    Dunno about the Yepp, but the SGS supports a myriad of file formats including MKVs and can play videos up to 720p. :D

    An SGS minus the phone part of it. That would be awesome.

     

    But what I'm asking about is the overall media playing ease and interface of the SGS.. does it matchup to that of an iPod touch or other such PMP? Just asking...

    And they have video cams all around so they find it easy to collect so many clips.

     

    And that truck accident towards the end was huge.. In the middle somewhere there was this guy who flipped over another car and then coolly turned and kept on going :rofl:

     

    The dude running into the car at 4:36 was priceless :rofl:

     

    oh yeah.. he was like bang into the side :roflroll:

     

    It has happened to me actually, though it was while I was in an auto. Guy crossing the road ran across went bang into the side of the auto and fell.... when the auto was standing still (I'd just gotten in and was explaining what route to take). I didn't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for that guy :lol:

    Why do you need rockplayer? The SGS' in built video player is awesome.

     

     

    Would it be good enough as a standalone media device? I'm asking cos of... well... the possibility of acquiring a Yepp MB2 somehow if it ever releases outside Korea is enticing...

    Actually I didn't like that inception cat vid. Amazing that something like that has sooooo many views on youtube. :doh:

     

    At the very least it should have been an actual cat doing something silly. I half expected a cat to jump back into whatever basin or thing that had been set up there in the background.

    I am using the same rom he is talking about the AFRICA JG8 one. its not a continuous problem. Just happens randomly. The other day I was boasting to a friend about its 1 Ghz proccy, and when he opened messages, it took 2 seconds and they all burst out laughing at me :(. I honestly feel android 2.1 should literally be flying nonstop with the kinda specs under the hood. Samsung really needs to look at the performance issues at top priority while releasing 2.2

     

    Ah well, sh*t happens. I deal with that every day. Though I can blame it on a 400Mhz processor and a shitty OS :D

     

     

    ^^ The issues are primarily with Samsung's filesytem which uses RFS and a weird caching mechanism. The best lag fixes actually rewrite a new filesystem in the internal memory and move the data files there. Its an evolving process.

     

    Any idea when CM6 will be out for SGS and its variants? And would that solve the problem - seeing as in how the latest CM seems to be based off Froyo.

    While Apple’s brand new iPod touch has specs that are pretty hard to beat (960 x 640 pixel display, 2 cameras, HD video recording, and so forth), it looks like Apple’s little device is starting to get some serious competition. While the iPod line started out as portable media devices, they’ve transformed into portable computing devices for surfing the web, playing games, running all sorts of apps, and oh yeah, watching videos and listening to music.

     

    This week Archos launched a new line of Android-powered devices, including 3 handheld media players which undercut the iPod touch on price, ranging from $99 to $199. The Archos 28, Archos 32, and Archos 43 can also handle a range of media formats not supported by Apple iDevices, including WMV, DivX, Xvid, and MKV.

     

    Now Samsung has rolled out a new line of portable media players, including the Samsung Galaxy Player 50 which runs Google Android 2.1. The Galaxy Player 50 has a 3.2 inch display and can handle DivX, H.264 and other media formats.

     

    Engadget got a chance to check out the Samsung Galaxy Player 50, and report that it has a multitouch display, and comes with either 8Gb or 16GB of storage space and supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi. It also has a 2MP camera. The thing that surprised me the most was that the demo unit appeared to have the Android Market and other Google apps including Google Maps Navigation and Gmail.

     

    Those features are usually reserved for smartphones, and it’s not entirely clear what kind of deal Samsung must have struck to get them on the Galaxy Player 50. The Archos tablets, for instance, use the third party AppsLib market, which has about 5,000 apps available for download instead of the close to 100,000 apps available from the full Android Market.

     

    On the other hand, it’s always possible that the finished product won’t actually ship with access to the Android Market… but Samsung isn’t the kind of company that usually teases us with features that will later be removed.

     

    It’s not entirely clear whether the Samsung Galaxy 50 is the same portable Android device we’ve been hearing about for the past few weeks. On the one hand, the button layout certainly makes it look a lot like the Samsung YP-MB2. On the other hand, the YP-MB2 appeared to have a black surface and chromed edges while the Galaxy 50 appears to have a white plastic case. So I can’t say for certain whether Samsung is working on another Android media player or if the Galaxy 50 is simply the new name for the product-formerly-known-as the Samsung YP-MB2.

     

    But ... but.. no Super AMOLED screen :(

     

    The YP-MB2 released in Korea had GPS, AMOLED and pretty much everything from the Galaxy S except the phone. Why can't Samsung bring out an Android PMP with all that Korean goodness in English? :(

    ^^ I'm surprised. When I flashed the AFRICA ROM and used RyanZA's lagfix, it was more or less the fastest phone I've used. It was better then my iPhone 3GS in response time.

     

     

    I am actually using ryanza's lagfix app from the market...so I have to keep it running?...also is it better to press the home key to close apps temporarily or the back key to close it completely..using samsungs own task manager I see 8-10 apps always running for me...

     

    Maybe you need to flash it with a custom ROM DS?

    Watched Iron Man 2. Pretty good for an action movie. :D RDJ is awesome as Tony Stark once again! And I did like Don Cheadle better as the new Col. Rhode. And Scarlett Johansson as the black widow :wOOtjumpy:

     

     

    And Mjolnir too! OMG!

     

  22. Duke Nukem Forever

    Well I hope they don't mess it up horribly. Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior ( "Look! You have a new friend!" - after tagging some dude with a sticky bomb. "Do you want to wash Wang or do you want to watch Wang wash Wang?" , "Woops, Lo Wang drop soap, you bend over get it, hahaha" :lol: ) are 2 games I vividly remember from my childhood. Sad that 3dRealms went down this path and never finished the sequel to such epicness as Duke Nukem in time.
