stuff like PS3 Cell CPU and how it was an exotic processor and how developers went about utilizing it to the fullest. Now, both XSX and PS5 console hardwares are a mystery because we are getting unexpected results for performance comparisons. I want to solve that mystery and understand it better and that’s what’ll help me sleep.

Why? - genuinely asking. If PCs and Series consoles versions are being closely developed due to common tools and ecosystem, PC Ultra assets could be easily ported to XSX.

It could be that Series S is holding back SX but similarly it could also help SX considering that MS is looking to unify the Series consoles and PC ecosystems. Essentially, XSX could get access to Ultra quality assets which are generally reserved for PCs and not available to consoles which are generally at High quality assets.

When 12tf vs 10tf were announced nobody suspected that 10tf gpu console would do better than 12tf wala console. Normal Nvidia, AMD GPUs follow the same rule generally that more TFs mean better performance. At that time, only console hardware teams from both sides may had any idea about how it’s going to pan out. PS5 is a custom hardware - there’s no way any layman could understand it when it was announced on paper or what it’s capabilities are even today. Fair point

The guy says in the end that “Tools” like “Ray tracing APIs” were received very late by devs that’s why there were bugs. There are multiple people giving multiple reasons/theories. Who to believe? If devs of Dirt 5, COD BO CW etc personally said that they did their best with XSX and there’s nothing else they can improve but still it doesn’t perform as good as PS5, only then is there trouble.

I think 2 discs have 53GB data on them and update size is 43.5GB - that’s massive.

After 2015, X1X had very clear and significant advantage over the Pro for many multi-plat games - sorry for repeating but X1X's RDR 2 is massively sharper than Pro. Also, Shadow of War, Wolfenstein II, Rise of the Tomb Raider, etc. Not just resolution and fps - X1X had much higher quality assets. People ignored X1X - doesn't mean it didn't massively out-perform Pro. PS sold a lot - I bought 3 PS consoles but X1X clearly deserves the title of the most powerful console in the world of its era - on paper as well as in real life performance

normal ones have 5 times more recharge cycles than pros - it means that they could last at at-least 15-20 years (as per my usage at least). That's ridiculously a long time to stick with same batteries

Pros are meant for high power draining devices. Pros have more capacity 5100 vs 4000 but have less charging cycles. I estimate that 4 Pros would easily last 5-7 years with my usage. The packaging recommends Pros for controllers. I haven’t used both, so can’t tell you real-world differences.

What I meant was no one actually thinks that fighting PS on exclusives is MS’s top priority, looking at their record.

I am on my first couple of Eneloops, went with Pros.

Also, it’s a very well known fact since several years that MS is not playing the exclusives game. Only Sony is doing that. MS’s strategy is something else entirely.

There are 3rd party next gen games on XSX. PS5 has 1 next gen exclusive that’s a remake - Demon’s Souls. Miles morales is kind of like a 10-12 hour DLC. Rest all PS5 next gen games are 3rd party. All this “no next gen exclusives games on XSX” argument doesn’t hold if PS5 has only a remake and a DLC expansion as next gen exclusives, however good they may look.

Included Duracell AAs lasted around 10 days averaging 2 hours a day. I keep vibration on. Cool thing is I just swapped them with my Eneloop rechargeable AAs and got instant full charge.

Rather than feeling riled up, I genuinely laughed It's cool man, people want to play games how they like, that's all. There's no bad way of playing games and buying XSX doesn't mean that they can't or won't buy PS5. Everyone is free to enjoy what they please. We aren't here to convince anyone, that's Sony and MS's job - best we can do is help fellow gamers with good game recommendations, price drops, better information, game discussions etc. - all constructive stuff which helps.
