I have never played any Zelda game in my childhood, hence no nostalgia. Mario, OTOH, WAS childhood. So were the tons of NES and SNES games like Excitebike, Baseball etc (I play both of these more often than I am comfortable agreeing - even now. Thanks to NSO). After dying for the Nth time in SMG or losing in Mario Tennis, and wanting to throw the controller away, you look at the screen - and it's these cute little characters looking back at ya. And you realize it's just a Mario game, you smile and you try once again. It's just....heart warming. Won't deny - legit love Nintendo and I don't want them to sell out to anybody else. Innovating for family friendly fun when most others are hyping on resolution and graphical prowess. The pre bundled Wii Sports with the Wii is possibly one of my favorite games even now !

Just play SMG from the trio of 3D stars. Every f**king planet is different. You can never expect what will hit you once you spin away. Childlike fun !

I just enjoy the f**k out of Nintendo's IP - any Kirby/Mario game. Plus Astral Chain and a bunch of others. Super fun, not so stressful, and I don't have to break gaming sessions if wife or kids want to hog the TV. Just pick up and continue. Honestly, a miracle. Most 1st party titles are so good that my daughter joins, or watches while I play. Legit great system. Also wouldn't have discovered Horace had it not been for eshop. GOTY. Haven't played BotW since I am not a fan of open world.
