    This is why vaccination should be focussed on Metros, Tier I and II cities.

    Have 75% of adult population in these cities finish vaxx in 2 weeks.

    100-150 vaxx per center won't cut it, start mobile vaccination centers on the street corners and jab everyone who is passing through.

    But they are way low compared to what they had in % of cases during Wave II.

    But fine print here is that 63% of their Adult population is fully vaxxed.

    Heck, I would take a booster 6 monthly if that means new variants are covered, which is logistically impossible.

    This is too small a window (10 days) to look at the data, as Death certificates are not issued in Real-Time.

    There could be certificates which weren't issued in time last year, due to lockdown, or backlog that have been cleared. 

     

    Secondly, died-of-covid vs died-with-covid which is followed world over, adds discrepency

    These deaths might not have been even accounted for by the officials, India is a not a country where every death is counted.

     

    Logically, its not possible.

     

    Even if you assume that India has higher CFR than the  RoW, let's say 2%.

    25L death means 12.5Cr cases.

     

    You can hide/undercount/ignore may be a couple of lakhs of deaths, a crore or two cases, but not >8cr cases and 21L deaths.

    Things like these used to happen pretty regularly earlier too but noone had means to talk about it (cheap internet) and make NK connection.

     

    This was way back in 2010. 

    This Spanish guy I know was caught with small quantity of Cocaine in Hyderabad and got locked up.

    Narcotics crime are non-bailable and he stayed as undertrial for a couple of months but somehow managed to get bail.

     

    Now, there was no chance that in normal circumstances he could have flied out, but he was not on look-out notice.

    So he took his chances and booked a flight

    what he forgot was that he had overstayed his visa by a few days,

    or may be he knew but then his drug case would've made it impossible for him to get extension w/o inviting scrutiny.

    He was de-boarded from the flight and taken in custody again, now for bigger offence.

     

    Spanish embassy refused to help him and when I met him (2013), he was still in India and had no hope of going back.

    Problem is not that Wave II was a mess, problem is that Govt/ruling party lost the war of perception.

    Wave II has been killer just everywhere in the world.
