i am planning to get a ps3,not sure whisch version to go for?
Is it worth getting a 80gb version for 24k?
Guys sorry for the duplicate post.. When i clicked post the first time.. Safari crashed..!!!!! M$ you have competition from Apple..!!!! Hee hee heee
That depends if you want to have Backward Compatibility (BC). The 80gig version as software emulation so that you can play some of your old PS2 games. Plus it has card slots. The 40Gig version lacks BC and Card slots.
Whatever version you pickup, just make it sure that you get it from an authorized dealer. There is lots of negative wind blowing through this forum for so called SoD problem.
I own a 60Gig NA version. Its been about 10 months now and its working amazing.
I hope that you will come to the dark side very soon...!!!!!

ok found out i got an AGP slot on my motherboard now which grafics card i can go for with DVI out so i can attach to my LCD TV thru a dvi to hdmi cable.. remember i dont game on my PC i just want to use it like a media center... record from TV, music watch 720p files etc... so dont want to spend too much on it...
I am not a techie.. but I think you will need to get a DVR (TV Tuner) unit so that you can record the TV shows and all. Pinnacle is one good company for TV tunner cards. A good DVR (external USB connected) will cost you I think about 4500.
Regarding AGP card.. you will certainly need that to output to your TV. Since AGP is kinda old technology, I dont know if you get any new cards. Do you have PCI-Express slot?

ordered the comp with teh following specs:
8800 gt
e8500 intel core 2 duo
nvidea 650i mobo
4 gb ram
320 gb hdd@ 7200rpm
Wow.. this config is cool..!!!
I will just have one suggestion.. The CPU has 1333 Mhz FSB. The Mobo you have selected supports max. DDR2 800 Mhz memory. You might want to select Asus P5N32-E SLI. This one supports 1333 Mhz FSB. I believe you will get 1333 Mhz memory.
Your setup is great.. but CPU will be bottlednecked with slow speed RAM. You wont get 100% from your CPU with current setup. You may want to reconsider.

I have my PS3 (60Gigs) hooked up to 40 inch Sony Bravia V series LCD Panel. For sound I use Yamaha 5.1 channel system (sorry but I dont remember the model number). Unfortunately, this Yamaha amp that I have doesnt have the HDMI in/out.
My PC is nothing great.. Its a AMD 3200+ with 2 GB RAM. + ATI x700 Pro graphics card. I have hooked this to 32 inch Samsung Bordaux LCD panel in my bed room.

Hey Guys,
Just wondering how serious and real the so called SoD problem is? I own a 60Gig NA version PS3 for about 10 months now and it still works fine. Do we have any kind of stats for the failure rate? or its just a rumor from crapbox fanboys?
60gig version is suppose to be the best build.
See for yourself...

Thanks a lot for that link. I read it.. also, followed the link to Playstation 3 official forum that was in the IndianVideoGamer post. It looks like very few people encountered this problem I mean there are always gonna be few comsoles which will may develop a snag. Anyways, its individual opinion. I am extreamly happy with my 60 Gig NA version.
