I would call dan browns work entertaining but definitely not exceptional :|
His books are indeed page turners but there are many other authors who write similar fast paced stuff like baldacci, reily etc
+1. He isn't crap but isn't great either. Though I did find Angels & Demons to be fairly above his current standards. Deception point too.

Wow awesome purchases Fatman
How do you get the time to read all the GNs ?

Also which PG exam are you preparing for?
Thanks !

Well, I don't read all in one go. My normal reading time is before sleeping, 1-3 hours. Otherwise on lazy days & holidays

And lets get the medical discussion on PM or gtalk else we're gonna derail the thread !

Another good read - What UCLA teaches about India !
An excerpt:
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) has consistently earned high rankings in the world as the 12th best public university and inside the US, as the 2nd best, and boasts of being affiliated with several Nobel lauretes. Its noble motto, “let there be light” has echoes from the Vedic Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya. A University that boasts of such credentials usually means that it adheres to the highest academic standards in both teaching, course material, textbook prescriptions, recommended and additional reading, faculty-selection…well, at the least, it implies that when you enroll for a course there, you can reasonably guarantee that you will be taught accurate stuff. Especially history and subjects dealing with other cultures and religions.I was initially amused when the desi blogworld’s excellent historian, JK pointed me to this. Under the course entitled Introduction to Asian Civilizations: History of India, the official textbook recommendations include works of such luminaries as Romila Thapar, Jawaharlal Nehru (Discovery of India), AK Ramanujan, and a host of Western scholars who’ve written on and about the Ramayana and Mahabharata. But what really prompted this post was this lecture (downloadable MP3, about 22 MB) by one, Professor Vinay Lal.
It’s best to clear some ground regarding the prescribed books for the course material.
-Discovery of India is not a work of history. At best, it is one man’s flowery ruminations on an India that existed only in his imagination. And neither was that man a historian–by qualification, education, or erudition.
-Romila Thapar’s credentials as a “historian” are too well known to be repeated again.
-AK Ramanujan’s work–its scholarship notwithstanding–is at odds with the primary sources on which he has written.
-As for the works of other Western scholars of Indology, I haven’t read them all but given my general mistrust in this area, your guess is as good as mine.

Great buy snake and alekh
Alekh's buys are always interesting. Btw, no the one you talking about is the WDTV Live player Hub with the inbuilt HDD. THis one does not have an HDD. I have the same model. its so smaill and portable@MT
MKV and subtitle support. Plus PS3 sometimes randomly fails to play files which the WDTVlive plays easily.
Thanku sir. That was very kind of you to say !

And yeah ! Just remembered reading that the Hub comes with a 1TB HDD. My bad.
Plus yup again on the fact that PS3 does fail to play a few files, and it's totally random ! Also can't get PC-to-PS3 stream work properly inspite of using a cable. Hi-def (even 720p) has a lot of hiccups & jitter

@Freak: Congo bro..!

Ok so this is Macguyver 1101 lol. If you get one and then take the tip and heat it and use a nose plier, you might actually be able to make it thin enough to push air into a tighter space. The only problem I see with this is getting it thin enough to get the job done. I'd suggest slow heat application and a firm press with a plier to flatten the end out and then use a heavy set of scissors to trim the edges off and leave just enough to blow air through
And you expect Nunni to do it !?! Of all people Nunni
.. Who was caught watching porn in his room !!!!!!1 ..

use chrome
How do I force a program, that too a net based setup to use Chrome.

Chrome is already set as my default browser but web based setups call IE for the installations. And I don't think you can change it

-
IE9 beta - give IE8 a fair chance at least.
How do I do that ? IE9 beta overwrites IE8 AFAIK. So my system has no IE8 to speak of ! :|
And don't wanna uninstall IE9. It's just so much better than IE8.
Edit: There's no uninstaller for IE9 :| .. No entry under "Programs & Features" or CCleaner :|
-
Don't think they would work as the nozzle won't fit into the creaks of the trackpad :|
-
Using IE9 Beta. And it can't call the API as it aint even installed. The behaviour happens when I click the installer. It's supposed to be a web based install but nothing happens

-
LOL yeah :|
-
Anybody using MetroTwit ?
UI seems awesome !
..Not installing on my desktop though
.. The installer opens up an IE window which closes within 1 sec. And a connection opens up to some link (can see it just for a sec DU meter traffic) just for 1 sec, after which nothing happens. Zilch.

Any help ?
